KJV ¹ Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war.

S21 ¹ Voici les hommes qui se joignirent à David à Tsiklag, lorsqu'il était encore contraint de vivre loin de Saül, fils de Kis. Ils faisaient partie des vaillants hommes qui lui portèrent secours pendant la guerre.

KJV ² They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul's brethren of Benjamin.

S21 ² C'étaient des archers et ils étaient capables d'utiliser aussi bien la main gauche que la droite pour lancer des pierres et tirer des flèches avec leur arc. Ils faisaient partie des frères de Saül, étant issus de Benjamin.

S21 ⁹ Des hommes vaillants se séparèrent des autres Gadites pour se joindre à David dans la forteresse du désert. C'étaient des soldats exercés à la guerre, capables de manier le bouclier et la lance, aussi terribles que des lions et aussi rapides que des gazelles sur les montagnes.

S21 ¹⁶ Ce furent eux qui traversèrent le Jourdain pendant le premier mois, alors qu'il débordait sur toutes ses rives, et qui mirent en fuite tous les habitants des vallées, à l'est comme à l'ouest.

KJV ¹⁷ And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

KJV ¹⁸ Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

S21 ¹⁸ David sortit à leur rencontre et leur adressa la parole en disant: «Si vous venez vers moi avec des intentions de paix, pour m'aider, unissons-nous! Mais si c'est pour me tromper au profit de mes ennemis, alors que je ne commets aucune violence, que le Dieu de nos ancêtres en soit témoin et qu'il fasse justice!»

KJV ¹⁹ And there fell some of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.

S21 ¹⁹ Amasaï, le chef des officiers, fut revêtu de l'Esprit et dit:
«Nous sommes à ton service, David,
nous sommes avec toi, fils d'Isaï!
Paix, paix pour toi
et paix pour celui qui te porte secours,
car ton Dieu t'a secouru!»
David les accueillit alors et les plaça à la tête de la troupe.

KJV ²⁰ As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zilthai, captains of the thousands that were of Manasseh.

S21 ²⁰ Des hommes de Manassé se rallièrent à David lorsqu'il alla avec les Philistins faire la guerre à Saül. Toutefois, ils ne purent pas aider les Philistins car, après avoir tenu conseil, leurs princes renvoyèrent David en disant: «Il se ralliera à son maître Saül en lui apportant nos têtes.»

KJV ²¹ And they helped David against the band of the rovers: for they were all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.

S21 ²¹ Voici les Manassites qui se rallièrent à David quand il retourna à Tsiklag: Adnach, Jozabad, Jediaël, Micaël, Jozabad, Elihu et Tsilthaï. C'étaient des chefs de milliers de Manassé.

KJV ²² For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.

S21 ²² Ils prêtèrent secours à David à la tête de la troupe. En effet, ils étaient tous de vaillants hommes et ils furent chefs dans son armée.

KJV ²³ And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.

S21 ²³ Chaque jour de nouveaux renforts se joignaient à David, jusqu'à former une grande armée, aussi grande que l'armée de Dieu.

KJV ²⁴ The children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war.

S21 ²⁴ Voici le nombre d'hommes équipés pour la guerre qui se joignirent à David à Hébron afin de lui transférer la royauté de Saül, conformément à l'ordre de l'Eternel.

KJV ³⁷ And on the other side of Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.

KJV ³⁸ All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

S21 ³⁸ De l'autre côté du Jourdain, des tribus de Ruben et de Gad ainsi que de la demi-tribu de Manassé: 120'000 hommes munis de toutes les armes de guerre.

KJV ³⁹ And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.

S21 ³⁹ Tous ces hommes de guerre, prêts à se ranger en ordre de bataille, arrivèrent à Hébron avec un cœur sans réserve pour proclamer David roi sur tout Israël. Tout le reste d'Israël était aussi unanime pour faire régner David.

KJV ⁴⁰ Moreover they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.

S21 ⁴⁰ Ils restèrent là trois jours avec David, mangeant et buvant, car leurs frères leur avaient préparé des vivres.

S21 ⁴¹ Que ce soit du voisinage ou jusqu'à Issacar, Zabulon et Nephthali, on apportait de la nourriture sur des ânes, sur des chameaux, sur des mulets et sur des bœufs: des plats à base de farine, des gâteaux aux figues sèches et aux raisins secs, du vin, de l'huile, des bœufs et des brebis en abondance, car Israël était dans la joie.
