KJV ¹ Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

KJV ² Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

VULC ² Pro eo quod exaltavi te de pulvere, et posui te ducem super populum meum Israël, tu autem ambulasti in via Jeroboam, et peccare fecisti populum meum Israël, ut me irritares in peccatis eorum :

WLC ² יַ֗עַן אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֲרִימֹתִ֙יךָ֙ מִן־ הֶ֣עָפָ֔ר וָאֶתֶּנְךָ֣ נָגִ֔יד עַ֖ל עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַתֵּ֣לֶךְ ׀ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ יָרָבְעָ֗ם וַֽתַּחֲטִא֙ אֶת־ עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לְהַכְעִיסֵ֖נִי בְּחַטֹּאתָֽם׃

KJV ³ Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

VULC ³ ecce ego demetam posteriora Baasa, et posteriora domus ejus, et faciam domum tuam sicut domum Jeroboam filii Nabat.

WLC ³ הִנְנִ֥י מַבְעִ֛יר אַחֲרֵ֥י בַעְשָׁ֖א וְאַחֲרֵ֣י בֵית֑וֹ וְנָֽתַתִּי֙ אֶת־ בֵּ֣יתְךָ֔ כְּבֵ֖ית יָרָבְעָ֥ם בֶּן־ נְבָֽט׃

KJV ⁴ Him that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the fields shall the fowls of the air eat.

VULC ⁴ Qui mortuus fuerit de Baasa in civitate, comedent eum canes : et qui mortuus fuerit ex eo in regione, comedent eum volucres cæli.

WLC ⁴ הַמֵּ֤ת לְבַעְשָׁא֙ בָּעִ֔יר יֹֽאכְל֖וּ הַכְּלָבִ֑ים וְהַמֵּ֥ת לוֹ֙ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה יֹאכְל֖וּ ע֥וֹף הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁵ Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

VULC ⁵ Reliqua autem sermonum Baasa, et quæcumque fecit, et prælia ejus, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Israël ?

WLC ⁵ וְיֶ֨תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י בַעְשָׁ֛א וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה וּגְבֽוּרָת֑וֹ הֲלֹא־ הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־ סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ⁶ So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his stead.

VULC ⁶ Dormivit ergo Baasa cum patribus suis, sepultusque est in Thersa : et regnavit Ela filius ejus pro eo.

WLC ⁶ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב בַּעְשָׁא֙ עִם־ אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּתִרְצָ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֵלָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

KJV ⁷ And also by the hand of the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of the LORD against Baasha, and against his house, even for all the evil that he did in the sight of the LORD, in provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam; and because he killed him.

KJV ⁸ In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, two years.

VULC ⁸ Anno vigesimo sexto Asa regis Juda, regnavit Ela filius Baasa super Israël in Thersa, duobus annis.

WLC ⁸ בִּשְׁנַ֨ת עֶשְׂרִ֤ים וָשֵׁשׁ֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לְאָסָ֖א מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ אֵלָ֨ה בֶן־ בַּעְשָׁ֧א עַל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּתִרְצָ֖ה שְׁנָתָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁹ And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah.

VULC ⁹ Et rebellavit contra eum servus suus Zambri, dux mediæ partis equitum : erat autem Ela in Thersa bibens, et temulentus in domo Arsa præfecti Thersa.

WLC ⁹ וַיִּקְשֹׁ֤ר עָלָיו֙ עַבְדּ֣וֹ זִמְרִ֔י שַׂ֖ר מַחֲצִ֣ית הָרָ֑כֶב וְה֤וּא בְתִרְצָה֙ שֹׁתֶ֣ה שִׁכּ֔וֹר בֵּ֣ית אַרְצָ֔א אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־ הַבַּ֖יִת בְּתִרְצָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁰ And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.

VULC ¹⁰ Irruens ergo Zambri, percussit et occidit eum, anno vigesimo septimo Asa regis Juda, et regnavit pro eo.

KJV ¹¹ And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

VULC ¹¹ Cumque regnasset, et sedisset super solium ejus, percussit omnem domum Baasa, et non dereliquit ex ea mingentem ad parietem : et propinquos et amicos ejus.

KJV ¹² Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet.

VULC ¹² Delevitque Zambri omnem domum Baasa, juxta verbum Domini quod locutus fuerat ad Baasa in manu Jehu prophetæ,

KJV ¹³ For all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, by which they sinned, and by which they made Israel to sin, in provoking the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities.

KJV ¹⁴ Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

VULC ¹⁴ Reliqua autem sermonum Ela, et omnia quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Israël ?

WLC ¹⁴ וְיֶ֛תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י אֵלָ֖ה וְכָל־ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הֲלֽוֹא־ הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־ סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ¹⁵ In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah did Zimri reign seven days in Tirzah. And the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.

VULC ¹⁵ Anno vigesimo septimo Asa regis Juda, regnavit Zambri septem diebus in Thersa : porro exercitus obsidebat Gebbethon urbem Philisthinorum.

KJV ¹⁶ And the people that were encamped heard say, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also slain the king: wherefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the host, king over Israel that day in the camp.

KJV ¹⁷ And Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.

KJV ¹⁸ And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the palace of the king's house, and burnt the king's house over him with fire, and died.

KJV ¹⁹ For his sins which he sinned in doing evil in the sight of the LORD, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin.

VULC ¹⁹ in peccatis suis quæ peccaverat, faciens malum coram Domino, et ambulans in via Jeroboam, et in peccato ejus, quo fecit peccare Israël.

KJV ²⁰ Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he wrought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

VULC ²⁰ Reliqua autem sermonum Zambri, et insidiarum ejus, et tyrannidis, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Israël ?

WLC ²⁰ וְיֶ֙תֶר֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י זִמְרִ֔י וְקִשְׁר֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָשָׁ֑ר הֲלֹֽא־ הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־ סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ²¹ Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and half followed Omri.

VULC ²¹ Tunc divisus est populus Israël in duas partes : media pars populi sequebatur Thebni filium Gineth, ut constitueret eum regem : et media pars Amri.

KJV ²² But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned.

VULC ²² Prævaluit autem populus qui erat cum Amri, populo qui sequebatur Thebni filium Gineth : mortuusque est Thebni, et regnavit Amri.

WLC ²² וַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק הָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַחֲרֵ֣י עָמְרִ֔י אֶת־ הָעָ֕ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַחֲרֵ֖י תִּבְנִ֣י בֶן־ גִּינַ֑ת וַיָּ֣מָת תִּבְנִ֔י וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ עָמְרִֽי׃

KJV ²³ In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah.

KJV ²⁴ And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver, and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, owner of the hill, Samaria.

VULC ²⁴ Emitque montem Samariæ a Somer duobus talentis argenti : et ædificavit eum, et vocavit nomen civitatis quam exstruxerat, nomine Semer domini montis, Samariam.

KJV ²⁵ But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him.

VULC ²⁵ Fecit autem Amri malum in conspectu Domini, et operatus est nequiter, super omnes qui fuerunt ante eum.

KJV ²⁶ For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin, to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities.

VULC ²⁶ Ambulavitque in omni via Jeroboam filii Nabat, et in peccatis ejus quibus peccare fecerat Israël, ut irritaret Dominum Deum Israël in vanitatibus suis.

KJV ³⁰ And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him.

VULC ³⁰ Et fecit Achab filius Amri malum in conspectu Domini super omnes qui fuerunt ante eum.

WLC ³⁰ וַיַּ֨עַשׂ אַחְאָ֧ב בֶּן־ עָמְרִ֛י הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה מִכֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְפָנָֽיו׃

KJV ³¹ And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

VULC ³¹ Nec suffecit ei ut ambularet in peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat : insuper duxit uxorem Jezabel filiam Ethbaal regis Sidoniorum. Et abiit, et servivit Baal, et adoravit eum.

WLC ³¹ וַיְהִי֙ הֲנָקֵ֣ל לֶכְתּ֔וֹ בְּחַטֹּ֖אות יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־ נְבָ֑ט וַיִּקַּ֨ח אִשָּׁ֜ה אֶת־ אִיזֶ֗בֶל בַּת־ אֶתְבַּ֙עַל֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ צִידֹנִ֔ים וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־ הַבַּ֔עַל וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לֽוֹ׃

KJV ³² And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

VULC ³² Et posuit aram Baal in templo Baal, quod ædificaverat in Samaria,

WLC ³² וַיָּ֥קֶם מִזְבֵּ֖חַ לַבָּ֑עַל בֵּ֣ית הַבַּ֔עַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנָ֖ה בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

KJV ³³ And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

VULC ³³ et plantavit lucum : et addidit Achab in opere suo, irritans Dominum Deum Israël super omnes reges Israël qui fuerunt ante eum.

WLC ³³ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ אַחְאָ֖ב אֶת־ הָאֲשֵׁרָ֑ה וַיּ֨וֹסֶף אַחְאָ֜ב לַעֲשׂ֗וֹת לְהַכְעִיס֙ אֶת־ יְהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִכֹּ֨ל מַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָי֖וּ לְפָנָֽיו׃

KJV ³⁴ In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.

VULC ³⁴ In diebus ejus ædificavit Hiel de Bethel Jericho : in Abiram primitivo suo fundavit eam, et in Segub novissimo suo posuit portas ejus, juxta verbum Domini quod locutus fuerat in manu Josue filii Nun.
