¹ The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
² Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.
³ And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.
⁴ The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.
⁵ For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.
⁶ And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;
⁷ Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD.
⁸ They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.
⁹ When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
¹⁰ There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
¹¹ Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
¹² For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
¹³ Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
¹⁴ For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.
¹⁵ The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
¹⁶ According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
¹⁷ And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
¹⁸ I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
¹⁹ And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
²⁰ But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
²¹ And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
²² When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

¹ Les sacrificateurs, les Lévites, la tribu entière de Lévi, n'auront ni part ni héritage avec Israël ; ils se nourriront des sacrifices consumés par le feu en l'honneur de l'Éternel et de l'héritage de l'Éternel.
² Ils n'auront point d'héritage au milieu de leurs frères: l'Éternel sera leur héritage, comme il le leur a dit.
³ Voici quel sera le droit des sacrificateurs sur le peuple, sur ceux qui offriront un sacrifice, un boeuf ou un agneau: on donnera au sacrificateur l'épaule, les mâchoires et l'estomac.
⁴ Tu lui donneras les prémices de ton blé, de ton moût et de ton huile, et les prémices de la toison de tes brebis ;
⁵ car c'est lui que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, a choisi entre toutes les tribus, pour qu'il fasse le service au nom de l'Éternel, lui et ses fils, à toujours.
⁶ Lorsque le Lévite quittera l'une de tes portes, le lieu quelconque où il demeure en Israël, pour se rendre, selon la plénitude de son désir, au lieu que choisira l'Éternel,
⁷ et qu'il fera le service au nom de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, comme tous ses frères les Lévites qui se tiennent là devant l'Éternel,
⁸ il recevra pour sa nourriture une portion égale à la leur, et jouira, en outre, des revenus de la vente de son patrimoine.
⁹ Lorsque tu seras entré dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne, tu n'apprendras point à imiter les abominations de ces nations-là.
¹⁰ Qu'on ne trouve chez toi personne qui fasse passer son fils ou sa fille par le feu, personne qui exerce le métier de devin, d'astrologue, d'augure, de magicien,
¹¹ d'enchanteur, personne qui consulte ceux qui évoquent les esprits ou disent la bonne aventure, personne qui interroge les morts.
¹² Car quiconque fait ces choses est en abomination à l'Éternel ; et c'est à cause de ces abominations que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, va chasser ces nations devant toi.
¹³ Tu seras entièrement à l'Éternel, ton Dieu.
¹⁴ Car ces nations que tu chasseras écoutent les astrologues et les devins ; mais à toi, l'Éternel, ton Dieu, ne le permet pas.
¹⁵ L'Éternel, ton Dieu, te suscitera du milieu de toi, d'entre tes frères, un prophète comme moi: vous l'écouterez !
¹⁶ Il répondra ainsi à la demande que tu fis à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, à Horeb, le jour de l'assemblée, quand tu disais: Que je n'entende plus la voix de l'Éternel, mon Dieu, et que je ne voie plus ce grand feu, afin de ne pas mourir.
¹⁷ L'Éternel me dit: Ce qu'il ont dit est bien.
¹⁸ Je leur susciterai du milieu de leurs frères un prophète comme toi, je mettrai mes paroles dans sa bouche, et il leur dira tout ce que je lui commanderai.
¹⁹ Et si quelqu'un n'écoute pas mes paroles qu'il dira en mon nom, c'est moi qui lui en demanderai compte.
²⁰ Mais le prophète qui aura l'audace de dire en mon nom une parole que je ne lui aurai point commandé de dire, ou qui parlera au nom d'autres dieux, ce prophète-là sera puni de mort.
²¹ Peut-être diras-tu dans ton coeur: Comment connaîtrons-nous la parole que l'Éternel n'aura point dite ?
²² Quand ce que dira le prophète n'aura pas lieu et n'arrivera pas, ce sera une parole que l'Éternel n'aura point dite. C'est par audace que le prophète l'aura dite: n'aie pas peur de lui.

¹ Non habebunt sacerdotes et Levitæ, et omnes qui de eadem tribu sunt, partem et hæreditatem cum reliquo Israël, quia sacrificia Domini, et oblationes ejus comedent,
² et nihil aliud accipient de possessione fratrum suorum : Dominus enim ipse est hæreditas eorum, sicut locutus est illis.
³ Hoc erit judicium sacerdotum a populo, et ab his qui offerunt victimas : sive bovem, sive ovem immolaverint, dabunt sacerdoti armum ac ventriculum :
⁴ primitias frumenti, vini, et olei, et lanarum partem ex ovium tonsione.
⁵ Ipsum enim elegit Dominus Deus tuus de cunctis tribubus tuis, ut stet, et ministret nomini Domini, ipse, et filii ejus in sempiternum.
⁶ Si exierit Levites ex una urbium tuarum ex omni Israël in qua habitat, et voluerit venire, desiderans locum quem elegerit Dominus,
⁷ ministrabit in nomine Domini Dei sui, sicut omnes fratres ejus Levitæ, qui stabunt eo tempore coram Domino.
⁸ Partem ciborum eamdem accipiet, quam et ceteri : excepto eo, quod in urbe sua ex paterna ei successione debetur.
⁹ Quando ingressus fueris terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi, cave ne imitari velis abominationes illarum gentium.
¹⁰ Nec inveniatur in te qui lustret filium suum, aut filiam, ducens per ignem : aut qui ariolos sciscitetur, et observet somnia atque auguria, nec sit maleficus,
¹¹ nec incantator, nec qui pythones consulat, nec divinos, aut quærat a mortuis veritatem.
¹² Omnia enim hæc abominatur Dominus, et propter istiusmodi scelera delebit eos in introitu tuo.
¹³ Perfectus eris, et absque macula cum Domino Deo tuo.
¹⁴ Gentes istæ, quarum possidebis terram, augures et divinos audiunt : tu autem a Domino Deo tuo aliter institutus es.
¹⁵ Prophetam de gente tua et de fratribus tuis, sicut me, suscitabit tibi Dominus Deus tuus : ipsum audies,
¹⁶ ut petisti a Domino Deo tuo in Horeb, quando concio congregata est, atque dixisti : Ultra non audiam vocem Domini Dei mei, et ignem hunc maximum amplius non videbo, ne moriar.
¹⁷ Et ait Dominus mihi : Bene omnia sunt locuti.
¹⁸ Prophetam suscitabo eis de medio fratrum suorum similem tui : et ponam verba mea in ore ejus, loqueturque ad eos omnia quæ præcepero illi.
¹⁹ Qui autem verba ejus, quæ loquetur in nomine meo, audire noluerit, ego ultor existam.
²⁰ Propheta autem qui arrogantia depravatus voluerit loqui in nomine meo, quæ ego non præcepi illi ut diceret, aut ex nomine alienorum deorum, interficietur.
²¹ Quod si tacita cogitatione responderis : Quomodo possum intelligere verbum, quod Dominus non est locutus ?
²² hoc habebis signum : quod in nomine Domini propheta ille prædixerit, et non evenerit : hoc Dominus non est locutus, sed per tumorem animi sui propheta confinxit : et idcirco non timebis eum.
