KJV ² And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

WLC ² וַיְהִ֖י בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑ית וַיֵּ֛רֶד יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָ֖ה אֶל־ מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ³ And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

LSG ³ Le roi d'Israël dit à ses serviteurs: Savez-vous que Ramoth en Galaad est à nous ? Et nous ne nous inquiétons pas de la reprendre des mains du roi de Syrie !

VULC ³ (Dixitque rex Israël ad servos suos : Ignoratis quod nostra sit Ramoth Galaad, et negligimus tollere eam de manu regis Syriæ ?)

WLC ³ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל־ עֲבָדָ֔יו הַיְדַעְתֶּ֕ם כִּֽי־ לָ֖נוּ רָמֹ֣ת גִּלְעָ֑ד וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ מַחְשִׁ֔ים מִקַּ֣חַת אֹתָ֔הּ מִיַּ֖ד מֶ֥לֶךְ אֲרָֽם׃

KJV ⁴ And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

LSG ⁴ Et il dit à Josaphat: Veux-tu venir avec moi attaquer Ramoth en Galaad ? Josaphat répondit au roi d'Israël: Nous irons, moi comme toi, mon peuple comme ton peuple, mes chevaux comme tes chevaux.

VULC ⁴ Et ait ad Josaphat : Veniesne mecum ad præliandum in Ramoth Galaad ?

KJV ⁵ And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

LSG ⁵ Puis Josaphat dit au roi d'Israël: Consulte maintenant, je te prie, la parole de l'Éternel.

VULC ⁵ Dixitque Josaphat ad regem Israël : Sicut ego sum, ita et tu : populus meus et populus tuus unum sunt : et equites mei, equites tui. Dixitque Josaphat ad regem Israël : Quære, oro te, hodie sermonem Domini.

WLC ⁵ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט אֶל־ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל דְּרָשׁ־ נָ֥א כַיּ֖וֹם אֶת־ דְּבַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ⁶ Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

LSG ⁶ Le roi d'Israël assembla les prophètes, au nombre d'environ quatre cents, et leur dit: Irai-je attaquer Ramoth en Galaad, ou dois-je y renoncer ? Et ils répondirent: Monte, et le Seigneur la livrera entre les mains du roi.

VULC ⁶ Congregavit ergo rex Israël prophetas, quadringentos circiter viros, et ait ad eos : Ire debeo in Ramoth Galaad ad bellandum, an quiescere ? Qui responderunt : Ascende, et dabit eam Dominus in manu regis.

WLC ⁶ וַיִּקְבֹּ֨ץ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל אֶֽת־ הַנְּבִיאִים֮ כְּאַרְבַּ֣ע מֵא֣וֹת אִישׁ֒ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם הַאֵלֵ֞ךְ עַל־ רָמֹ֥ת גִּלְעָ֛ד לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה אִם־ אֶחְדָּ֑ל וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ עֲלֵ֔ה וְיִתֵּ֥ן אֲדֹנָ֖י בְּיַ֥ד הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

KJV ⁷ And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

LSG ⁷ Mais Josaphat dit: N'y a-t-il plus ici aucun prophète de l'Éternel, par qui nous puissions le consulter ?

VULC ⁷ Dixit autem Josaphat : Non est hic propheta Domini quispiam, ut interrogemus per eum ?

WLC ⁷ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ יְה֣וֹשָׁפָ֔ט הַאֵ֨ין פֹּ֥ה נָבִ֛יא לַיהוָ֖ה ע֑וֹד וְנִדְרְשָׁ֖ה מֵאוֹתֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁸ And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

LSG ⁸ Le roi d'Israël répondit à Josaphat: Il y a encore un homme par qui l'on pourrait consulter l'Éternel ; mais je le hais, car il ne me prophétise rien de bon, il ne prophétise que du mal: c'est Michée, fils de Jimla. Et Josaphat dit: Que le roi ne parle pas ainsi !

VULC ⁸ Et ait rex Israël ad Josaphat : Remansit vir unus per quem possumus interrogare Dominum : sed ego odi eum, quia non prophetat mihi bonum, sed malum : Michæas filius Jemla. Cui Josaphat ait : Ne loquaris ita, rex.

KJV ⁹ Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.

KJV ¹⁰ And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

LSG ¹⁰ Le roi d'Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, étaient assis chacun sur son trône, revêtus de leurs habits royaux, dans la place à l'entrée de la porte de Samarie. Et tous les prophètes prophétisaient devant eux.

KJV ¹¹ And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.

LSG ¹¹ Sédécias, fils de Kenaana, s'était fait des cornes de fer, et il dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Avec ces cornes tu frapperas les Syriens jusqu'à les détruire.

VULC ¹¹ Fecit quoque sibi Sedecias filius Chanaana cornua ferrea, et ait : Hæc dicit Dominus : His ventilabis Syriam, donec deleas eam.

WLC ¹¹ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ ל֛וֹ צִדְקִיָּ֥ה בֶֽן־ כְּנַעֲנָ֖ה קַרְנֵ֣י בַרְזֶ֑ל וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה בְּאֵ֛לֶּה תְּנַגַּ֥ח אֶת־ אֲרָ֖ם עַד־ כַּלֹּתָֽם׃

KJV ¹² And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand.

LSG ¹² Et tous les prophètes prophétisaient de même, en disant: Monte à Ramoth en Galaad ! tu auras du succès, et l'Éternel la livrera entre les mains du roi.

VULC ¹² Omnesque prophetæ similiter prophetabant, dicentes : Ascende in Ramoth Galaad, et vade prospere, et tradet Dominus in manus regis.

WLC ¹² וְכָל־ הַנְּבִאִ֔ים נִבְּאִ֥ים כֵּ֖ן לֵאמֹ֑ר עֲלֵ֞ה רָמֹ֤ת גִּלְעָד֙ וְהַצְלַ֔ח וְנָתַ֥ן יְהוָ֖ה בְּיַ֥ד הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

KJV ¹³ And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.

LSG ¹³ Le messager qui était allé appeler Michée lui parla ainsi: Voici, les prophètes, d'un commun accord, prophétisent du bien au roi ; que ta parole soit donc comme la parole de chacun d'eux ! annonce du bien !

VULC ¹³ Nuntius vero qui ierat ut vocaret Michæam, locutus est ad eum, dicens : Ecce sermones prophetarum ore uno regi bona prædicant : sit ergo sermo tuus similis eorum, et loquere bona.

KJV ¹⁴ And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.

LSG ¹⁴ Michée répondit: L'Éternel est vivant ! j'annoncerai ce que l'Éternel me dira.

VULC ¹⁴ Cui Michæas ait : Vivit Dominus, quia quodcumque dixerit mihi Dominus, hoc loquar.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר מִיכָ֑יְהוּ חַי־ יְהוָ֕ה כִּ֠י אֶת־ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יֹאמַ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה אֵלַ֖י אֹת֥וֹ אֲדַבֵּֽר׃

KJV ¹⁵ So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

LSG ¹⁵ Lorsqu'il fut arrivé auprès du roi, le roi lui dit: Michée, irons-nous attaquer Ramoth en Galaad, ou devons-nous y renoncer ? Il lui répondit: Monte ! tu auras du succès, et l'Éternel la livrera entre les mains du roi.

VULC ¹⁵ Venit itaque ad regem, et ait illi rex : Michæa, ire debemus in Ramoth Galaad ad præliandum, an cessare ? Cui ille respondit : Ascende, et vade prospere, et tradet eam Dominus in manus regis.

KJV ¹⁶ And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

LSG ¹⁶ Et le roi lui dit: Combien de fois me faudra-t-il te faire jurer de ne me dire que la vérité au nom de l'Éternel ?

VULC ¹⁶ Dixit autem rex ad eum : Iterum atque iterum adjuro te, ut non loquaris mihi nisi quod verum est, in nomine Domini.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ עַד־ כַּמֶּ֥ה פְעָמִ֖ים אֲנִ֣י מַשְׁבִּעֶ֑ךָ אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹֽא־ תְדַבֵּ֥ר אֵלַ֛י רַק־ אֱמֶ֖ת בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁷ And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

LSG ¹⁷ Michée répondit: Je vois tout Israël dispersé sur les montagnes, comme des brebis qui n'ont point de berger ; et l'Éternel dit: Ces gens n'ont point de maître, que chacun retourne en paix dans sa maison !

VULC ¹⁷ Et ille ait : Vidi cunctum Israël dispersum in montibus, quasi oves non habentes pastorem. Et ait Dominus : Non habent isti dominum : revertatur unusquisque in domum suam in pace.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר רָאִ֤יתִי אֶת־ כָּל־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ נְפֹצִ֣ים אֶל־ הֶהָרִ֔ים כַּצֹּ֕אן אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵין־ לָהֶ֖ם רֹעֶ֑ה וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ לֹֽא־ אֲדֹנִ֣ים לָאֵ֔לֶּה יָשׁ֥וּבוּ אִישׁ־ לְבֵית֖וֹ בְּשָׁלֽוֹם׃

KJV ¹⁸ And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

LSG ¹⁸ Le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: Ne te l'ai-je pas dit ? Il ne prophétise sur moi rien de bon, il ne prophétise que du mal.

VULC ¹⁸ (Dixit ergo rex Israël ad Josaphat : Numquid non dixi tibi, quia non prophetat mihi bonum, sed semper malum ?)

WLC ¹⁸ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶל־ יְהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט הֲלוֹא֙ אָמַ֣רְתִּי אֵלֶ֔יךָ לֽוֹא־ יִתְנַבֵּ֥א עָלַ֛י ט֖וֹב כִּ֥י אִם־ רָֽע׃

KJV ¹⁹ And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

LSG ¹⁹ Et Michée dit: Écoute donc la parole de l'Éternel ! J'ai vu l'Éternel assis sur son trône, et toute l'armée des cieux se tenant auprès de lui, à sa droite et à sa gauche.

VULC ¹⁹ Ille vero addens, ait : Propterea audi sermonem Domini : vidi Dominum sedentem super solium suum, et omnem exercitum cæli assistentem ei a dextris et a sinistris :

WLC ¹⁹ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר לָכֵ֖ן שְׁמַ֣ע דְּבַר־ יְהוָ֑ה רָאִ֤יתִי אֶת־ יְהוָה֙ יֹשֵׁ֣ב עַל־ כִּסְא֔וֹ וְכָל־ צְבָ֤א הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ עֹמֵ֣ד עָלָ֔יו מִימִינ֖וֹ וּמִשְּׂמֹאלֽוֹ׃

KJV ²⁰ And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

LSG ²⁰ Et l'Éternel dit: Qui séduira Achab, pour qu'il monte à Ramoth en Galaad et qu'il y périsse ? Ils répondirent l'un d'une manière, l'autre d'une autre.

VULC ²⁰ et ait Dominus : Quis decipiet Achab regem Israël, ut ascendat, et cadat in Ramoth Galaad ? Et dixit unus verba hujuscemodi, et alius aliter.

WLC ²⁰ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֗ה מִ֤י יְפַתֶּה֙ אֶת־ אַחְאָ֔ב וְיַ֕עַל וְיִפֹּ֖ל בְּרָמֹ֣ת גִּלְעָ֑ד וַיֹּ֤אמֶר זֶה֙ בְּכֹ֔ה וְזֶ֥ה אֹמֵ֖ר בְּכֹֽה׃

KJV ²¹ And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

LSG ²¹ Et un esprit vint se présenter devant l'Éternel, et dit: Moi, je le séduirai. L'Éternel lui dit: Comment ?

VULC ²¹ Egressus est autem spiritus, et stetit coram Domino, et ait : Ego decipiam illum. Cui locutus est Dominus : In quo ?

WLC ²¹ וַיֵּצֵ֣א הָר֗וּחַ וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֲנִ֣י אֲפַתֶּ֑נּוּ וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוָ֛ה אֵלָ֖יו בַּמָּֽה׃

KJV ²² And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persude him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

LSG ²² Je sortirai, répondit-il, et je serai un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ses prophètes. L'Éternel dit: Tu le séduiras, et tu en viendras à bout ; sors, et fais ainsi !

VULC ²² Et ille ait : Egrediar, et ero spiritus mendax in ore omnium prophetarum ejus. Et dixit Dominus : Decipies, et prævalebis : egredere, et fac ita.

WLC ²² וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אֵצֵא֙ וְהָיִ֙יתִי֙ ר֣וּחַ שֶׁ֔קֶר בְּפִ֖י כָּל־ נְבִיאָ֑יו וַיֹּ֗אמֶר תְּפַתֶּה֙ וְגַם־ תּוּכָ֔ל צֵ֖א וַעֲשֵׂה־ כֵֽן׃

KJV ²³ Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

LSG ²³ Et maintenant, voici, l'Éternel a mis un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous tes prophètes qui sont là. Et l'Éternel a prononcé du mal contre toi.

VULC ²³ Nunc igitur ecce dedit Dominus spiritum mendacii in ore omnium prophetarum tuorum, qui hic sunt, et Dominus locutus est contra te malum.

WLC ²³ וְעַתָּ֗ה הִנֵּ֨ה נָתַ֤ן יְהוָה֙ ר֣וּחַ שֶׁ֔קֶר בְּפִ֖י כָּל־ נְבִיאֶ֣יךָ אֵ֑לֶּה וַֽיהוָ֔ה דִּבֶּ֥ר עָלֶ֖יךָ רָעָֽה׃

KJV ²⁴ But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

LSG ²⁴ Alors Sédécias, fils de Kenaana, s'étant approché, frappa Michée sur la joue, et dit: Par où l'esprit de l'Éternel est-il sorti de moi pour te parler ?

VULC ²⁴ Accessit autem Sedecias filius Chanaana, et percussit Michæam in maxillam, et dixit : Mene ergo dimisit spiritus Domini, et locutus est tibi ?

WLC ²⁴ וַיִּגַּשׁ֙ צִדְקִיָּ֣הוּ בֶֽן־ כְּנַעֲנָ֔ה וַיַּכֶּ֥ה אֶת־ מִיכָ֖יְהוּ עַל־ הַלֶּ֑חִי וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אֵי־ זֶ֨ה עָבַ֧ר רֽוּחַ־ יְהוָ֛ה מֵאִתִּ֖י לְדַבֵּ֥ר אוֹתָֽךְ׃

KJV ²⁵ And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

LSG ²⁵ Michée répondit: Tu le verras au jour où tu iras de chambre en chambre pour te cacher.

VULC ²⁵ Et ait Michæas : Visurus es in die illa quando ingredieris cubiculum intra cubiculum ut abscondaris.

KJV ³¹ But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

KJV ³⁵ And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

LSG ⁵³ (22:54) Il servit Baal et se prosterna devant lui, et il irrita l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, comme avait fait son père.

VULC ⁵³ Et fecit malum in conspectu Domini, et ambulavit in via patris sui et matris suæ, et in via Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël.

WLC ⁵³ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ בְּדֶ֤רֶךְ אָבִיו֙ וּבְדֶ֣רֶךְ אִמּ֔וֹ וּבְדֶ֙רֶךְ֙ יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־ נְבָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

VULC ⁵⁴ Servivit quoque Baal, et adoravit eum, et irritavit Dominum Deum Israël, juxta omnia quæ fecerat pater ejus.

WLC ⁵⁴ וַֽיַּעֲבֹד֙ אֶת־ הַבַּ֔עַל וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖ה ל֑וֹ וַיַּכְעֵ֗ס אֶת־ יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־ עָשָׂ֖ה אָבִֽיו׃
