BAN ¹ Ceux donc de Kirjath-Jéarim vinrent et firent monter l'arche de l'Eternel et la mirent dans la maison d'Abinadab au coteau, et ils consacrèrent Eléazar, son fils, pour garder l'arche de l'Eternel.

KJV ¹ And the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.

BAN ² Et depuis le jour où l'arche fut déposée à Kirjath-Jéarim, il se passa un long temps, vingt années, et toute la maison d'Israël soupira après l'Eternel.

KJV ² And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.

BAN ³ Et Samuel parla à toute la maison d'Israël, disant : Si c'est de tout votre coeur que vous retournez à l'Eternel, ôtez les dieux des étrangers et les Astartés du milieu de vous, et attachez fermement votre coeur à l'Eternel ; servez-le lui seul, et il vous délivrera de la main des Philistins.

KJV ³ And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

BAN ⁴ Et les fils d'Israël ôtèrent les Baals et les Astartés, et ils servirent l'Eternel seul.

KJV ⁴ Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only.

VULC ⁴ Abstulerunt ergo filii Israël Baalim et Astaroth, et servierunt Domino soli.

WLC ⁴ וַיָּסִ֙ירוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶת־ הַבְּעָלִ֖ים וְאֶת־ הָעַשְׁתָּרֹ֑ת וַיַּעַבְד֥וּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֖ה לְבַדּֽוֹ׃

BAN ⁵ Et Samuel dit : Assemblez tout Israël à Mitspa, et j'intercéderai pour vous auprès de l'Eternel.

KJV ⁵ And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the LORD.

VULC ⁵ Dixit autem Samuel : Congregate universum Israël in Masphath, ut orem pro vobis Dominum.

WLC ⁵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל קִבְצ֥וּ אֶת־ כָּל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל הַמִּצְפָּ֑תָה וְאֶתְפַּלֵּ֥ל בַּעַדְכֶ֖ם אֶל־ יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ⁶ Et ils s'assemblèrent à Mitspa et ils puisèrent de l'eau et ils la répandirent devant l'Eternel, et ils jeûnèrent en ce jour et ils dirent : Nous avons péché contre l'Eternel. Et Samuel jugea les fils d'Israël à Mitspa.

KJV ⁶ And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.

VULC ⁶ Et convenerunt in Masphath : hauseruntque aquam, et effuderunt in conspectu Domini : et jejunaverunt in die illa atque dixerunt ibi : Peccavimus Domino. Judicavitque Samuel filios Israël in Masphath.

BAN ⁷ Et les Philistins apprirent que les fils d'Israël étaient assemblés à Mitspa et les princes des Philistins montèrent contre Israël. Et les, fils d'Israël l'apprirent et eurent peur des Philistins ;

KJV ⁷ And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.

VULC ⁷ Et audierunt Philisthiim quod congregati essent filii Israël in Masphath, et ascenderunt satrapæ Philisthinorum ad Israël. Quod cum audissent filii Israël, timuerunt a facie Philisthinorum.

BAN ⁸ et les fils d'Israël dirent à Samuel : Ne cesse pas de crier pour nous à l'Eternel notre Dieu, pour qu'il nous sauve de la main des Philistins.

KJV ⁸ And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.

VULC ⁸ Dixeruntque ad Samuelem : Ne cesses pro nobis clamare ad Dominum Deum nostrum, ut salvet nos de manu Philisthinorum.

BAN ⁹ Et Samuel prit un agneau de lait et l'offrit en holocauste à l'Eternel ; et Samuel cria à l'Eternel pour Israël, et l'Eternel l'exauça.

KJV ⁹ And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the LORD: and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him.

VULC ⁹ Tulit autem Samuel agnum lactentem unum, et obtulit illum holocaustum integrum Domino : et clamavit Samuel ad Dominum pro Israël, et exaudivit eum Dominus.

BAN ¹⁰ Et comme Samuel offrait l'holocauste, les Philistins s'approchèrent pour combattre Israël. Et l'Eternel, en ce jour-là tonna à grand bruit sur les Philistins, et il les mit en déroute, et ils furent battus devant Israël.

KJV ¹⁰ And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.

VULC ¹⁰ Factum est autem, cum Samuel offerret holocaustum, Philisthiim iniere prælium contra Israël : intonuit autem Dominus fragore magno in die illa super Philisthiim, et exterruit eos, et cæsi sunt a facie Israël.

BAN ¹¹ Et ceux d'Israël sortirent de Mitspa et ils poursuivirent et frappèrent les Philistins jusqu'au-dessous de Bethcar.

KJV ¹¹ And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Bethcar.

VULC ¹¹ Egressique viri Israël de Masphath, persecuti sunt Philisthæos, et percusserunt eos usque ad locum qui erat subter Bethchar.

BAN ¹² Et Samuel prit une pierre et la plaça entre Mitspa et Schen et l'appela du nom de Eben-Ezer, et il dit : Jusqu'ici l'Eternel nous a secourus.

KJV ¹² Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.

VULC ¹² Tulit autem Samuel lapidem unum, et posuit eum inter Masphath et inter Sen : et vocavit nomen loci illius, Lapis adjutorii. Dixitque : Hucusque auxiliatus est nobis Dominus.

BAN ¹³ Et les Philistins furent abaissés et ils ne revinrent plus au pays d'Israël ; et la main de l'Eternel fut sur les Philistins pendant tout le temps de Samuel.

KJV ¹³ So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more into the coast of Israel: and the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

VULC ¹³ Et humiliati sunt Philisthiim, nec apposuerunt ultra ut venirent in terminos Israël. Facta est itaque manus Domini super Philisthæos cunctis diebus Samuelis.

BAN ¹⁴ Et les villes que les Philistins avaient prises à Israël retournèrent à Israël, d'Ekron jusqu'à Gath ; Israël arracha leur territoire de la main des Philistins, et il y eut paix entre Israël et les Amorrhéens.

KJV ¹⁴ And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even unto Gath; and the coasts thereof did Israel deliver out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

VULC ¹⁴ Et redditæ sunt urbes quas tulerant Philisthiim ab Israël, Israëli, ab Accaron usque Geth, et terminos suos : liberavitque Israël de manu Philisthinorum, eratque pax inter Israël et Amorrhæum.

BAN ¹⁵ Et Samuel jugea Israël tout le temps de sa vie.

KJV ¹⁵ And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

BAN ¹⁶ Et chaque année il faisait le tour par Béthel et Guilgal et Mitspa, et il jugeait Israël en tous ces lieux-là.

KJV ¹⁶ And he went from year to year in circuit to Bethel, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel in all those places.

VULC ¹⁶ et ibat per singulos annos circuiens Bethel et Galgala et Masphath, et judicabat Israëlem in supradictis locis.

WLC ¹⁶ וְהָלַ֗ךְ מִדֵּ֤י שָׁנָה֙ בְּשָׁנָ֔ה וְסָבַב֙ בֵּֽית־ אֵ֔ל וְהַגִּלְגָּ֖ל וְהַמִּצְפָּ֑ה וְשָׁפַט֙ אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֥ת כָּל־ הַמְּקוֹמ֖וֹת הָאֵֽלֶּה׃

BAN ¹⁷ Et il s'en retournait à Rama. C'est là qu'était sa maison, et il jugeait là Israël et il y bâtit un autel à l'Eternel.

KJV ¹⁷ And his return was to Ramah; for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the LORD.

VULC ¹⁷ Revertebaturque in Ramatha : ibi enim erat domus ejus, et ibi judicabat Israëlem : ædificavit etiam ibi altare Domino.
