¹ Les enfants d'Israël selon leur nombre, chefs de familles, chefs de milliers et de centaines, officiers au service du roi pour tout ce qui concernait les divisions, celles qui arrivaient et celles qui partaient, mois par mois, pendant tous les mois de l'année, ‒ chaque division étant de vingt-quatre mille hommes, ‒ étaient :
² A la tête de la première division, pour le premier mois, était Jesboam, fils de Zabdiel, et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
³ Il était d'entre les fils de Pharès, et il commandait tous les chefs des troupes du premier mois.
⁴ ‒ A la tête de la division du deuxième mois était Dudia, l'Ahohite ; Macelloth, le prince, était un chef de sa division ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
⁵ ‒ Le chef de la troisième division, pour le troisième mois, était Banaïas, fils du prêtre Joïada, chef ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
⁶ Ce Banaïas était le héros des Trente, à la fête des Trente ; Amizabad, son fils, était un chef de sa division.
⁷ ‒ Le quatrième, pour le quatrième mois, était Asaël, frère de Joab, et, après lui, Zabadias, son fils ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
⁸ ‒ Le cinquième, pour le cinquième mois, était le chef Samaoth, L'Izrahite ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
⁹ ‒ Le sixième, pour le sixième mois, était Hira, fils d'Accès, de Thécua ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
¹⁰ ‒ Le septième, pour le septième mois, était Hellès, le Phallonite, des fils d'Ephraïm ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
¹¹ ‒ Le huitième, pour le huitième mois, était Sobochaï, le Husathite, de la famille des Zarahites ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
¹² ‒ Le neuvième, pour le neuvième mois, était Abiézer, d'Anathoth, des fils de Benjamin, et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
¹³ ‒ Le dixième, pour le dixième mois, était Maraï, de Nétopha, de la famille des Zaharites ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
¹⁴ ‒ Le onzième, pour le onzième mois, était Banaïas, de Pharathom des fils d'Ephraïm ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
¹⁵ ‒ Le douzième, pour le douzième mois, était Holdaï, de Nétopha, de la famille d'Othoniel ; et il y avait dans sa division vingt-quatre mille hommes.
¹⁶ Et il y avait à la tête des tribus d'Israël : des Rubénites : Éliézer, fils de Zéchri ; des Siméonites : Saphatias, fils de Maacha ;
¹⁷ des Lévites : Hasabias, fils de Caramel, de la famille d'Aaron : Sadoc ;
¹⁸ de Juda : Eliu, frère de David, d'Issachar, Amri, fils de Michaël,
¹⁹ de Zabulon : Jesmaïas, fils d'Abdias ; de Nephtali : Jérimoth, fils d'Ozriel ;
²⁰ des fils d'Ephraïm : Osée, fils d'Ozaziu ; de la demi-tribu de Manassé : Joël, fils de Phadaïas ;
²¹ de la demi-tribu de Manassé, en Galaad : Jaddo, fils de Zacharias ; de Benjamin : Jasiel, fils d'Abner ;
²² de Dan : Ezrihel, fils de Jéroham. Ce sont les princes des tribus d'Israël.
²³ David ne fit point le dénombrement de ceux qui étaient âgés de vingt ans et au-dessous, car Yahweh avait dit qu'il multiplierait Israël comme les étoiles du ciel.
²⁴ Joab, fils de Sarvia, avait commencé le dénombrement, mais il ne l'acheva pas, la colère de Yahweh étant venue à cause de cela sur Israël, et le résultat n'en fut pas porté sur les rôles des chroniques du roi David.
²⁵ Asmoth, fils d'Adiel, était préposé sur les trésors du roi ; Jonathan, fils d'Ozias, sur les trésors dans les champs, dans les villes, dans les villages et dans les tours ;
²⁶ Ezri, fils de Chélub, sur les ouvriers des champs qui cultivaient la terre ;
²⁷ Séméï, de Rama, sur les vignes ; Zabdias, de Sapham, sur les provisions de vin dans les vignes ;
²⁸ Balanan, de Géder, sur les oliviers et les sycomores dans la Séphéla ;
²⁹ Joas, sur les provisions d'huile ; Séthraï, de Saron, sur les boeufs qui paissaient en Saron ; Saphat, fils d'Adli, sur les boeufs dans les vallées ;
³⁰ Ubil, l'Ismaélite, sur les chameaux ; Jadias, de Méronath, sur les ânesses ;
³¹ Jaziz, l'Agarénien, sur les brebis. Tous ceux-là étaient intendants des biens du roi David.
³² Jonathan, oncle de David, était conseiller ; c'était un homme de sens et de savoir. Jahiel, fils de Hachamoni, était avec les fils du roi.
³³ Achitophel était conseiller du roi, et Chusaï, l'Archéen, était ami du roi ;
³⁴ après Achitophel, Joïada, fils de Banaïas, et Abiathar. Joab était chef de l'armée du roi.

¹ Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.
² Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
³ Of the children of Perez was the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.
⁴ And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course was Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise were twenty and four thousand.
⁵ The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
⁶ This is that Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course was Ammizabad his son.
⁷ The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
⁸ The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
⁹ The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
¹⁰ The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
¹¹ The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
¹² The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
¹³ The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
¹⁴ The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
¹⁵ The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
¹⁶ Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah:
¹⁷ Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of the Aaronites, Zadok:
¹⁸ Of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:
¹⁹ Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel:
²⁰ Of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah:
²¹ Of the half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner:
²² Of Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These were the princes of the tribes of Israel.
²³ But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.
²⁴ Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.
²⁵ And over the king's treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah:
²⁶ And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:
²⁷ And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite:
²⁸ And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was Baalhanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Joash:
²⁹ And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:
³⁰ Over the camels also was Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite:
³¹ And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's.
³² Also Jonathan David's uncle was a counsellor, a wise man, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king's sons:
³³ And Ahithophel was the king's counsellor: and Hushai the Archite was the king's companion:
³⁴ And after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the general of the king's army was Joab.

¹ Filii autem Israël secundum numerum suum, principes familiarum, tribuni, et centuriones, et præfecti, qui ministrabant regi juxta turmas suas, ingredientes et egredientes per singulos menses in anno, viginti quatuor millibus singuli præerant.
² Primæ turmæ in primo mense Jesboam præerat filius Zabdiel, et sub eo viginti quatuor millia ;
³ de filiis Phares, princeps cunctorum principum in exercitu mense primo.
⁴ Secundi mensis habebat turmam Dudia Ahohites, et post se alter nomine Macelloth, qui regebat partem exercitus viginti quatuor millium.

²⁵ Super thesauros autem regis fuit Azmoth filius Adiel : his autem thesauris, qui erant in urbibus, et in vicis, et in turribus, præsidebat Jonathan filius Oziæ.
²⁶ Operi autem rustico, et agricolis qui exercebant terram, præerat Ezri filius Chelub :
