KJV ¹ Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

S21 ¹ Ne suis-je pas libre? Ne suis-je pas apôtre? N'ai-je pas vu Jésus[-Christ] notre Seigneur? N'êtes-vous pas mon œuvre dans le Seigneur?

KJV ² If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

S21 ² Si pour d'autres je ne suis pas apôtre, je le suis au moins pour vous, car vous êtes l'empreinte qui authentifie mon service en tant qu'apôtre dans le Seigneur.

KJV ³ Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,

S21 ³ C'est là ma défense contre ceux qui m'accusent.

KJV ⁴ Have we not power to eat and to drink?

S21 ⁴ N'avons-nous pas le droit de manger et de boire?

KJV ⁵ Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

S21 ⁵ N'avons-nous pas le droit d'emmener avec nous une sœur qui soit notre femme, comme le font les autres apôtres, les frères du Seigneur et Céphas?

KJV ⁶ Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

S21 ⁶ Ou bien sommes-nous les seuls, Barnabas et moi, à ne pas avoir le droit de ne pas travailler?

KJV ⁷ Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?

S21 ⁷ Qui donc sert dans une armée à ses propres frais? Qui plante une vigne et n'en mange pas le fruit? Qui prend soin d'un troupeau et ne se nourrit pas du lait du troupeau?

KJV ⁸ Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

S21 ⁸ Est-ce purement d'un point de vue humain que je dis cela? La loi ne le dit-elle pas aussi?

KJV ⁹ For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

S21 ⁹ En effet, il est écrit dans la loi de Moïse: Tu ne mettras pas de muselière au bœuf quand il foule le grain. Dieu s'inquiète-t-il des bœufs

KJV ¹⁰ Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

S21 ¹⁰ ou bien est-ce principalement à cause de nous qu'il parle? Oui, c'est à cause de nous que cela a été écrit, car celui qui laboure doit labourer avec espérance, et celui qui bat le blé doit le faire avec l'espoir de recevoir sa part.

KJV ¹¹ If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

S21 ¹¹ Si nous avons semé pour vous les biens spirituels, est-ce trop si nous récoltons une part de vos biens matériels?

KJV ¹² If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

S21 ¹² Si d'autres exercent ce droit sur vous, n'est-ce pas plutôt à nous d'en jouir? Mais nous n'avons pas recouru à ce droit; au contraire, nous supportons tout afin de ne pas créer d'obstacle à l'Evangile de Christ.

KJV ¹³ Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

S21 ¹³ Ne savez-vous pas que ceux qui assurent le service du culte sont nourris par le temple, que ceux qui servent à l'autel reçoivent une part de ce qui est offert sur l'autel?

KJV ¹⁴ Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

S21 ¹⁴ De même aussi, le Seigneur a prescrit à ceux qui annoncent l'Evangile de vivre de l'Evangile.

KJV ¹⁵ But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

S21 ¹⁵ Quant à moi, je n'ai eu recours à aucun de ces droits, et je n'écris pas cela pour qu'ils me soient accordés, car j'aimerais mieux mourir plutôt que de me laisser enlever ce sujet de fierté.

KJV ¹⁶ For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

S21 ¹⁶ Si j'annonce l'Evangile, il n'y a pour moi aucun sujet de fierté, car c'est une nécessité qui m'est imposée, et malheur à moi si je n'annonce pas l'Evangile!

KJV ¹⁷ For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

S21 ¹⁷ Si je le fais de bon cœur, j'en ai la récompense; mais si je le fais malgré moi, c'est une charge qui m'est confiée.

KJV ¹⁸ What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

S21 ¹⁸ Quelle est donc ma récompense? C'est d'offrir gratuitement l'Evangile [de Christ] que j'annonce, sans faire usage de mon droit de prédicateur de l'Evangile.

KJV ¹⁹ For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

S21 ¹⁹ En effet, bien que libre vis-à-vis de tous, je me suis fait l'esclave de tous afin de gagner le plus grand nombre.

KJV ²⁰ And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

S21 ²⁰ Avec les Juifs, j'ai été comme un Juif afin de gagner les Juifs; avec ceux qui sont sous la loi de Moïse, comme si j'étais sous la loi [– bien que n'étant pas moi-même sous la loi –] afin de gagner ceux qui sont sous la loi;

KJV ²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

S21 ²¹ avec ceux qui sont sans la loi, comme si j'étais sans la loi – bien que je ne sois pas sans la loi de Dieu, puisque je me conforme à la loi de Christ – afin de gagner ceux qui sont sans la loi.

KJV ²² To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

S21 ²² J'ai été [comme] faible avec les faibles afin de gagner les faibles. Je me suis fait tout à tous afin d'en sauver de toute manière quelques-uns,

KJV ²³ And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

S21 ²³ et je fais cela à cause de l'Evangile afin d'avoir part à ses bénédictions.

KJV ²⁴ Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

S21 ²⁴ Ne savez-vous pas que les concurrents dans le stade courent tous, mais qu'un seul remporte le prix? Courez de manière à le remporter.

KJV ²⁵ And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

S21 ²⁵ Tous les athlètes s'imposent toutes sortes de privations, et ils le font pour obtenir une couronne qui va se détruire; mais nous, c'est pour une couronne indestructible.

KJV ²⁶ I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

S21 ²⁶ Moi donc, je cours, mais pas comme à l'aventure; je boxe, mais non pour battre l'air.

KJV ²⁷ But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

S21 ²⁷ Au contraire, je traite durement mon corps et je le discipline, de peur d'être moi-même disqualifié après avoir prêché aux autres.
