² Alors Salomon assembla à Jérusalem les anciens d'Israël et tous les chefs des tribus, les princes des familles des enfants d'Israël, pour transporter de la cité de David, c'est-à-dire de Sion, l'arche de l'alliance de Yahweh.
³ Tous les hommes d'Israël se réunirent auprès du roi pour la fête, qui ont lieu le septième mois.
⁴ Lorsque tous les anciens d'Israël furent arrivés, les fils de Lévi portèrent l'arche.
⁵ Ils transportèrent l'arche, ainsi que la tente de réunion et tous les ustensiles sacrés qui étaient dans la tente ; ce furent les prêtres Lévites qui les transportèrent.
⁶ Le roi Salomon et toute l'assemblée d'Israël convoquée auprès de lui, se tenaient devant l'arche. Ils immolèrent des brebis et des boeufs qui ne pouvaient être ni comptés ni nombrés à cause de leur multitude.
⁷ Les prêtres portèrent l'arche de l'alliance de Yahweh à sa place, dans le sanctuaire de la maison, dans le Saint des saints, sous les ailes des Chérubins ;
⁸ et les Chérubins étendaient leurs ailes sur la place de l'arche, et les Chérubins couvraient l'arche et ses barres par-dessus.
⁹ Les barres avaient une longueur telle que leurs extrémités se voyaient à distance de l'arche devant le sanctuaire ; mais on ne les voyait pas du dehors.
¹⁰ L'arche a été là jusqu'à ce jour. Il n'y avait dans l'arche que les deux tables que Moïse y avait placées à Horeb, lorsque Yahweh fit alliance avec les enfants d'Israël à leur sortie d'Égypte.

² Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.
³ Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto the king in the feast which was in the seventh month.
⁴ And all the elders of Israel came; and the Levites took up the ark.
⁵ And they brought up the ark, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, these did the priests and the Levites bring up.
⁶ Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
⁷ And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims:
⁸ For the cherubims spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.
⁹ And they drew out the staves of the ark, that the ends of the staves were seen from the ark before the oracle; but they were not seen without. And there it is unto this day.
¹⁰ There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.

² Post quæ congregavit majores natu Israël, et cunctos principes tribuum, et capita familiarum de filiis Israël in Jerusalem, ut adducerent arcam fœderis Domini de civitate David, quæ est Sion.
³ Venerunt itaque ad regem omnes viri Israël in die solemni mensis septimi.
⁴ Cumque venissent cuncti seniorum Israël, portaverunt Levitæ arcam,
⁵ et intulerunt eam, et omnem paraturam tabernaculi. Porro vasa sanctuarii, quæ erant in tabernaculo, portaverunt sacerdotes cum Levitis.
⁶ Rex autem Salomon, et universus cœtus Israël, et omnes qui fuerunt congregati ante arcam, immolabant arietes et boves absque ullo numero : tanta enim erat multitudo victimarum.
⁷ Et intulerunt sacerdotes arcam fœderis Domini in locum suum, id est, ad oraculum templi, in Sancta sanctorum subter alas cherubim :
⁸ ita ut cherubim expanderent alas suas super locum in quo posita erat arca, et ipsam arcam tegerent cum vectibus suis.
⁹ Vectium autem quibus portabatur arca, quia paululum longiores erant, capita parebant ante oraculum : si vero quis paululum fuisset extrinsecus, eos videre non poterat. Fuit itaque arca ibi usque in præsentem diem.
¹⁰ Nihilque erat aliud in arca, nisi duæ tabulæ quas posuerat Moyses in Horeb, quando legem dedit Dominus filiis Israël egredientibus ex Ægypto.
