¹ And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife, take thee a barber's razor, and cause it to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
² Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.
³ Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.
⁴ Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
⁵ Thus saith the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.
⁶ And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.
⁷ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you;
⁸ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.
⁹ And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.
¹⁰ Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter into all the winds.
¹¹ Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.
¹² A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
¹³ Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the LORD have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.
¹⁴ Moreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by.
¹⁵ So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.
¹⁶ When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:
¹⁷ So will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee: and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the LORD have spoken it.

Jugement et dispersion d'Israël

¹ »Quant à toi, fils de l'homme, prends un couteau tranchant, un rasoir de barbier! Prends-le et rase-toi la tête et la barbe! Prends ensuite une balance et partage ce qui a été rasé.
² Tu en brûleras un tiers dans le feu, au milieu de la ville, lorsque la période de siège prendra fin. Tu en prendras un tiers pour le frapper avec l'épée tout autour de la ville. Tu en disperseras un tiers au vent et je les poursuivrai avec l'épée.
³ Tu en prendras une petite quantité que tu serreras dans les pans de ton habit,
⁴ et parmi eux tu en prendras quelques-uns que tu jetteras au feu pour les faire brûler. De là sortira un feu qui s'attaquera à toute la communauté d'Israël.
⁵ »Voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Cette Jérusalem-là, je l'avais placée au milieu des nations, environnée de pays.
⁶ Elle s'est révoltée contre mes règles avec plus de méchanceté que les nations, elle s'est révoltée contre mes prescriptions plus que les pays environnants. En effet, ses habitants ont méprisé mes règles, ils n'ont pas suivi mes prescriptions.
⁷ C'est pourquoi, voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Parce que vous vous êtes insurgés plus encore que les nations environnantes, parce que vous n'avez pas suivi mes prescriptions et mis mes règles en pratique, et que vous ne vous êtes même pas conformés aux règles en vigueur chez les nations qui vous entourent,
⁸ à cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Je t'en veux, moi aussi, et j'appliquerai mes règles au milieu de toi sous les yeux des nations.
⁹ A cause de toutes tes pratiques abominables, je te ferai ce que je n'ai pas encore fait et ce que je ne ferai jamais plus.
¹⁰ »Voilà pourquoi on trouvera au milieu de toi des pères contraints de manger leurs enfants et des enfants contraints de manger leurs pères. Je mettrai mes jugements en œuvre contre toi et je disperserai à tout vent tout ce qui restera de toi.
¹¹ Voilà pourquoi – aussi vrai que je suis vivant, déclare le Seigneur, l'Eternel – puisque tu as rendu mon sanctuaire impur par toutes tes monstruosités et toutes tes pratiques abominables, moi aussi je me retirerai et mon regard sera sans pitié. Moi non plus, je n'aurai aucune compassion.
¹² Un tiers de tes habitants mourra de la peste ou sera exterminé par la famine au milieu de toi; un tiers tombera sous les coups d'épée autour de toi; enfin j'en disperserai un tiers à tout vent et je les poursuivrai avec l'épée.
¹³ »J'irai jusqu'au bout de ma colère, je ferai reposer ma fureur sur eux et j'obtiendrai réparation. Ils reconnaîtront que je suis l'Eternel, que j'ai parlé dans ma jalousie en allant jusqu'au bout de ma fureur contre eux.
¹⁴ Je ferai de toi une ruine et un sujet d'insulte parmi les nations qui t'environnent, aux yeux de tous les passants.
¹⁵ Tu seras insultée et ridiculisée, tu seras un exemple et un sujet de stupéfaction pour les nations qui t'environnent, quand j'aurai mis des jugements en œuvre contre toi avec colère, avec fureur et avec de furieux reproches – c'est moi, l'Eternel, qui parle –
¹⁶ quand j'aurai lancé sur vous les flèches funestes et destructrices de la famine, celles que j'enverrai pour vous détruire. J'augmenterai la rigueur de la famine qui pèsera sur vous et je vous priverai de pain.
¹⁷ J'enverrai contre vous la famine et les bêtes féroces; elles vous priveront d'enfants. La peste et la violence passeront au milieu de vous et je ferai venir l'épée sur vous. C'est moi, l'Eternel, qui parle.»

¹ Et tu, fili hominis, sume tibi gladium acutum, radentem pilos, et assumes eum et duces per caput tuum et per barbam tuam, et assumes tibi stateram ponderis et divides eos.
² Tertiam partem igni combures in medio civitatis, juxta completionem dierum obsidionis, et assumes tertiam partem, et concides gladio in circuitu ejus : tertiam vero aliam disperges in ventum, et gladium nudabo post eos.
³ Et sumes inde parvum numerum, et ligabis eos in summitate pallii tui :
⁴ et ex eis rursum tolles, et projicies eos in medio ignis, et combures eos igni, et ex eo egredietur ignis in omnem domum Israël.
⁵ Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ista est Jerusalem : in medio gentium posui eam, et in circuitu ejus terras.
⁶ Et contempsit judicia mea, ut plus esset impia quam gentes, et præcepta mea ultra quam terræ quæ in circuitu ejus sunt : judicia enim mea projecerunt, et in præceptis meis non ambulaverunt.
⁷ Idcirco hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Quia superastis gentes quæ in circuitu vestro sunt, et in præceptis meis non ambulastis, et judicia mea non fecistis, et juxta judicia gentium quæ in circuitu vestro sunt non estis operati,
⁸ ideo hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego ad te, et ipse ego faciam in medio tui judicia in oculis gentium :
⁹ et faciam in te quod non feci, et quibus similia ultra non faciam, propter omnes abominationes tuas.
¹⁰ Ideo patres comedent filios in medio tui, et filii comedent patres suos : et faciam in te judicia, et ventilabo universas reliquias tuas in omnem ventum.
¹¹ Idcirco vivo ego, dicit Dominus Deus, nisi pro eo quod sanctum meum violasti in omnibus offensionibus tuis et in cunctis abominationibus tuis, ego quoque confringam : et non parcet oculus meus, et non miserebor.
¹² Tertia pars tui peste morietur, et fame consumetur in medio tui, et tertia pars tui in gladio cadet in circuitu tuo : tertiam vero partem tuam in omnem ventum dispergam, et gladium evaginabo post eos.
¹³ Et complebo furorem meum, et requiescere faciam indignationem meam in eis, et consolabor : et scient quia ego Dominus locutus sum in zelo meo, cum implevero indignationem meam in eis.
¹⁴ Et dabo te in desertum, et in opprobrium gentibus quæ in circuitu tuo sunt, in conspectu omnis prætereuntis :
¹⁵ et eris opprobrium et blasphemia, exemplum et stupor in gentibus quæ in circuitu tuo sunt, cum fecero in te judicia in furore, et in indignatione, et in increpationibus iræ.
