   ⁷ And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. ⁸ And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together. ⁹ And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. ¹⁰ And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. ¹¹ When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. ¹² And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

⁷ Le dimanche, nous étions réunis pour rompre le pain. Comme il devait partir le lendemain, Paul s'entretenait avec les disciples, et il a prolongé son discours jusqu'à minuit. ⁸ Il y avait beaucoup de lampes dans la chambre à l'étage où nous étions rassemblés. ⁹ Or, un jeune homme du nom d'Eutychus était assis sur le bord de la fenêtre. Il s'est profondément endormi pendant le long discours de Paul et, entraîné par le sommeil, il est tombé du troisième étage. Quand on a cherché à le relever, il était mort. ¹⁰ Mais Paul est descendu, s'est penché sur lui et l'a pris dans ses bras en disant: «Ne vous inquiétez pas, car son âme est en lui.» ¹¹ Ensuite il est remonté, a rompu le pain et a mangé. Il a poursuivi ses entretiens jusqu'à l'aube, puis il est parti. ¹² Le jeune homme a été ramené vivant, à leur grande consolation.
