⁹ C'est ici l'histoire de Noé. Noé était un homme juste, intègre parmi les hommes de son temps ; Noé marchait avec Dieu.
¹⁰ Et Noé eut trois fils, Sem, Cham et Japheth.
¹¹ Et la terre se corrompit devant Dieu, et la terre se remplit de violence.
¹² Et Dieu vit la terre, et voici elle était corrompue, car toute chair suivait sur la terre une voie de corruption.
¹³ Et Dieu dit à Noé : La fin de toute chair est venue devant moi car par eux la terre est pleine de violence. Je vais les détruire, ainsi que la terre.
¹⁴ Fais-toi une arche de bois résineux ; tu la feras composée de cellules et tu l'enduiras de poix en dedans et en dehors.
¹⁵ Et voici comment tu la feras ; la longueur de l'arche sera de trois cents coudées, sa largeur de cinquante et sa hauteur de trente.
¹⁶ Tu feras une ouverture à l'arche, et tu la feras d'une coudée depuis le toit. Tu mettras la porte de l'arche sur le côté. Tu feras un premier, un second et un troisième étage de cellules.
¹⁷ Et moi je vais faire venir le déluge, une inondation de la terre, pour détruire de dessous les cieux toute chair ayant en soi souffle de vie. Tout ce qui est sur la terre périra.
¹⁸ Mais j'établirai mon alliance avec toi, et tu entreras dans l'arche, toi, tes fils, ta femme et les femmes de tes fils avec toi.
¹⁹ Et de tout ce qui vit, de toutes les espèces d'animaux, tu en feras entrer deux de chacune dans l'arche, pour les conserver en vie ainsi que toi ; ce sera un mâle et une femelle.
²⁰ Des oiseaux des diverses espèces, des quadrupèdes des diverses espèces et de toutes les diverses espèces d'animaux qui rampent sur le sol, il en viendra vers toi deux de chacune pour que tu les conserves en vie.
²¹ Et toi, prends de tout ce qui peut se manger et fais-en provision ; cela servira à ta nourriture et à la leur.
²² Et Noé se mit à l'oeuvre ; il fit tout ainsi que Dieu le lui avait ordonné.

¹ Et l'Eternel dit à Noé : Entre, toi et toute ta famille dans l'arche, car je t'ai vu juste devant moi au milieu de cette génération.
² De tous les animaux purs tu en prendras sept paires, les mâles et leurs femelles, et de tous les animaux qui ne sont pas purs, tu en prendras deux, un mâle et sa femelle ;
³ et aussi des oiseaux des cieux sept paires, mâles et femelles, pour en conserver la race sur la face de toute la terre.
⁴ Car sept jours encore, et je ferai pleuvoir sur la terre quarante jours et quarante nuits, et j'effacerai de dessus le sol tous les êtres que j'ai faits.
⁵ Et Noé fit tout ce que l'Eternel lui avait ordonné.
⁶ Et Noé avait six cents ans quand eut lieu le déluge, une inondation de
⁷ Et Noé entra dans l'arche, et avec lui ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils, de devant les eaux du déluge.
⁸ Des animaux purs et de ceux qui ne sont pas purs, des oiseaux et de tout ce qui rampe sur le sol,
⁹ chaque paire, mâle et femelle, entra vers Noé dans l'arche, comme Dieu l'avait ordonné à Noé.
¹⁰ Et au bout des sept jours les eaux du déluge furent sur la terre.
¹¹ L'an six cent de la vie de Noé, au deuxième mois, le dix-septième jour du mois, en ce jour-là toutes les fontaines du grand abîme jaillirent et les écluses des cieux s'ouvrirent,
¹² et la pluie tomba sur la terre quarante jours et quarante nuits.
¹³ En ce jour même, Noé entra dans l'arche, ainsi que Sem, Cham et Japheth, fils de Noé, et la femme de Noé et les trois femmes de ses fils avec eux ;
¹⁴ eux et tous les animaux sauvages des diverses espèces et tous les bestiaux des diverses espèces et tous les reptiles des diverses espèces qui rampent sur la terre et tous les oiseaux des diverses espèces, tous les petits oiseaux, tout ce qui a des ailes.
¹⁵ Il vint vers Noé, dans l'arche deux de chaque sorte de créature ayant souffle de vie ;
¹⁶ ils arrivaient mâle et femelle, de toute chair, comme Dieu le lui avait ordonné. Et l'Eternel ferma la porte sur lui.
¹⁷ Et le déluge fut quarante jours sur la terre, et les eaux grossirent et soulevèrent l'arche, et elle s'éleva de dessus la terre.
¹⁸ Et les eaux crûrent et devinrent extrêmement grosses sur la terre, et l'arche flotta sur les eaux.
¹⁹ Et les eaux ayant crû extraordinairement sur la terre, toutes les hautes montagnes qui sont sous tous les cieux furent couvertes.
²⁰ Les eaux s'élevèrent de quinze coudées au-dessus, et les montagnes furent couvertes.
²¹ Et toute créature qui se meut sur la terre périt, oiseaux, bétail, animaux sauvages et toutes les bêtes qui rampent sur la terre, ainsi que tous les hommes.
²² De tout ce qui existe sur la terre sèche, tout ce qui a souffle de vie dans les narines mourut.
²³ Tout être qui se trouve sur la face du sol disparut, de l'homme jusqu'au bétail, jusqu'aux reptiles et jusqu'aux oiseaux des cieux. Ils furent effacés de la terre, et il ne fut laissé de reste que Noé et ce qui était avec lui dans l'arche.
²⁴ Et les eaux furent hautes sur la terre cent cinquante jours.

Genèse 8

¹ Et Dieu se souvint de Noé et de tous les animaux et de tout le bétail qui était avec lui dans l'arche, et Dieu fit passer un vent sur la terre, et les eaux baissèrent,
² et les fontaines de l'abîme et les écluses des cieux se fermèrent, et la pluie cessa de tomber des cieux.
³ Et les eaux se retirèrent de dessus la terre peu à peu ; et les eaux diminuèrent au bout de cent cinquante jours,
⁴ et l'arche s'arrêta au septième mois, le dix-septième jour du mois, sur les montagnes d'Ararat.
⁵ Et les eaux allèrent en diminuant jusqu'au dixième mois, le premier jour du mois, apparurent les sommets des montagnes.
⁶ Et il arriva qu'au bout de quarante jours, Noé ouvrit la fenêtre de l'arche, qu'il avait faite,
⁷ et lâcha le corbeau ; et le corbeau sortit, partant et revenant jusqu'à ce que les eaux fussent séchées au-dessus de la terre.
⁸ Et il lâcha la colombe d'auprès de lui pour voir si les eaux avaient diminué de dessus la face de la terre.
⁹ Et la colombe, n'ayant pas trouvé où poser la plante de son pied, revint vers lui dans l'arche, parce qu'il y avait des eaux sur la face de toute la terre. Et il étendit la main, la prit et la fit rentrer auprès de lui dans l'arche.
¹⁰ Et il attendit encore sept autres jours et il lâcha de nouveau la colombe hors de l'arche ;
¹¹ et la colombe revint vers lui sur le soir, et voici elle avait dans son bec une feuille d'olivier toute fraîche ; et Noé reconnut que les eaux avaient diminué sur la terre.
¹² Et il attendit encore sept autres jours et lâcha la colombe ; et elle ne revint plus vers lui.
¹³ Et l'an six cent un, au premier mois, le premier du mois, les eaux avaient séché sur la terre. Noé ôta la couverture de l'arche et aperçut que la face du sol avait séché.
¹⁴ Et au second mois, le vingt-septième jour du mois, la terre fut sèche.
¹⁵ Et Dieu parla à Noé en ces mots :
¹⁶ Sors de l'arche, toi, ta femme, tes fils et les femmes de tes fils avec toi.
¹⁷ Tous les animaux qui sont avec toi, de toute espèce, oiseaux, quadrupèdes et tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre, fais-les sortir avec toi, et qu'ils abondent sur la terre ; qu'ils fructifient et deviennent nombreux sur la terre.
¹⁸ Et Noé sortit, et ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils avec lui.
¹⁹ Tous les animaux, tous les reptiles et tous les oiseaux, tous les êtres qui se meuvent sur la terre selon leurs familles, sortirent de l'arche.
²⁰ Et Noé construisit un autel à l'Eternel et prit de toutes les bêtes pures et de tous les oiseaux purs, et offrit des holocaustes sur l'autel.
²¹ Et l'Eternel sentit une odeur d'apaisement, et l'Eternel dit en son coeur : Je ne maudirai plus désormais la terre à cause de l'homme parce que les pensées du coeur de l'homme sont mauvaises dès l'enfance, et désormais je ne frapperai plus tout être vivant, comme je l'ai fait.
²² Désormais, tant que la terre durera, les semailles, les moissons, le froid, le chaud, l'été, l'hiver, le jour et la nuit ne cesseront point.

⁹ These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
¹⁰ And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
¹¹ The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
¹² And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
¹³ And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
¹⁴ Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
¹⁵ And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
¹⁶ A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
¹⁷ And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
¹⁸ But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
¹⁹ And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
²⁰ Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
²¹ And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
²² Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

¹ And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
² Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
³ Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
⁴ For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
⁵ And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.
⁶ And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
⁷ And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
⁸ Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
⁹ There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
¹⁰ And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
¹² And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
¹³ In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
¹⁴ They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.
¹⁵ And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

²² All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
²³ And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

¹ And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;
² The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;
³ And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.
⁴ And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
⁵ And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
⁶ And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:
⁷ And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.
⁸ Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;
⁹ But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
¹⁰ And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;
¹¹ And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.
¹² And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.
¹³ And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
¹⁴ And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.
¹⁵ And God spake unto Noah, saying,
¹⁶ Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.
¹⁷ Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
¹⁸ And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:
¹⁹ Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.
²⁰ And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
²¹ And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
²² While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
