KJV 2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

WLC 2 אֱמָר־ נָ֗א אֶל־ זְרֻבָּבֶ֤ל בֶּן־ שַׁלְתִּיאֵל֙ פַּחַ֣ת יְהוּדָ֔ה וְאֶל־ יְהוֹשֻׁ֥עַ בֶּן־ יְהוֹצָדָ֖ק הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּד֑וֹל וְאֶל־ שְׁאֵרִ֥ית הָעָ֖ם לֵאמֹֽר׃
KJV 3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
VULC 3 Loquere ad Zorobabel, filium Salathiel, ducem Juda, et ad Jesum, filium Josedec, sacerdotem magnum, et ad reliquos populi, dicens :
WLC 3 מִ֤י בָכֶם֙ הַנִּשְׁאָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֤ר רָאָה֙ אֶת־ הַבַּ֣יִת הַזֶּ֔ה בִּכְבוֹד֖וֹ הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן וּמָ֨ה אַתֶּ֜ם רֹאִ֤ים אֹתוֹ֙ עַ֔תָּה הֲל֥וֹא כָמֹ֛הוּ כְּאַ֖יִן בְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃
KJV 4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:
VULC 4 [Quis in vobis est derelictus,
qui vidit domum istam in gloria sua prima ?
et quid vos videtis hanc nunc ?
numquid non ita est, quasi non sit in oculis vestris ?
WLC 4 וְעַתָּ֣ה חֲזַ֣ק זְרֻבָּבֶ֣ל ׀ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֡ה וַחֲזַ֣ק יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בֶּן־ יְהוֹצָדָק֩ הַכֹּהֵ֨ן הַגָּד֜וֹל וַחֲזַ֨ק כָּל־ עַ֥ם הָאָ֛רֶץ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֖ה וַֽעֲשׂ֑וּ כִּֽי־ אֲנִ֣י אִתְּכֶ֔ם נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃
KJV 5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
VULC 5 Et nunc confortare, Zorobabel, dicit Dominus ;
et confortare, Jesu, fili Josedec, sacerdos magne ;
et confortare, omnis populus terræ, dicit Dominus exercituum :
et facite (quoniam ego vobiscum sum, dicit Dominus exercituum)

KJV 6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
VULC 6 verbum quod pepigi vobiscum cum egrederemini de terra Ægypti :
et spiritus meus erit in medio vestrum : nolite timere.
WLC 6 כִּ֣י כֹ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת ע֥וֹד אַחַ֖ת מְעַ֣ט הִ֑יא וַאֲנִ֗י מַרְעִישׁ֙ אֶת־ הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם וְאֶת־ הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאֶת־ הַיָּ֖ם וְאֶת־ הֶחָרָבָֽה׃
KJV 7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
VULC 7 Quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :
Adhuc unum modicum est,
et ego commovebo cælum, et terram, et mare, et aridam.
WLC 7 וְהִרְעַשְׁתִּי֙ אֶת־ כָּל־ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וּבָ֖אוּ חֶמְדַּ֣ת כָּל־ הַגּוֹיִ֑ם וּמִלֵּאתִ֞י אֶת־ הַבַּ֤יִת הַזֶּה֙ כָּב֔וֹד אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃
KJV 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
VULC 8 Et movebo omnes gentes,
et veniet desideratus cunctis gentibus :
et implebo domum istam gloria,
dicit Dominus exercituum.

KJV 9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

dicit Dominus exercituum.

KJV 10 In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
VULC 10 Magna erit gloria domus istius novissimæ plus quam primæ,
dicit Dominus exercituum :
et in loco isto dabo pacem,
dicit Dominus exercituum.]

KJV 11 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,
VULC 11 In vigesima et quarta noni mensis, in anno secundo Darii regis, factum est verbum Domini ad Aggæum prophetam, dicens :
WLC 11 כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת שְׁאַל־ נָ֧א אֶת־ הַכֹּהֲנִ֛ים תּוֹרָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃
KJV 12 If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.
VULC 12 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Interroga sacerdotes legem, dicens :
WLC 12 הֵ֣ן ׀ יִשָּׂא־ אִ֨ישׁ בְּשַׂר־ קֹ֜דֶשׁ בִּכְנַ֣ף בִּגְד֗וֹ וְנָגַ֣ע בִּ֠כְנָפוֹ אֶל־ הַלֶּ֨חֶם וְאֶל־ הַנָּזִ֜יד וְאֶל־ הַיַּ֧יִן וְאֶל־ שֶׁ֛מֶן וְאֶל־ כָּל־ מַאֲכָ֖ל הֲיִקְדָּ֑שׁ וַיַּעֲנ֧וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֛ים וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ לֹֽא׃
KJV 13 Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.
VULC 13 Si tulerit homo carnem sanctificatam in ora vestimenti sui, et tetigerit de summitate ejus panem, aut pulmentum, aut vinum, aut oleum, aut omnem cibum, numquid sanctificabitur ? Respondentes autem sacerdotes, dixerunt : Non.
WLC 13 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חַגַּ֔י אִם־ יִגַּ֧ע טְמֵא־ נֶ֛פֶשׁ בְּכָל־ אֵ֖לֶּה הֲיִטְמָ֑א וַיַּעֲנ֧וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֛ים וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ יִטְמָֽא׃
KJV 14 Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
VULC 14 Et dixit Aggæus : Si tetigerit pollutus in anima ex omnibus his, numquid contaminabitur ? Et responderunt sacerdotes, et dixerunt : Contaminabitur.
WLC 14 וַיַּ֨עַן חַגַּ֜י וַיֹּ֗אמֶר כֵּ֣ן הָֽעָם־ הַ֠זֶּה וְכֵן־ הַגּ֨וֹי הַזֶּ֤ה לְפָנַי֙ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֔ה וְכֵ֖ן כָּל־ מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יְדֵיהֶ֑ם וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר יַקְרִ֛יבוּ שָׁ֖ם טָמֵ֥א הֽוּא׃
KJV 15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:
VULC 15 Et respondit Aggæus, et dixit : [Sic populus iste,
et sic gens ista ante faciem meam, dicit Dominus,
et sic omne opus manuum eorum :
et omnia quæ obtulerunt ibi, contaminata erunt.
WLC 15 וְעַתָּה֙ שִֽׂימוּ־ נָ֣א לְבַבְכֶ֔ם מִן־ הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה וָמָ֑עְלָה מִטֶּ֧רֶם שֽׂוּם־ אֶ֛בֶן אֶל־ אֶ֖בֶן בְּהֵיכַ֥ל יְהוָֽה׃
KJV 16 Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.
VULC 16 Et nunc ponite corda vestra a die hac et supra,
antequam poneretur lapis super lapidem in templo Domini.
WLC 16 מִֽהְיוֹתָ֥ם בָּא֙ אֶל־ עֲרֵמַ֣ת עֶשְׂרִ֔ים וְהָיְתָ֖ה עֲשָׂרָ֑ה בָּ֣א אֶל־ הַיֶּ֗קֶב לַחְשֹׂף֙ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים פּוּרָ֔ה וְהָיְתָ֖ה עֶשְׂרִֽים׃
KJV 17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.
VULC 17 Cum accederetis ad acervum viginti modiorum,
et fierent decem ;
et intraretis ad torcular, ut exprimeretis quinquaginta lagenas,
et fiebant viginti.
WLC 17 הִכֵּ֨יתִי אֶתְכֶ֜ם בַּשִּׁדָּפ֤וֹן וּבַיֵּֽרָקוֹן֙ וּבַבָּרָ֔ד אֵ֖ת כָּל־ מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יְדֵיכֶ֑ם וְאֵין־ אֶתְכֶ֥ם אֵלַ֖י נְאֻם־ יְהוָֽה׃
KJV 18 Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid, consider it.
VULC 18 Percussi vos vento urente, et aurugine,
et grandine omnia opera manuum vestrarum :
et non fuit in vobis qui reverteretur ad me, dicit Dominus.
WLC 18 שִׂימוּ־ נָ֣א לְבַבְכֶ֔ם מִן־ הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה וָמָ֑עְלָה מִיּוֹם֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֜ה לַתְּשִׁיעִ֗י לְמִן־ הַיּ֛וֹם אֲשֶׁר־ יֻסַּ֥ד הֵֽיכַל־ יְהוָ֖ה שִׂ֥ימוּ לְבַבְכֶֽם׃
KJV 19 Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.
VULC 19 Ponite corda vestra ex die ista, et in futurum,
a die vigesima et quarta noni mensis :
a die qua fundamenta jacta sunt templi Domini,
ponite super cor vestrum.

KJV 20 And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,
VULC 20 Numquid jam semen in germine est,
et adhuc vinea, et ficus,
et malogranatum, et lignum olivæ non floruit ? ex die ista benedicam.]
WLC 20 וַיְהִ֨י דְבַר־ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ שֵׁנִית֙ אֶל־ חַגַּ֔י בְּעֶשְׂרִ֧ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֛ה לַחֹ֖דֶשׁ לֵאמֹֽר׃
KJV 21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;
VULC 21 Et factum est verbum Domini secundo ad Aggæum in vigesima et quarta mensis, dicens :
WLC 21 אֱמֹ֕ר אֶל־ זְרֻבָּבֶ֥ל פַּֽחַת־ יְהוּדָ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר אֲנִ֣י מַרְעִ֔ישׁ אֶת־ הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֶת־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃
KJV 22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

KJV 23 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.

et conteram fortitudinem regni gentium :
et subvertam quadrigam et ascensorem ejus,
et descendent equi, et ascensores eorum,
vir in gladio fratris sui.
