1R 17:1-7 (King James)

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
² And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
³ Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
⁴ And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
⁵ So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
⁶ And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
⁷ And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

¹ Alors Élie, le Thishbite, l'un de ceux qui s'étaient établis en Galaad, dit à Achab: L'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, en la présence de qui je me tiens, est vivant! pendant ces années-ci, il n'y aura ni rosée ni pluie, sinon à ma parole.
² Et la parole de l'Éternel lui fut adressée en ces termes:
³ Va-t'en d'ici, tourne-toi vers l'Orient, et cache-toi au torrent de Kérith, qui est en face du Jourdain.
⁴ Tu boiras au torrent, et j'ai commandé aux corbeaux de t'y nourrir.
⁵ Il partit donc et fit selon la parole de l'Éternel; il s'en alla et demeura au torrent de Kérith, qui est en face du Jourdain.
⁶ Et les corbeaux lui apportaient du pain et de la viande le matin, du pain et de la viande le soir; et il buvait au torrent.
⁷ Mais il arriva qu'au bout de quelque temps le torrent fut à sec, parce qu'il n'y avait pas eu de pluie au pays.

¹ Et dixit Elias Thesbites de habitatoribus Galaad ad Achab : Vivit Dominus Deus Israël, in cujus conspectu sto, si erit annis his ros et pluvia, nisi juxta oris mei verba.
² Et factum est verbum Domini ad eum, dicens :
³ Recede hinc, et vade contra orientem, et abscondere in torrente Carith, qui est contra Jordanem,
⁴ et ibi de torrente bibes : corvisque præcepi ut pascant te ibi.
⁵ Abiit ergo, et fecit juxta verbum Domini : cumque abiisset, sedit in torrente Carith, qui est contra Jordanem.
⁶ Corvi quoque deferebant ei panem et carnes mane, similiter panem et carnes vesperi, et bibebat de torrente.
⁷ Post dies autem siccatus est torrens : non enim pluerat super terram.
