DRB ¹ Et voici, un homme de Dieu vint de Juda, par la parole de l'Éternel, à Béthel, et Jéroboam se tenait près de l'autel pour faire fumer l'encens.

DRB ² Et il cria contre l'autel, par la parole de l'Éternel, et dit : Autel, autel ! ainsi dit l'Éternel : Voici, un fils naîtra à la maison de David ; son nom sera Josias, et il offrira* sur toi les sacrificateurs des hauts lieux qui font fumer de l'encens sur toi, et on brûlera sur toi des ossements d'hommes.

KJV ² And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.

DRB ³ Et il donna en ce même jour un signe*, disant : C'est ici le signe* que l'Éternel a parlé : Voici, l'autel se fendra, et la cendre qui est dessus sera répandue.

KJV ³ And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

DRB ⁴ Et il arriva, comme le roi entendait la parole de l'homme de Dieu qu'il cria contre l'autel de Béthel, que Jéroboam étendit sa main de dessus l'autel, disant : Saisissez-le ! Et sa main, qu'il avait étendue contre lui, sécha, et il ne put la ramener à lui.

KJV ⁴ And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.

OST ⁴ Et quand le roi entendit la parole que l'homme de Dieu prononçait à voix haute contre l'autel de Béthel, Jéroboam étendit sa main de dessus l'autel, en disant: Saisissez-le! Et la main qu'il étendait contre lui devint sèche, et il ne put la ramener à lui.

VULC ⁴ Cumque audisset rex sermonem hominis Dei quem inclamaverat contra altare in Bethel, extendit manum suam de altari, dicens : Apprehendite eum. Et exaruit manus ejus quam extenderat contra eum, nec valuit retrahere eam ad se.

WLC ⁴ וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת־ דְּבַ֣ר אִישׁ־ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר קָרָ֤א עַל־ הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ בְּבֵֽית־ אֵ֔ל וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח יָרָבְעָ֧ם אֶת־ יָד֛וֹ מֵעַ֥ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ לֵאמֹ֣ר ׀ תִּפְשֻׂ֑הוּ וַתִּיבַ֤שׁ יָדוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁלַ֣ח עָלָ֔יו וְלֹ֥א יָכֹ֖ל לַהֲשִׁיבָ֥הּ אֵלָֽיו׃

DRB ⁵ Et l'autel se fendit et la cendre fut répandue de dessus l'autel, selon le signe* que l'homme de Dieu avait donné par la parole de l'Éternel.

KJV ⁵ The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

OST ⁵ L'autel aussi se fendit, et la cendre qui était dessus fut répandue, conformément au signe que l'homme de Dieu avait donné, par la parole de l'Éternel.

DRB ⁶ Et le roi répondit et dit à l'homme de Dieu : Implore, je te prie, l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et prie pour moi, afin que ma main me soit rendue. Et l'homme de Dieu implora l'Éternel, et la main du roi lui fut rendue et fut comme auparavant.

KJV ⁶ And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

OST ⁶ Alors le roi prit la parole et dit à l'homme de Dieu: Implore, je te prie, l'Éternel ton Dieu, et prie pour moi, pour que ma main puisse revenir à moi. Et l'homme de Dieu implora l'Éternel, et la main du roi put revenir à lui; et elle fut comme auparavant.

DRB ⁷ Et le roi dit à l'homme de Dieu : Viens avec moi à la maison, et rafraîchis-toi, et je te donnerai un présent.

KJV ⁷ And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

DRB ⁸ Et l'homme de Dieu dit au roi : Quand tu me donnerais la moitié de ta maison, je n'irais pas avec toi ; et je ne mangerai pas de pain et je ne boirai pas d'eau dans ce lieu.

KJV ⁹ For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.

DRB ¹¹ Et un certain vieux prophète habitait Béthel ; et ses fils vinrent et lui racontèrent toute l'œuvre que l'homme de Dieu avait faite ce jour-là à Béthel ; les paroles qu'il avait dites au roi, ils les rapportèrent aussi à leur père.

DRB ²² et que tu es retourné, et que tu as mangé du pain et que tu as bu de l'eau dans le lieu dont il t'avait dit : Tu n'y mangeras pas de pain et tu n'y boiras pas d'eau, ton cadavre n'entrera pas dans le sépulcre de tes pères.

KJV ²² But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.

KJV ²⁴ And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.

KJV ²⁶ And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.

KJV ²⁹ And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.

DRB ³² Car la parole qu'il a criée, par la parole de l'Éternel, contre l'autel qui est à Béthel et contre toutes les maisons des hauts lieux qui sont dans les villes de Samarie, arrivera certainement.

KJV ³² For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.

OST ³² Car elle s'accomplira certainement la parole qu'il a prononcée à voix haute, de la part de l'Éternel, contre l'autel qui est à Béthel et contre toutes les maisons des hauts lieux qui sont dans les villes de Samarie.

DRB ³³ Après cela, Jéroboam ne revint pas de sa mauvaise voie ; et il établit encore, d'entre toutes les classes* du peuple, des sacrificateurs des hauts lieux. Quiconque le désirait, il le consacrait**, et il devenait sacrificateur des hauts lieux.

KJV ³³ After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

DRB ³⁴ Et par cela il y eut du péché sur la maison de Jéroboam, pour l'exterminer et pour la détruire de dessus la face de la terre.

KJV ³⁴ And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

OST ³⁴ Et cela augmenta tellement le péché de la maison de Jéroboam, qu'elle fut effacée et exterminée de dessus la terre.
