Mc 1:1-8 (King James)

¹ The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
² As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
⁴ John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
⁵ And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
⁶ And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
⁷ And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
⁸ I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

¹ Commencement de l'Évangile de Jésus-Christ, Fils de Dieu.
² Conformément à ce qui avait été écrit dans les prophètes: Voici, j'envoie mon messager devant ta face, qui préparera le chemin devant toi:
³ Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert: Préparez le chemin du Seigneur; aplanissez ses sentiers.
⁴ Jean baptisait dans le désert, et prêchait le baptême de repentance, pour la rémission des péchés.
⁵ Et toute la Judée et les habitants de Jérusalem allaient à lui, et ils étaient tous baptisés par lui dans le fleuve du Jourdain, en confessant leurs péchés.
⁶ Jean était vêtu de poils de chameau, il avait une ceinture de cuir autour de ses reins, et il se nourrissait de sauterelles et de miel sauvage.
⁷ Et il prêchait en disant: Il en vient un après moi, qui est plus puissant que moi, et dont je ne suis pas digne, en me baissant, de délier la courroie des souliers.
⁸ Pour moi je vous ai baptisés d'eau, mais lui vous baptisera du Saint-Esprit.

⁶ ἦν δὲ ἰωάννης ἐνδεδυμένος τρίχας καμήλου καὶ ζώνην δερματίνην περὶ τὴν ὀσφὺν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐσθίων ἀκρίδας καὶ μέλι ἄγριον
⁷ καὶ ἐκήρυσσεν λέγων, ἕρχεται ὁ ἰσχυρότερός μου ὀπίσω μου οὗ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἱκανὸς κύψας λῦσαι τὸν ἱμάντα τῶν ὑποδημάτων αὐτοῦ
⁸ ἐγὼ μὲν ἐβάπτισα ὑμᾶς ἐν ὕδατι αὐτὸς δὲ βαπτίσει ὑμᾶς ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ

² Sicut scriptum est in Isaia propheta : [Ecce ego mitto angelum meum ante faciem tuam, qui præparabit viam tuam ante te.
³ Vox clamantis in deserto : Parate viam Domini, rectas facite semitas ejus.]
⁴ Fuit Joannes in deserto baptizans, et prædicans baptismum pœnitentiæ in remissionem peccatorum.
⁵ Et egrediebatur ad eum omnis Judææ regio, et Jerosolymitæ universi, et baptizabantur ab illo in Jordanis flumine, confitentes peccata sua.
⁶ Et erat Joannes vestitus pilis cameli, et zona pellicea circa lumbos ejus, et locustas et mel silvestre edebat.
⁷ Et prædicabat dicens : Venit fortior me post me, cujus non sum dignus procumbens solvere corrigiam calceamentorum ejus.
⁸ Ego baptizavi vos aqua, ille vero baptizabit vos Spiritu Sancto.
