Rm 10 (Catholique Crampon)

¹ Frères, le voeu de mon coeur et ma prière à Dieu pour eux, c'est qu'ils soient sauvés.
² Car je leur rends le témoignage qu'ils ont du zèle pour Dieu, mais c'est un zèle mal éclairé.
³ Ne connaissant pas la justice de Dieu, et cherchant à établir leur propre justice, ils ne se sont pas soumis à la justice de Dieu.
⁴ C'est qu'en effet le fin de la Loi c'est le Christ, pour la justification de tout homme qui croit.
⁵ En effet, Moïse dit de la justice qui vient de la Loi : "l'homme qui mettra ces choses en pratique vivra par elles."
⁶ Mais voici comment parle la justice qui vient de la foi : "Ne dis pas dans ton coeur : qui montera au Ciel ?" Ce qui signifie en faire descendre le Christ ;
⁷ ou : "qui descendra dans l'abîme ? "ce qui signifie faire remonter le Christ d'entre les morts
⁸ Que dit-elle donc ? "Près de toi est la parole, dans ta bouche et dans ton coeur. "C'est la parole de la foi que prêchons.
⁹ Si tu confesses de ta bouche Jésus comme Seigneur, et si tu crois dans ton coeur que Dieu l'a ressuscité des morts tu seras sauvé.
¹⁰ Car c'est en croyant de coeur qu'on parvient à la justice, et c'est en confessant de bouche qu'on parvient au salut,
¹¹ selon ce que dit l'Écriture : "quiconque croit en lui ne sera pas confondu."
¹² Il n'y a pas de différence entre le Juif et le Gentil, parce que le même Christ est le Seigneur de tous, étant riche envers tous ceux qui l'invoquent.
¹³ Car "quiconque invoquera le nom du Seigneur sera sauvé."
¹⁴ Comment donc invoquera-t-on celui en qui on n'a pas encore cru ? Et comment croira-t-on en celui dont on n'a pas entendu parler ? Et comment en entendra-t-on parler s'il n'y a pas de prédicateur ?
¹⁵ Et comment seront-ils prédicateurs, s'ils ne sont pas envoyés ? selon qu'il est écrit : "qu'ils sont beaux les pieds de ceux qui annoncent le bonheur !"
¹⁶ Mais tous n'ont pas obéi à l'Évangile ; car Isaïe dit : "Seigneur, qui a cru à notre prédication ?"
¹⁷ Ainsi la foi vient de la prédication entendue, et la prédication se fait par la parole de Dieu.
¹⁸ Mais je demande : n'ont-ils pas entendu ? Au contraire : "leur voix est allée vers toute la terre, et leurs paroles jusqu'aux extrémités du monde."
¹⁹ Je demande encore : Israël n'en a-t-il pas eu connaissance ? Moïse le premier a dit : "j'exciterai votre jalousie contre une nation qui n'en est pas une ; j'exciterai votre colère contre une nation sans intelligence."
²⁰ Et Isaïe pousse la hardiesse jusqu'à dire : "j'ai été trouvé par ceux qui ne me cherchaient pas, je me suis manifesté à ceux qui ne me demandaient pas."
²¹ Mais au sujet d'Israël il dit : " J'ai tendu mes mains tout le jour vers un peuple incroyant et rebelle."

¹ Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
² For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
⁵ For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
⁶ But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
⁷ Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
⁸ But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
⁹ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
¹¹ For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
¹³ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
¹⁴ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
¹⁶ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
¹⁷ So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
¹⁸ But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
¹⁹ But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
²⁰ But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
²¹ But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
