¹ Malheur à ceux qui méditent l'iniquité et qui trament le mal sur leurs couches : au point du jour ils l'exécutent, car ils ont pour dieu leur bras.
² Ils convoitent des champs et ils les ravissent ; des maisons, et ils s'en emparent ; ils font violence à l'homme et à sa maison, au maître et à sa propriété.
³ C'est pourquoi, ainsi a dit l'Eternel : Voici, je médite contre cette race un mal dont vous ne pourrez retirer votre cou, et vous n'irez plus la tête haute ; car c'est un temps mauvais.
⁴ En ce jour-là, on fera sur vous un proverbe, et on chantera une complainte. On dira : C'en est fait ! Nous sommes entièrement ravagés ; il aliène la part de mon peuple ! Comment me l'enlève-t-il ? Il partage nos champs aux infidèles !
⁵ C'est pourquoi, tu n'auras personne chez toi qui étende le cordeau sur un lot dans l'assemblée de l'Eternel.
⁶ Ne prophétisez plus, prophétisent-ils. Si on ne prophétise à ceux-ci, l'opprobre ne s'éloignera pas.
⁷ Toi qu'on nomme maison de Jacob, l'Eternel est-il prompt à s'irriter ? Est-ce là sa manière d'agir ? N'ai-je pas de bonnes paroles pour celui qui marche dans la droiture ?
⁸ Hier, mon peuple s'est levé en ennemi. De dessus la robe vous arrachez le manteau ; ceux qui passent en sécurité sont traités en ennemis.
⁹ Vous chassez les femmes de mon peuple de la maison dont elles font leurs délices ; vous ravissez pour jamais ma gloire à ses petits enfants.
¹⁰ Levez-vous ! Partez ! Car ce pays n'est pas le lieu du repos ; à cause de la souillure, il vous détruira d'une cruelle destruction.
¹¹ S'il venait un homme courant après le vent et débitant des mensonges en disant : Je te prophétiserai de vin et de cervoise ! ce serait le prophète de ce peuple-ci !
¹² Je te rassemblerai, ô Jacob, je te rassemblerai tout entier ; je veux, je veux recueillir les restes d'Israël ; je les réunirai comme des brebis dans un bercail ; tel un troupeau au milieu de son parc, ainsi bruira la multitude des hommes.
¹³ Celui qui fait la brèche monte devant eux ; ils font la brèche, ils franchissent la porte et sortent par elle ; leur Roi marche devant eux, et l'Eternel est à leur tête.

¹ Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.
² And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.
³ Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.
⁴ In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.
⁵ Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD.
⁶ Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.
⁷ O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?
⁸ Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.
⁹ The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever.
¹⁰ Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.
¹¹ If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.
¹² I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
¹³ The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.
