Es 42:1-9 (Annotée Neuchâtel)

¹ Voici mon serviteur, que je soutiendrai, mon élu, en qui mon âme prend plaisir ; j'ai mis mon Esprit sur lui ; il fera régner le droit parmi les nations.
² Il ne criera point, il n'élèvera point sa voix et ne la fera point entendre dans les rues ;
³ il ne brisera pas le roseau froissé et n'éteindra pas le lumignon prêt à mourir ; il fera régner le droit en vérité.
⁴ Il ne faiblira, ni ne sera abattu, jusqu'à ce qu'il ait établi le droit sur la terre ; et les îles se confieront en sa loi.
⁵ Ainsi parle Dieu, l'Eternel, qui a créé les, cieux et les a déployés, qui a étendu la terre et ses productions, qui donne la respiration au peuple qui l'habite et le souffle à ceux qui y marchent :
⁶ Moi, l'Eternel, je t'ai appelé avec justice, et je t'ai pris par la main ; je t'ai gardé, et j'ai fait de toi l'alliance du peuple, la lumière des nations,
⁷ pour ouvrir les yeux des aveugles, pour faire sortir de la prison les captifs, du cachot ceux qui sont assis dans les ténèbres.
⁸ Je suis l'Eternel, c'est là mon nom ; et je ne donnerai ma gloire à nul autre, ni l'honneur qui m'appartient, aux idoles.
⁹ Voilà, les premières choses sont arrivées, et je vous en annonce de nouvelles ; avant qu'elles éclosent je vous les ferai entendre.

¹ Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
² He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
³ A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
⁴ He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
⁵ Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
⁶ I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
⁷ To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
⁸ I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
⁹ Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
