¹ Le désert et la terre aride se réjouiront ; la steppe sera dans l'allégresse, et fleurira comme le narcisse ;
² il se couvrira de fleurs et tressaillira, il poussera des cris de joie. La gloire du Liban lui sera donnée, avec la magnificence du Carmel et de Saron. Ils verront la gloire de Yahweh, la magnificence de notre Dieu !
³ Fortifiez les mains défaillantes, et affermissez les genoux qui chancellent !
⁴ Dites à ceux qui ont le coeur troublé ; "Prenez courage, ne craignez point : Voici votre Dieu ; la vengeance vient, une revanche divine, il vient lui-même et vous sauvera".
⁵ Alors s'ouvriront les yeux des aveugles, alors s'ouvriront les oreilles des sourds.
⁶ Le boiteux bondira comme un cerf, et la langue du muet éclatera de joie. Car des eaux jailliront dans le désert, et des ruisseaux dans la steppe,
⁷ Le sol brûlé se changera en un lac, et la terre altérée en sources d'eaux ; le repaire où gîtaient les chacals deviendra un parc de roseaux et de joncs.
⁸ Il y aura là une route, une voie, qu'on appellera la voie sainte ; nul impur n'y passera ; elle n'est que pour eux seuls ; Ceux qui la suivront, les simples mêmes, ne s'égareront pas.
⁹ Là il n'y aura point de lion ; aucune bête féroce n'y mettra le pied ; on ne l'y trouvera pas. Les délivrés y marcheront,
¹⁰ et les rachetés de Yahweh reviendront ; ils viendront en Sion avec des cris de joie ; une allégresse éternelle couronnera leur tête ; la joie et l'allégresse les envahiront, la douleur et le gémissement s'enfuiront.

¹ The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
² It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.
³ Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
⁴ Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
⁶ Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
⁷ And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
⁸ And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
⁹ No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:
¹⁰ And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

¹ [Lætabitur deserta et invia, et exsultabit solitudo, et florebit quasi lilium.
² Germinans germinabit, et exsultabit lætabunda et laudans : gloria Libani data est ei, decor Carmeli et Saron ; ipsi videbunt gloriam Domini, et decorem Dei nostri.
³ Confortate manus dissolutas, et genua debilia roborate.
⁴ Dicite pusillanimis : Confortamini, et nolite timere : ecce Deus vester ultionem adducet retributionis ; Deus ipse veniet, et salvabit vos.
⁵ Tunc aperientur oculi cæcorum, et aures surdorum patebunt ;
⁶ tunc saliet sicut cervus claudus, et aperta erit lingua mutorum : quia scissæ sunt in deserto aquæ, et torrentes in solitudine ;
⁷ et quæ erat arida, erit in stagnum, et sitiens in fontes aquarum. In cubilibus, in quibus prius dracones habitabant, orietur viror calami et junci.
⁸ Et erit ibi semita et via, et via sancta vocabitur : non transibit per eam pollutus, et hæc erit vobis directa via, ita ut stulti non errent per eam.
⁹ Non erit ibi leo, et mala bestia non ascendet per eam, nec invenietur ibi ; et ambulabunt qui liberati fuerint.
