¹ Et Salomon commença de bâtir la maison de l'Éternel à Jérusalem, sur la montagne de Morija, où [l'Éternel] était apparu à David, son père, sur l'emplacement que David avait préparé dans l'aire d'Ornan, le Jébusien.
² Et il commença de bâtir le second [jour] * du second mois, en la quatrième année de son règne. **
³ Et c'est ici le fondement que Salomon posa pour bâtir la maison de Dieu : la longueur, en coudées, d'après l'ancienne mesure, était de soixante coudées, et la largeur, de vingt coudées.
⁴ Et le portique qui était devant avait vingt coudées de longueur, selon la largeur de la maison ; et sa hauteur était de cent vingt [coudées] ; et il le recouvrit à l'intérieur d'or pur.
⁵ Et la grande maison, il la revêtit de bois de cyprès ; et il la revêtit d'or fin, et il y fit des palmiers* et des chaînes.
⁶ Et il recouvrit la maison de pierres précieuses, pour [son] ornement ; et l'or était de l'or de Parvaïm.
⁷ Et il revêtit d'or la maison, les solives, les seuils, et ses murs, et ses portes ; et il entailla des chérubins sur les murs.
⁸ Et il fit la maison du lieu très saint* : sa longueur, selon la largeur de la maison, de vingt coudées, et sa largeur de vingt coudées ; et il la revêtit d'or fin, se montant à six cents talents.
⁹ Et le poids des clous se montait à cinquante sicles d'or ; et il revêtit d'or les chambres hautes.
¹⁰ Et il fit dans la maison du lieu très saint deux chérubins, d'ouvrage de statuaire, et on les recouvrit d'or.
¹¹ Et les ailes des chérubins avaient vingt coudées de long ; une aile de l'un, de cinq coudées, touchait le mur de la maison ; et l'autre aile, de cinq coudées, touchait l'aile de l'autre chérubin.
¹² Et l'aile de l'autre chérubin, de cinq coudées touchait le mur de la maison ; et l'autre aile, de cinq coudées, joignait l'aile de l'autre chérubin.
¹³ Les ailes de ces chérubins, déployées, [avaient] vingt coudées ; et ils se tenaient debout sur leurs pieds, et leurs faces [regardaient] vers la maison.
¹⁴ Et il fit le voile de bleu, et de pourpre, et de cramoisi, et de byssus, et mit dessus des chérubins.
¹⁵ Et devant la maison il fit deux colonnes de trente-cinq coudées de hauteur* ; et le chapiteau qui était sur leur sommet était de cinq coudées.
¹⁶ Et il fit des chaînes [comme] dans l'oracle*, et les mit sur le sommet des colonnes ; et il fit cent grenades, et les mit aux chaînes.
¹⁷ Et il dressa les colonnes devant le temple, l'une à droite, l'autre à gauche ; et il appela le nom de celle qui était à droite, Jakin* ; et le nom de celle qui était à gauche, Boaz**.

¹ Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
² And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.
³ Now these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.
⁴ And the porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
⁵ And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains.
⁶ And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.
⁷ He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls.
⁸ And he made the most holy house, the length whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.
⁹ And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.
¹⁰ And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold.
¹¹ And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.
¹² And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub.
¹³ The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward.
¹⁴ And he made the vail of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubims thereon.
¹⁵ Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.
¹⁶ And he made chains, as in the oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars; and made an hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.
¹⁷ And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

¹ Et cœpit Salomon ædificare domum Domini in Jerusalem in monte Moria, qui demonstratus fuerat David patri ejus, in loco quem paraverat David in area Ornan Jebusæi.
² Cœpit autem ædificare mense secundo, anno quarto regni sui.
³ Et hæc sunt fundamenta quæ jecit Salomon, ut ædificaret domum Dei : longitudinis cubitos in mensura prima sexaginta, latitudinis cubitos viginti.
⁴ Porticum vero ante frontem, quæ tendebatur in longum juxta mensuram latitudinis domus, cubitorum viginti : porro altitudo centum viginti cubitorum erat : et deauravit eam intrinsecus auro mundissimo.
⁵ Domum quoque majorem texit tabulis ligneis abiegnis, et laminas auri obrizi affixit per totum : sculpsitque in ea palmas, et quasi catenulas se invicem complectentes.
⁶ Stravit quoque pavimentum templi pretiosissimo marmore, decore multo.
⁷ Porro aurum erat probatissimum, de cujus laminis texit domum, et trabes ejus, et postes, et parietes, et ostia : et cælavit cherubim in parietibus.
⁸ Fecit quoque domum Sancti sanctorum : longitudinem juxta latitudinem domus cubitorum viginti : et latitudinem similiter viginti cubitorum : et laminis aureis texit eam, quasi talentis sexcentis.
⁹ Sed et clavos fecit aureos, ita ut singuli clavi siclos quinquagenos appenderent : cœnacula quoque texit auro.
¹⁰ Fecit etiam in domo Sancti sanctorum cherubim duos, opere statuario : et texit eos auro.
¹¹ Alæ cherubim viginti cubitis extendebantur, ita ut una ala haberet cubitos quinque et tangeret parietem domus : et altera quinque cubitos habens, alam tangeret alterius cherub.
¹² Similiter cherub alterius ala, quinque habebat cubitos, et tangebat parietem : et ala ejus altera quinque cubitorum, alam cherub alterius contingebat.
¹³ Igitur alæ utriusque cherubim expansæ erant et extendebantur per cubitos viginti : ipsi autem stabant erectis pedibus, et facies eorum erant versæ ad exteriorem domum.
¹⁴ Fecit quoque velum ex hyacintho, purpura, cocco, et bysso : et intexuit ei cherubim.
¹⁵ Ante fores etiam templi duas columnas, quæ triginta et quinque cubitos habebant altitudinis : porro capita earum, quinque cubitorum.
¹⁶ Necnon et quasi catenulas in oraculo, et superposuit eas capitibus columnarum : malogranata etiam centum, quæ catenulis interposuit.
¹⁷ Ipsas quoque columnas posuit in vestibulo templi, unam a dextris, et alteram a sinistris : eam quæ a dextris erat, vocavit Jachin : et quæ ad lævam, Booz.
