Ps 81 (King James)

¹ Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
² Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
³ Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
⁴ For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.
⁵ This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.
⁶ I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.
⁷ Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
⁸ Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
⁹ There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
¹⁰ I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
¹¹ But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
¹² So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
¹³ Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
¹⁴ I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
¹⁵ The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.
¹⁶ He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

Invitation à écouter le Seigneur

¹ Au chef de chœur, sur la guitthith. D'Asaph.
² Chantez avec allégresse vers Dieu, notre force, poussez des cris de joie vers le Dieu de Jacob!
³ Entonnez un chant, faites résonner le tambourin, la harpe mélodieuse et le luth!
⁴ Sonnez de la trompette au début du mois, à la pleine lune, pour le jour de notre fête!
⁵ En effet, c'est une prescription pour Israël, une règle pour le Dieu de Jacob.
⁶ Il en a fait une instruction pour Joseph, quand il s'est attaqué à l'Egypte. J'entends un langage qui m'est inconnu:
⁷ «J'ai déchargé son épaule du fardeau, et ses mains ont lâché la corbeille.»
⁸ Tu as crié dans la détresse, et je t'ai délivré; je t'ai répondu au cœur de l'orage, je t'ai mis à l'épreuve près des eaux de Meriba.     – Pause.
⁹ Ecoute, mon peuple, et je t'avertirai! Israël, si seulement tu m'écoutais!
¹⁰ Qu'il n'y ait au milieu de toi aucun autre dieu! Ne te prosterne pas devant des dieux étrangers!
¹¹ *Je suis l'Eternel, ton Dieu, qui t'ai fait sortir d'Egypte. Ouvre ta bouche, et je la remplirai!
¹² Mais mon peuple ne m'a pas écouté, Israël n'a pas voulu de moi.
¹³ Alors je les ai livrés aux penchants de leur cœur, et ils ont suivi leurs propres projets.
¹⁴ Si seulement mon peuple m'écoutait, si seulement Israël marchait dans mes voies!
¹⁵ En un instant j'humilierais leurs ennemis, je tournerais ma main contre leurs adversaires.
¹⁶ Ceux qui détestent l'Eternel le flatteraient, et le bonheur d'Israël durerait toujours.
¹⁷ Je le nourrirais du meilleur blé, et je le rassasierais de miel sauvage.

² Usquequo judicatis iniquitatem, et facies peccatorum sumitis ?
³ Judicate egeno et pupillo ; humilem et pauperem justificate.
