BCC ¹ Les Ziphéens vinrent auprès de Saül à Gabaa, et dirent : « David est caché sur la colline de Hachila, à l'est de la lande. »

KJV ¹ And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?

MAR ¹ Les Ziphiens, vinrent encore vers Saül à Guibha, en disant : David ne se tient-il pas caché au coteau de Hakila, qui est vis-a-vis de Jésimon ?

BCC ² Saül se leva et descendit au désert de Ziph avec trois mille hommes d'élite d'Israël, pour chercher David au désert de Ziph.

KJV ² Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

MAR ² Et Saül se leva, et descendit au désert de Ziph, ayant avec lui trois mille hommes d'élite d'Israël, pour chercher David au désert de Ziph.

BCC ³ Saül campa sur la colline de Hachila, à l'est de la lande, près du chemin, et David demeurait dans le désert. S'étant aperçut que Saül marchait à sa recherche au désert,

KJV ³ And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.

MAR ³ Et Saül se campa au coteau de Hakila, qui est vis-à-vis de Jésimon, près du chemin. Or David se tenait au désert, et il aperçut venir Saül au désert pour le poursuivre.

BCC ⁴ David envoya des espions et apprit que Saül était réellement arrivé.

KJV ⁴ David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed.

MAR ⁴ Et il envoya des espions par lesquels il sut très-certainement que [Saül] était venu.

BCC ⁵ David se leva et vint au lieu où Saül était campé. David vit l'endroit où était couché Saül, avec Abner, fils de Ner, chef de son armée : or Saül couchait au milieu du camp, et le peuple était campé autour de lui.

KJV ⁵ And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him.

MAR ⁵ Alors David se leva, et vint au lieu où Saul s'était campé ; et David vit le lieu où Saül était couché, et Abner aussi, fils de Ner, chef de son armée ; or Saül était couché dans le rond [du camp], et le peuple était campé autour de lui.

BCC ⁶ S'adressant donc à Achimélech, le Héthéen, et à Abisaï, fils de Sarvia et frère de Joab, David dit : « Qui veut descendre avec moi au camp vers Saül. » Et Abisaï répondit : « Moi, je descendrai avec toi. »

KJV ⁶ Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.

MAR ⁶ Et David s'en entretint et en parla à Ahimélec, Héthien, et à Abisaï fils de Tseruja, [et] frère de Joab, en disant : Qui descendra avec moi vers Saül au camp ? Et Abisaï répondit : J'y descendrai avec toi.

BCC ⁷ David et Abisaï arrivèrent de nuit vers le peuple, et voici que Saül était couché au milieu du camp et dormait, sa lance fichée en terre à son chevet ; Abner et le peuple étaient couchés autour de lui.

KJV ⁷ So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.

MAR ⁷ David donc et Abisaï vinrent de nuit vers le peuple, et voici, Saül dormait étant couché dans le rond [du camp], et sa hallebarde était fichée en terre à son chevet ; et Abner, et le peuple étaient couchés autour de lui.

BCC ⁸ Abisaï dit à David : « Dieu a enfermé aujourd'hui ton ennemi entre tes mains ; maintenant, je te prie, laisse-moi le frapper de la lance et le clouer en terre d'un seul coup, sans que j'aie à y revenir. »

KJV ⁸ Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.

MAR ⁸ Alors Abisaï dit à David : Aujourd'hui Dieu a livré ton ennemi entre tes mains ; maintenant donc que je le frappe, je te prie, de la hallebarde, jusqu'en terre d'un seul coup, et je n'y retournerai pas une seconde fois.

BCC ⁹ Mais David dit à Abisaï : « Ne le tue pas ! Car qui porterait la main sur l'oint de Yahweh et resterait impuni ? »

KJV ⁹ And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?

MAR ⁹ Et David dit à Abisaï : Ne le mets point à mort ; car qui est-ce qui mettra sa main sur l'Oint de l'Eternel, et sera innocent ?

BCC ¹⁰ Et David dit : « Aussi vrai que Yahweh est vivant ! Ce sera seulement Yahweh qui le frappera ; ou bien son jour arrivera et il mourra, ou bien il descendra à la guerre et il périra ;

KJV ¹⁰ David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.

MAR ¹⁰ David dit encore : L'Eternel est vivant, si ce n'est que l'Eternel le frappe, ou que son jour vienne, ou qu'il descende dans une bataille, et qu'il y demeure ;

BCC ¹¹ mais que Yahweh me préserve de porter la main sur l'oint de Yahweh ! Maintenant, prends la lance qui est à son chevet, avec la cruche d'eau, et allons-nous-en. »

KJV ¹¹ The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.

MAR ¹¹ Que l'Eternel me garde de mettre ma main sur l'Oint de l'Eternel ; mais je te prie, prends maintenant la hallebarde qui est à son chevet, et le pot à eau, et allons-nous-en.

BCC ¹² Et David prit la lance et la cruche d'eau qui étaient au chevet de Saül, et ils s'en allèrent. Personne ne vit, personne ne sut, personne ne se réveilla, car ils dormaient tous, Yahweh ayant fait tomber sur eux un profond assoupissement.

KJV ¹² So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's bolster; and they gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awaked: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.

MAR ¹² David donc prit la hallebarde et le pot à eau qui étaient au chevet de Saül, puis ils s'en allèrent ; et il n'y eut personne qui les vît, ni qui les aperçût, ni qui s'éveillât ; car ils dormaient tous ; à cause que l'Eternel avait fait tomber sur eux un profond sommeil.

BCC ¹³ David passa de l'autre côté, et se tint au loin sur le sommet de la montagne ; un grand espace les séparait.

KJV ¹³ Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill afar off; a great space being between them:

MAR ¹³ Et David passa de l'autre côté, et s'arrêta sur le haut de la montagne, loin de là ; car il y avait une grande distance entr'eux.

BCC ¹⁴ Et David cria au peuple et à Abner, fils de Ner, en disant : « Ne répondras-tu pas, Abner ! » Abner répondit en disant : « Qui es-tu, toi qui cries vers le roi ? »

KJV ¹⁴ And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?

MAR ¹⁴ Et il cria au peuple, et à Abner fils de Ner, en disant : Ne répondras-tu pas, Abner ? Et Abner répondit, et dit : Qui es-tu qui cries au Roi ?

BCC ¹⁵ David dit à Abner : « N'es-tu pas un homme ? Et qui est ton pareil en Israël ? Pourquoi donc n'as-tu pas gardé le roi, ton seigneur ? Car quelqu'un du peuple est venu pour tuer le roi, ton seigneur.

KJV ¹⁵ And David said to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.

MAR ¹⁵ Alors David dit à Abner : N'es-tu pas un vaillant homme ? et qui est semblable à toi en Israël ? pourquoi donc n'as-tu pas gardé le Roi ton Seigneur ? car quelqu'un du peuple est venu pour tuer le Roi ton Seigneur.

BCC ¹⁶ Ce que tu as fait là n'est pas bien. Aussi vrai que Yahweh est vivant ! Vous avez mérité la mort, pour n'avoir pas gardé votre maître, l'oint de Yahweh. Regarde maintenant où sont la lance du roi et la cruche d'eau qui était à son chevet. »

KJV ¹⁶ This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the LORD's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster.

MAR ¹⁶ Ce n'est pas bien fait à toi ; l'Eternel est vivant, que vous êtes dignes de mort, pour avoir si mal gardé votre Seigneur, l'Oint de l'Eternel ; et maintenant regarde où est la hallebarde du Roi, et le pot à eau qui était à son chevet.

BCC ¹⁷ Saül reconnut la voix de David et dit : « Est-ce bien ta voix, mon fils David ? » Et David répondit : « C'est ma voix, ô roi, mon seigneur. »

KJV ¹⁷ And Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.

MAR ¹⁷ Alors Saül reconnut la voix de David, et dit : N'est-ce pas là ta voix, mon fils David ? Et David dit : C'est ma voix, ô Roi mon Seigneur.

BCC ¹⁸ Il ajouta : « Pourquoi mon seigneur poursuit-il son serviteur ? Qu'ai-je fait, et quel crime ma main a-t-elle commis ?

KJV ¹⁸ And he said, Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand?

MAR ¹⁸ Il dit encore : Pourquoi mon Seigneur poursuit-il son serviteur ? car qu'ai-je fait, et quel mal y a-t-il en ma main ?

BCC ¹⁹ Que le roi, mon seigneur, daigne maintenant écouter les paroles de ton serviteur : si c'est Yahweh qui t'excite contre moi, qu'il agrée le parfum d'une offrande ; mais si ce sont des hommes, qu'ils soient maudits devant Yahweh, puisqu'ils m'ont chassé maintenant, pour m'ôter ma place de l'héritage de Yahweh, en disant : Va servir des dieux étrangers !

KJV ¹⁹ Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.

MAR ¹⁹ Maintenant donc je te prie, que le Roi mon Seigneur écoute les paroles de son serviteur. Si c'est l'Eternel qui te pousse contre moi, que ton oblation lui soit agréable ; mais si ce sont les hommes, ils sont maudits devant l'Eternel ; car aujourd'hui ils m'ont chassé, afin que je ne me tienne point joint à l'héritage de l'Eternel, [et ils m'ont] dit : Va, sers les dieux étrangers.

BCC ²⁰ Et maintenant que mon sang ne tombe pas sur la terre, loin de la face de Yahweh ! Car le roi d'Israël s'est mis en marche pour chercher une puce, comme on poursuivrait une perdrix dans les montagnes. »

KJV ²⁰ Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains.

MAR ²⁰ Et maintenant, que mon sang ne tombe point en terre devant l'Eternel ; car le Roi d'Israël est sorti pour chercher une puce, [et] comme qui poursuivrait une perdrix dans les montagnes.

BCC ²¹ Saül dit : « J'ai péché ; reviens, mon fils David, car je ne te ferai plus de mal, puisqu'en ce jour ma vie a été précieuse à tes yeux. Voilà que j'ai agi en insensé et j'ai fait une grande faute. »

KJV ²¹ Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.

MAR ²¹ Alors Saül dit : J'ai péché, retourne-t'en, mon fils David ; car je ne te ferai plus de mal, parce qu'aujourd'hui ma vie t'a été précieuse. Voici, j'ai agi follement, et j'ai fait une très-grande faute.

BCC ²² David répondit : « Voici la lance, ô roi ; que l'un de tes jeunes gens vienne la prendre.

KJV ²² And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.

MAR ²² Et David répondit, et dit : Voici la hallebarde du Roi ; que quelqu'un des vôtres passe ici, et la prenne.

BCC ²³ Yahweh rendra à chacun selon sa justice et sa fidélité ; car Yahweh t'avait livré aujourd'hui entre mes mains, et je n'ai pas voulu porter la main sur l'oint de Yahweh.

KJV ²³ The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the LORD delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed.

MAR ²³ Or que l'Eternel rende à chacun selon sa justice, et [selon] sa fidélité ; car il t'avait livré aujourd'hui entre mes mains, mais je n'ai point voulu mettre ma main sur l'Oint de l'Eternel.

BCC ²⁴ Voici que, comme ta vie a été aujourd'hui d'un grand prix à mes yeux, ainsi ma vie sera d'un grand prix aux yeux de Yahweh, et il me délivrera de toute angoisse ! »

KJV ²⁴ And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.

MAR ²⁴ Voici donc, comme ton âme a été aujourd'hui de grand prix devant mes yeux, ainsi mon âme sera de grand prix devant les yeux de l'Eternel, et il me délivrera de toutes les afflictions.

BCC ²⁵ Saül dit à David : « Sois béni mon fils, David ! Tu réussiras certainement dans tes entreprises. » David continua son chemin, et Saül s'en retourna chez lui.

KJV ²⁵ Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

MAR ²⁵ Et Saül dit à David : Béni sois-tu, mon fils David ; tu ne manqueras pas de réussir, et d'avoir le dessus. Alors David continua son chemin, et Saül s'en retourna en son lieu.
