¹ Au maître chantre. Avec instruments à cordes. Psaume d'Asaph. Cantique.
² Dieu est connu en Juda ; Son nom est grand en Israël.
³ Son tabernacle est en Salem Et sa demeure en Sion.
⁴ Là il a brisé les foudres de l'arc, Le bouclier, l'épée et les armes de guerre. (Jeu d'instruments.)
⁵ Tu es brillant et magnifique Plus que les montagnes des ravisseurs !
⁶ Ils ont été dépouillés, ces hommes au coeur fort, Ils ont dormi leur sommeil, Et ils n'ont plus trouvé leurs mains, Tous ces vaillants hommes !
⁷ A ta menace, Dieu de Jacob, Ils s'assoupirent profondément, chars et chevaux !
⁸ Tu es redoutable, toi ! Et qui peut subsister devant toi, Dès que s'élève ta colère ?
⁹ Des cieux tu fis entendre ton jugement ; La terre fut effrayée et se tut,
¹⁰ Quand tu te levas, ô Dieu, pour juger, Pour sauver tous les malheureux de la terre. (Jeu d'instruments.)
¹¹ Oui, la fureur de l'homme tourne à ta louange, Et tu te pares des débris de son courroux.
¹² Faites des voeux à l'Eternel, votre Dieu, et accomplissez-les ! Que tous les [peuples] voisins apportent des présents Au redoutable !
¹³ Il abat l'orgueil des princes, Il est redoutable aux rois de la terre !

¹ In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
² In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
³ There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
⁴ Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
⁵ The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
⁶ At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
⁷ Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
⁸ Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
⁹ When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
¹¹ Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
¹² He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
