Ps 109 (Annotée Neuchâtel)

¹ Au maître chantre. Psaume de David. Dieu de ma louange, ne garde pas le silence !
² Car ils ouvrent contre moi une bouche méchante, Une bouche perfide ; Ils me parlent avec une langue mensongère,
³ Il m'environnent de discours haineux, Ils me font la guerre sans cause.
⁴ En réponse à mon affection, ils s'élèvent comme partie adverse ; Et moi, je prie.
⁵ Ils m'ont rendu le mal pour le bien, Et la haine pour mon amour.
⁶ Fais-le poursuivre par un méchant, Et qu'une partie adverse se tienne à sa droite !
⁷ Que du jugement il sorte coupable, Et que sa prière lui soit imputée à péché !
⁸ Que ses jours soient peu nombreux, Et qu'un autre prenne sa charge.
⁹ Que ses enfants soient orphelins, Et sa femme veuve,
¹⁰ Et que ses enfants aillent errants et mendient, Quêtant loin de leur demeure en ruines.
¹¹ Que le créancier se saisisse de tout ce qui est à lui, Et que le fruit de son travail soit la proie d'étrangers !
¹² Que nul ne lui accorde une prolongation de faveur, Et que nul n'ait pitié de ses orphelins !
¹³ Que sa postérité soit vouée à la destruction, Et que dès l'âge suivant leur nom soit effacé.
¹⁴ Qu'on rappelle devant l'Eternel l'iniquité de ses pères, Et que le péché de sa mère ne soit point effacé,
¹⁵ Qu'ils soient toujours devant l'Eternel ; Et qu'il retranche leur mémoire de la terre !
¹⁶ Car aussi il ne s'est pas souvenu d'user de miséricorde, Et il a poursuivi l'homme affligé et indigent, L'homme au coeur brisé, pour le faire mourir !
¹⁷ Il a aimé la malédiction, Elle le recherche ; Il n'a point pris plaisir à la bénédiction, Elle s'éloigne de lui !
¹⁸ Il a revêtu la malédiction comme son vêtement, Elle pénètre au-dedans de lui comme de l'eau Et dans ses os comme de l'huile.
¹⁹ Qu'elle soit pour lui comme l'habit dont il se couvre, Comme une ceinture dont il soit toujours ceint !
²⁰ Tel sera, de par l'Eternel, le salaire de mes adversaires, Et de ceux qui profèrent du mal contre mon âme.
²¹ Mais toi, Eternel, Seigneur, Agis en ma faveur à cause de ton nom, Car ta miséricorde est bonne ; délivre-moi !
²² Car je suis affligé et indigent, Et mon coeur est transpercé au-dedans de moi.
²³ Comme l'ombre qui s'allonge..., je m'en vais, Je suis emporté comme la sauterelle.
²⁴ Mes genoux sont affaiblis par le jeûne, Et ma chair dépérit de maigreur.
²⁵ Je suis pour eux un objet d'opprobre ; En me voyant, ils hochent la tête.
²⁶ Sois-moi en aide, Eternel, mon Dieu ! Sauve-moi, selon ta miséricorde,
²⁷ Et qu'ils sachent que c'est ta main, Que c'est toi, Eternel, qui l'as fait !
²⁸ S'ils maudissent, toi tu béniras ; S'ils se lèvent, ils seront honteux, Et ton serviteur se réjouira.
²⁹ Mes adversaires seront revêtus de confusion Et couverts de leur honte comme d'un manteau.
³⁰ Ma bouche louera hautement l'Eternel, Et je le célébrerai au milieu de la multitude,
³¹ Car il se tient à la droite du pauvre, Pour le délivrer de ceux qui condamnent son âme !

¹ Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
² For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
³ They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
⁴ For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
⁵ And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
⁶ Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
⁷ When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
⁸ Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
⁹ Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
¹⁰ Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
¹¹ Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
¹² Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
¹³ Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
¹⁵ Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
¹⁶ Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
¹⁷ As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
¹⁸ As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
¹⁹ Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.
²⁰ Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
²¹ But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.
²² For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
²³ I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.
²⁴ My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.
²⁵ I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.
²⁶ Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:
²⁷ That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.
²⁸ Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.
²⁹ Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.
³⁰ I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
³¹ For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

² Virgam virtutis tuæ emittet Dominus ex Sion : dominare in medio inimicorum tuorum.
³ Tecum principium in die virtutis tuæ in splendoribus sanctorum : ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te.
⁴ Juravit Dominus, et non pœnitebit eum : Tu es sacerdos in æternum secundum ordinem Melchisedech.
⁵ Dominus a dextris tuis ; confregit in die iræ suæ reges.
