¹ Et Moïse, avec les Anciens d'Israël, donna des ordres au peuple en disant : Vous observerez tout le commandement que je vous donne aujourd'hui.
² Lorsque vous aurez passé le Jourdain pour entrer dans le pays que l'Eternel ton Dieu te donne, tu te dresseras de grandes pierres, et tu les enduiras de chaux.
³ Et tu écriras sur elles toutes les paroles de cette loi, quand tu auras passé, afin que tu t'établisses dans le pays que l'Eternel ton Dieu te donne, pays découlant de lait et de miel, comme te l'a dit l'Eternel, le Dieu de tes pères.
⁴ Quand donc vous aurez passé le Jourdain, vous dresserez sur le mont Ebal ces pierres au sujet desquelles je vous donne aujourd'hui cet ordre, et tu les enduiras de chaux.
⁵ Et tu bâtiras là un autel à l'Eternel ton Dieu, un autel de pierres sur lesquelles tu ne porteras pas le fer.
⁶ C'est en pierres brutes que tu bâtiras l'autel de l'Eternel ton Dieu, et tu offriras sur cet autel des holocaustes à l'Eternel ton Dieu.
⁷ Tu offriras aussi des sacrifices d'actions de grâces, et tu mangeras là et tu te réjouiras en présence de l'Eternel ton Dieu.
⁸ Et tu écriras sur ces pierres toutes les paroles de cette loi bien distinctement.
⁹ Et Moïse, avec les sacrificateurs lévitiques, parla ainsi à tout Israël : Fais silence et écoute, ô Israël ! En ce jour-ci tu es devenu le peuple de l'Eternel ton Dieu.
¹⁰ Tu obéiras donc à la voix de l'Eternel ton Dieu, et tu accompliras ses commandements et ses statuts que je te prescris aujourd'hui.
¹¹ Et Moïse donna en ce jour-là au peuple l'ordre suivant :
¹² Ceux-ci se tiendront sur le mont Garizim pour bénir le peuple, lorsque vous aurez passé le Jourdain : Siméon, Lévi, Juda, Issacar, Joseph et Benjamin.
¹³ Et ceux-ci se tiendront sur le mont Ebal pour maudire : Ruben, Gad, Asser, Zabulon, Dan et Nephthali.
¹⁴ Et les Lévites prendront la parole et diront d'une voix haute à tout homme d'Israël :
¹⁵ Maudit, l'homme qui fait une image taillée ou une image de fonte, exécration de l'Eternel, oeuvre de main d'artisan, et qui la place dans un lieu secret ! Et tout le peuple répondra et dira Amen !
¹⁶ Maudit, celui qui traite avec mépris son père ou sa mère ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
¹⁷ Maudit, celui qui déplace la borne de son prochain ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
¹⁸ Maudit, celui qui fait égarer un aveugle en son chemin ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
¹⁹ Maudit, celui qui fait fléchir le droit de l'étranger, de l'orphelin et de la veuve ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
²⁰ Maudit, celui qui couche avec la femme de son père, car il soulève la couverture de son père ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
²¹ Maudit, celui qui couche avec une bête quelconque ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
²² Maudit, celui qui couche avec sa soeur, fille de son père ou fille de sa mère ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
²³ Maudit, celui qui couche avec sa belle-mère ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
²⁴ Maudit, celui qui frappe son prochain en secret ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
²⁵ Maudit, celui qui reçoit un présent pour frapper une vie, verser un sang innocent ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !
²⁶ Maudit, quiconque ne maintient pas les paroles de cette loi, en les accomplissant ! Et tout le peuple dira : Amen !

¹ And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.
² And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:
³ And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
⁴ Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.
⁵ And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
⁶ Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:
⁷ And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.
⁸ And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
⁹ And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.
¹⁰ Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
¹¹ And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,
¹² These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
¹³ And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
¹⁴ And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
¹⁵ Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
¹⁶ Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
¹⁷ Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.
¹⁸ Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.
¹⁹ Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
²⁰ Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
²¹ Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
²² Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
²³ Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen.
²⁴ Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.
²⁵ Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.

¹ Præcepit autem Moyses et seniores Israël populo, dicentes : Custodite omne mandatum quod præcipio vobis hodie.
² Cumque transieritis Jordanem in terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi, eriges ingentes lapides, et calce lævigabis eos,
³ ut possis in eis scribere omnia verba legis hujus, Jordane transmisso : ut introëas terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi, terram lacte et melle manantem, sicut juravit patribus tuis.
⁴ Quando ergo transieritis Jordanem, erigite lapides, quos ego hodie præcipio vobis in monte Hebal, et lævigabis eos calce :
⁵ et ædificabis ibi altare Domino Deo tuo de lapidibus, quos ferrum non tetigit,
⁶ et de saxis informibus et impolitis : et offeres super eo holocausta Domino Deo tuo,
⁷ et immolabis hostias pacificas, comedesque ibi, et epulaberis coram Domino Deo tuo.
⁸ Et scribes super lapides omnia verba legis hujus plane et lucide.

¹¹ Præcepitque Moyses populo in die illo, dicens :
¹² Hi stabunt ad benedicendum populo super montem Garizim, Jordane transmisso : Simeon, Levi, Judas, Issachar, Joseph, et Benjamin.
¹³ Et e regione isti stabunt ad maledicendum in monte Hebal : Ruben, Gad, et Aser, et Zabulon, Dan, et Nephthali.
¹⁴ Et pronuntiabunt Levitæ, dicentque ad omnes viros Israël excelsa voce :
¹⁵ Maledictus homo qui facit sculptile et conflatile, abominationem Domini, opus manuum artificum, ponetque illud in abscondito : et respondebit omnis populus, et dicet : Amen.
¹⁶ Maledictus qui non honorat patrem suum, et matrem : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.
¹⁷ Maledictus qui transfert terminos proximi sui : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.
