KJV 1 So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

VULC 1 Igitur David, senex et plenus dierum, regem constituit Salomonem filium suum super Israël.

KJV 2 And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

VULC 2 Et congregavit omnes principes Israël, et sacerdotes atque Levitas.

KJV 3 Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

VULC 3 Numeratique sunt Levitæ a triginta annis et supra : et inventa sunt triginta octo millia virorum.

KJV 4 Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:

VULC 4 Ex his electi sunt, et distributi in ministerium domus Domini, viginti quatuor millia : præpositorum autem et judicum, sex millia.

KJV 5 Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

VULC 5 Porro quatuor millia janitores, et totidem psaltæ, canentes Domino in organis quæ fecerat ad canendum.

KJV 6 And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

VULC 6 Et distribuit eos David per vices filiorum Levi, Gerson videlicet, et Caath, et Merari.

KJV 7 Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.

VULC 7 Filii Gerson : Leedan, et Semei.

KJV 8 The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

VULC 8 Filii Leedan : princeps Jahiel, et Zethan, et Joël, tres.

KJV 9 The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.

VULC 9 Filii Semei : Salomith, et Hosiel, et Aran, tres : isti principes familiarum Leedan.

KJV 10 And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

VULC 10 Porro filii Semei : Leheth, et Ziza, et Jaus, et Baria : isti filii Semei, quatuor.

KJV 11 And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father's house.

VULC 11 Erat autem Leheth prior, Ziza secundus : porro Jaus et Baria non habuerunt plurimos filios, et idcirco in una familia, unaque domo computati sunt.

KJV 12 The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

VULC 12 Filii Caath : Amram, et Isaar, Hebron, et Oziel, quatuor.

KJV 13 The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.

VULC 13 Filii Amram : Aaron et Moyses. Separatusque est Aaron ut ministraret in Sancto sanctorum, ipse et filii ejus in sempiternum, et adoleret incensum Domino secundum ritum suum, ac benediceret nomini ejus in perpetuum.

KJV 14 Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.

VULC 14 Moysi quoque hominis Dei filii annumerati sunt in tribu Levi.

KJV 15 The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.

VULC 15 Filii Moysi : Gersom et Eliezer.

KJV 16 Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.

VULC 16 Filii Gersom : Subuel primus.

KJV 17 And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

VULC 17 Fuerunt autem filii Eliezer : Rohobia primus : et non erant Eliezer filii alii. Porro filii Rohobia multiplicati sunt nimis.

KJV 18 Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.

VULC 18 Filii Isaar : Salomith primus.

KJV 19 Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

VULC 19 Filii Hebron : Jeriau primus, Amarias secundus, Jahaziel tertius, Jecmaam quartus.

KJV 20 Of the sons of Uzziel; Micah the first and Jesiah the second.

VULC 20 Filii Oziel : Micha primus, Jesia secundus.

KJV 21 The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.

VULC 21 Filii Merari : Moholi, et Musi. Filii Moholi : Eleazar et Cis.

KJV 22 And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.

VULC 22 Mortuus est autem Eleazar, et non habuit filios, sed filias : acceperuntque eas filii Cis fratres earum.

KJV 23 The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

VULC 23 Filii Musi : Moholi, et Eder, et Jerimoth, tres.

KJV 24 These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.

VULC 24 Hi filii Levi in cognationibus et familiis suis, principes per vices, et numerum capitum singulorum qui faciebant opera ministerii domus Domini, a viginti annis et supra.

KJV 25 For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:

VULC 25 Dixit enim David : Requiem dedit Dominus Deus Israël populo suo, et habitationem Jerusalem usque in æternum.

KJV 26 And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.

VULC 26 Nec erit officii Levitarum ut ultra portent tabernaculum et omnia vasa ejus ad ministrandum.

KJV 27 For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:

VULC 27 Juxta præcepta quoque David novissima, supputabitur numerus filiorum Levi a viginti annis et supra.

KJV 28 Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

VULC 28 Et erunt sub manu filiorum Aaron in cultum domus Domini, in vestibulis, et in exedris, et in loco purificationis, et in sanctuario, et in universis operibus ministerii templi Domini.

KJV 29 Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;

VULC 29 Sacerdotes autem, super panes propositionis, et ad similæ sacrificium, et ad lagana azyma, et sartaginem, et ad torrendum, et super omne pondus atque mensuram.

KJV 30 And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even:

VULC 30 Levitæ vero ut stent mane ad confitendum et canendum Domino : similiterque ad vesperam,

KJV 31 And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:

VULC 31 tam in oblatione holocaustorum Domini, quam in sabbatis et calendis et solemnitatibus reliquis juxta numerum et cæremonias uniuscujusque rei, jugiter coram Domino.

KJV 32 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.

VULC 32 Et custodiant observationes tabernaculi fœderis, et ritum sanctuarii, et observationem filiorum Aaron fratrum suorum, ut ministrent in domo Domini.
