¹ Et toutes les tribus d'Israël vinrent auprès de David, à Hébron, et lui dirent : Nous voici ; nous sommes tes os et ta chair.
² Ci-devant déjà, lorsque Saül était notre roi, c'est toi qui menais et ramenais Israël, et l'Eternel t'a dit : C'est toi qui seras le berger de mon peuple d'Israël, et c'est toi qui seras le prince d'Israël.
³ Et tous les Anciens d'Israël vinrent vers le roi à Hébron, et le roi David fit alliance avec eux à Hébron, devant l'Eternel, et ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël.
⁴ David avait trente ans lorsqu'il devint roi ; il règna quarante ans.
⁵ Il régna à Hébron sur Juda sept ans et six mois, et à Jérusalem trente-trois ans sur tout Israël et Juda.
⁶ Et le roi marcha avec ses hommes sur Jérusalem, contre les Jébusiens qui habitaient le pays. Et ils dirent à David : Tu n'entreras pas ici, à moins que tu n'aies repoussé les aveugles et les boiteux ! C'était pour dire : David n'entrera point ici.
⁷ Et David s'empara de la forteresse de Sion : c'est la cité de David.
⁸ Et David dit ce jour-là : Quiconque battra les Jébusiens et atteindra les créneaux, et les boiteux et les aveugles, ennemis de David... C'est pourquoi l'on dit : L'aveugle et le boiteux n'entreront point dans la maison.
⁹ Et David s'établit dans la forteresse et l'appela cité de David. Et David bâtit tout à l'entour, depuis Millo et au-dedans.
¹⁰ Et David allait s'avançant et grandissant, et l'Eternel, Dieu des armées, était avec lui.
¹¹ Et Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya à David des messagers et du bois de cèdre et des charpentiers et des maçons, qui bâtirent une maison à David.
¹² Et David reconnut que l'Eternel l'affermissait comme roi sur Israël et qu'il élevait son royaume à cause de son peuple d'Israël.
¹³ Et David prit encore des concubines et des femmes de Jérusalem, après qu'il fut venu d'Hébron, et il naquit encore à David des fils et des filles.
¹⁴ Et voici les noms de ceux qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem : Sammua, Sobab, Nathan, Salomon,
¹⁵ Jibhar, Elisua Népheg, Japhia,
¹⁶ Elisama, Eljada et Eliphélet.
¹⁷ Et quand les Philistins apprirent qu'on avait oint David pour roi sur Israël, tous les Philistins montèrent pour chercher David. Et David l'apprit et descendit au lieu fort.
¹⁸ Et les Philistins vinrent et se répandirent dans la vallée des Réphaïm.
¹⁹ Et David consulta l'Eternel, en disant : Monterai-je contre les Philistins ? les livreras-tu entre mes mains ? Et l'Eternel dit à David : Monte, car certainement je livrerai les Philistins entre tes mains.
²⁰ Et David vint à Baal-Pératsim et les battit là. Et il dit : L'Eternel a dispersé mes ennemis devant moi comme des eaux qui s'écoulent. C'est pourquoi on donna à ce lieu le nom de Baal-Pératsim.
²¹ Et ils abandonnèrent là leurs idoles, et David et ses gens les emportèrent.
²² Et les Philistins montèrent encore une fois et se répandirent dans la vallée des Réphaïm.
²³ Et David consulta l'Eternel, et il lui dit : Ne monte pas ; tourne-les par derrière et tu arriveras sur eux du côté des mûriers.
²⁴ Et quand tu entendras un bruit de pas dans les cimes des mûriers, alors attaque vivement, car alors l'Eternel est sorti à votre tête pour battre l'armée des Philistins.
²⁵ Et David fit comme l'Eternel le lui ordonnait, et il battit les Philistins depuis Guéba jusqu'à Guézer.

¹ Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
² Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.
⁴ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
⁵ In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
⁶ And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.
⁷ Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.
⁸ And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
⁹ So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
¹⁰ And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.
¹¹ And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
¹² And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.
¹³ And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
¹⁴ And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
¹⁵ Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
¹⁶ And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
¹⁷ But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.
¹⁸ The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
¹⁹ And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
²⁰ And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.
²¹ And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
²² And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
²³ And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
²⁴ And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
²⁵ And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.

¹ Et venerunt universæ tribus Israël ad David in Hebron, dicentes : Ecce nos os tuum et caro tua sumus.
² Sed et heri et nudiustertius cum esset Saul rex super nos, tu eras educens et reducens Israël : dixit autem Dominus ad te : Tu pasces populum meum Israël, et tu eris dux super Israël.
³ Venerunt quoque et seniores Israël ad regem in Hebron, et percussit cum eis rex David fœdus in Hebron coram Domino : unxeruntque David in regem super Israël.
⁴ Filius triginta annorum erat David cum regnare cœpisset, et quadraginta annis regnavit.
⁵ In Hebron regnavit super Judam septem annis et sex mensibus : in Jerusalem autem regnavit triginta tribus annis super omnem Israël et Judam.
⁶ Et abiit rex, et omnes viri qui erant cum eo, in Jerusalem, ad Jebusæum habitatorem terræ : dictumque est David ab eis : Non ingredieris huc, nisi abstuleris cæcos et claudos dicentes : Non ingredietur David huc.

⁸ Proposuerat enim David in die illa præmium, qui percussisset Jebusæum, et tetigisset domatum fistulas, et abstulisset cæcos et claudos odientes animam David. Idcirco dicitur in proverbio : Cæcus et claudus non intrabunt in templum.
⁹ Habitavit autem David in arce, et vocavit eam civitatem David : et ædificavit per gyrum a Mello et intrinsecus.

²⁰ Venit ergo David in Baal Pharasim : et percussit eos ibi, et dixit : Divisit Dominus inimicos meos coram me, sicut dividuntur aquæ. Propterea vocatum est nomen loci illius, Baal Pharasim.
²¹ Et reliquerunt ibi sculptilia sua, quæ tulit David et viri ejus.
²² Et addiderunt adhuc Philisthiim ut ascenderent, et diffusi sunt in valle Raphaim.
²³ Consuluit autem David Dominum : Si ascendam contra Philisthæos, et tradas eos in manus meas ? Qui respondit : Non ascendas contra eos, sed gyra post tergum eorum, et venies ad eos ex adverso pyrorum.
²⁴ Et cum audieris sonitum gradientis in cacumine pyrorum, tunc inibis prælium : quia tunc egredietur Dominus ante faciem tuam, ut percutiat castra Philisthiim.
²⁵ Fecit itaque David sicut præceperat ei Dominus, et percussit Philisthiim de Gabaa usque dum venias Gezer.
