KJV ² And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.

S21 ² après avoir fait prisonniers les femmes et tous ceux qui s'y trouvaient, petits et grands. Ils n'avaient tué personne, mais ils avaient tout emmené et s'étaient remis en route.

VULC ² Et captivas duxerant mulieres ex ea, a minimo usque ad magnum : et non interfecerant quemquam, sed secum duxerant, et pergebant itinere suo.

KJV ³ So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

S21 ³ En arrivant à la ville,David et ses hommes virent qu'elle était brûlée et que leurs femmes, leurs fils et leurs filles avaient été faits prisonniers.

VULC ³ Cum ergo venissent David et viri ejus ad civitatem, et invenissent eam succensam igni, et uxores suas, et filios suos et filias, ductas esse captivas,

KJV ⁴ Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

S21 ⁴ Alors David et la troupe qui l'accompagnait se mirent à pleurer tout haut jusqu'à ce qu'ils n'aient plus la force de pleurer.

VULC ⁴ levaverunt David et populus qui erat cum eo voces suas, et planxerunt donec deficerent in eis lacrimæ.

KJV ⁵ And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

S21 ⁵ Les deux femmes de David, Achinoam de Jizreel et Abigaïl de Carmel, la femme de Nabal, avaient été emmenées.

VULC ⁵ Siquidem et duæ uxores David captivæ ductæ fuerant, Achinoam Jezrahelites, et Abigail uxor Nabal Carmeli.

KJV ⁶ And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

S21 ⁶ David fut dans une grande angoisse, car la troupe parlait de le lapider. Tous éprouvaient en effet de l'amertume, chacun à cause de ses fils et de ses filles. Mais David reprit courage en s'appuyant sur l'Eternel, son Dieu.

VULC ⁶ Et contristatus est David valde : volebat enim eum populus lapidare, quia amara erat anima uniuscujusque viri super filiis suis et filiabus : confortatus est autem David in Domino Deo suo.

KJV ⁷ And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.

S21 ⁷ Il dit au prêtre Abiathar, fils d'Achimélec: «Apporte-moi donc l'éphod!» Abiathar le lui apporta.

VULC ⁷ Et ait ad Abiathar sacerdotem filium Achimelech : Applica ad me ephod. Et applicavit Abiathar ephod ad David.

KJV ⁸ And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

S21 ⁸ David consulta l'Eternel en disant: «Dois-je poursuivre cette troupe? Réussirai-je à la rattraper?» L'Eternel lui répondit: «Poursuis-la, car tu la rattraperas et tu délivreras les prisonniers.»

VULC ⁸ Et consuluit David Dominum, dicens : Persequar latrunculos hos, et comprehendam eos, an non ? Dixitque ei Dominus : Persequere : absque dubio enim comprehendes eos, et excuties prædam.

KJV ⁹ So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.

S21 ⁹ David se mit en marche avec ses 600 compagnons. Ils arrivèrent au torrent de Besor, où ceux qui traînaient à l'arrière s'arrêtèrent.

VULC ⁹ Abiit ergo David, ipse et sexcenti viri qui erant cum eo, et venerunt usque ad torrentem Besor : et lassi quidam substiterunt.

KJV ¹⁰ But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.

S21 ¹⁰ David continua la poursuite avec 400 hommes, tandis que 200 s'étaient arrêtés, trop fatigués pour passer le torrent de Besor.

KJV ¹¹ And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;

KJV ¹² And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.

S21 ¹² et ils lui donnèrent un morceau d'un gâteau aux figues sèches et deux gâteaux aux raisins secs. Lorsqu'il eut mangé, les forces lui revinrent, car il n'avait pas pris de nourriture et pas bu d'eau depuis 3 jours et 3 nuits.

VULC ¹² sed et fragmen massæ caricarum, et duas ligaturas uvæ passæ. Quæ cum comedisset, reversus est spiritus ejus, et refocillatus est : non enim comederat panem, neque biberat aquam, tribus diebus et tribus noctibus.

KJV ¹³ And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick.

S21 ¹³ David lui dit: «A qui appartiens-tu et d'où viens-tu?» Il répondit: «Je suis un jeune Egyptien. J'étais au service d'un Amalécite, mais voilà 3 jours que mon maître m'a abandonné parce que j'étais malade.

VULC ¹³ Dixit itaque ei David : Cujus es tu ? vel unde ? et quo pergis ? Qui ait : Puer ægyptius ego sum, servus viri Amalecitæ : dereliquit autem me dominus meus, quia ægrotare cœpi nudiustertius.

KJV ¹⁴ We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.

S21 ¹⁴ Nous avons lancé une attaque dans le sud du territoire des Kéréthiens, sur le territoire de Juda et au sud du territoire de Caleb, et nous avons brûlé Tsiklag.»

VULC ¹⁴ Siquidem nos erupimus ad australem plagam Cerethi, et contra Judam, et ad meridiem Caleb, et Siceleg succendimus igni.

KJV ¹⁵ And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.

S21 ¹⁵ David lui dit: «Veux-tu me faire descendre vers cette troupe?» Il répondit: «Jure-moi au nom de Dieu que tu ne me tueras pas et que tu ne me livreras pas à mon maître, et je te ferai descendre vers cette troupe.»

VULC ¹⁵ Dixitque ei David : Potes me ducere ad cuneum istum ? Qui ait : Jura mihi per Deum quod non occidas me, et non tradas me in manus domini mei, et ego ducam te ad cuneum istum. Et juravit ei David.

KJV ¹⁶ And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.

S21 ¹⁶ Il lui servit ainsi de guide. Les Amalécites étaient dispersés dans la région. Ils mangeaient, buvaient et dansaient à cause du grand butin qu'ils avaient pris au pays des Philistins et de Juda.

VULC ¹⁶ Qui cum duxisset eum, ecce illi discumbebant super faciem universæ terræ comedentes et bibentes, et quasi festum celebrantes diem, pro cuncta præda et spoliis quæ ceperant de terra Philisthiim et de terra Juda.

KJV ¹⁷ And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.

S21 ¹⁷ David leur porta des coups depuis l'aube de ce jour-là jusqu'au lendemain soir, et aucun d'eux ne put s'échapper, excepté 400 jeunes hommes qui montèrent sur des chameaux et s'enfuirent.

VULC ¹⁷ Et percussit eos David a vespere usque ad vesperam alterius diei, et non evasit ex eis quisquam, nisi quadringenti viri adolescentes, qui ascenderant camelos et fugerant.

KJV ¹⁸ And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.

S21 ¹⁸ David sauva tout ce que les Amalécites avaient pris et il délivra aussi ses deux femmes.

VULC ¹⁸ Eruit ergo David omnia quæ tulerant Amalecitæ, et duas uxores suas eruit.

KJV ¹⁹ And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.

S21 ¹⁹ Il ne leur manqua personne, ni petit ni grand, ni fils ni fille, ni quoi que ce soit du butin ni rien de ce qu'on leur avait enlevé. David ramena tout.

VULC ¹⁹ Nec defuit quidquam a parvo usque ad magnum, tam de filiis quam de filiabus, et de spoliis, et quæcumque rapuerant : omnia reduxit David.
