KJV ¹ And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

MAR ¹ Or il arriva qu'aussitôt que le Royaume de Roboam fut établi et fortifié, [Roboam] abandonna la Loi de l'Eternel, et tout Israël [l'abandonna aussi] avec lui.

WLC ¹ וַיְהִ֗י כְּהָכִ֞ין מַלְכ֤וּת רְחַבְעָם֙ וּכְחֶזְקָת֔וֹ עָזַ֖ב אֶת־ תּוֹרַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וְכָל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עִמּֽוֹ׃

KJV ² And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,

MAR ² C'est pourquoi il arriva que la cinquième année du Roi Roboam, Sisak Roi d'Egypte monta contre Jérusalem, parce qu'ils avaient péché contre l'Eternel.

WLC ² וַיְהִ֞י בַּשָּׁנָ֤ה הַֽחֲמִישִׁית֙ לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֔ם עָלָ֛ה שִׁישַׁ֥ק מֶֽלֶךְ־ מִצְרַ֖יִם עַל־ יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם כִּ֥י מָעֲל֖וּ בַּיהוָֽה׃

KJV ³ With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

MAR ³ Il avait avec lui mille deux cents chariots, et soixante mille hommes de cheval, et le peuple qui était venu avec lui d'Egypte, [savoir], les Libyens, les Sukiens, et les Ethiopiens, était sans nombre.

WLC ³ בְּאֶ֤לֶף וּמָאתַ֙יִם֙ רֶ֔כֶב וּבְשִׁשִּׁ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף פָּרָשִׁ֑ים וְאֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֗ר לָעָ֞ם אֲשֶׁר־ בָּ֤אוּ עִמּוֹ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם לוּבִ֥ים סֻכִּיִּ֖ים וְכוּשִֽׁים׃

KJV ⁴ And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.

MAR ⁴ Et il prit les villes fortes qui appartenaient à Juda, et vint jusqu'à Jérusalem.

WLC ⁴ וַיִּלְכֹּ֛ד אֶת־ עָרֵ֥י הַמְּצֻר֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה וַיָּבֹ֖א עַד־ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

KJV ⁵ Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

MAR ⁵ Alors Sémahia le Prophète vint vers Roboam, et vers les principaux de Juda qui s'étaient assemblés à Jérusalem à cause de Sisak, et leur dit : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel : Vous m'avez abandonné, c'est pourquoi je vous ai aussi abandonnés entre les mains de Sisak.

WLC ⁵ וּֽשְׁמַֽעְיָ֤ה הַנָּבִיא֙ בָּ֣א אֶל־ רְחַבְעָ֔ם וְשָׂרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ נֶאֶסְפ֥וּ אֶל־ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם מִפְּנֵ֣י שִׁישָׁ֑ק וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לָהֶ֜ם כֹּה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה אַתֶּם֙ עֲזַבְתֶּ֣ם אֹתִ֔י וְאַף־ אֲנִ֛י עָזַ֥בְתִּי אֶתְכֶ֖ם בְּיַד־ שִׁישָֽׁק׃

KJV ⁶ Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

MAR ⁶ Alors les principaux d'Israël et le Roi s'humilièrent, et dirent : L'Eternel est juste.

WLC ⁶ וַיִּכָּנְע֥וּ שָׂרֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְהַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ צַדִּ֥יק ׀ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ⁷ And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

MAR ⁷ Et quand l'Eternel eut vu qu'ils s'étaient humiliés, la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Sémahia, en disant : Ils se sont humiliés, je ne les détruirai point, mais je leur donnerai dans peu de temps quelque moyen d'échapper, et ma fureur ne se répandra point sur Jérusalem par le moyen de Sisak.

WLC ⁷ וּבִרְא֤וֹת יְהוָה֙ כִּ֣י נִכְנָ֔עוּ הָיָה֩ דְבַר־ יְהוָ֨ה אֶל־ שְׁמַֽעְיָ֧ה ׀ לֵאמֹ֛ר נִכְנְע֖וּ לֹ֣א אַשְׁחִיתֵ֑ם וְנָתַתִּ֨י לָהֶ֤ם כִּמְעַט֙ לִפְלֵיטָ֔ה וְלֹא־ תִתַּ֧ךְ חֲמָתִ֛י בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם בְּיַד־ שִׁישָֽׁק׃

KJV ⁸ Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

MAR ⁸ Toutefois ils lui seront asservis, afin qu'ils sachent ce que c'est que de ma servitude, et de la servitude des Royaumes de la terre.

WLC ⁸ כִּ֥י יִהְיוּ־ ל֖וֹ לַעֲבָדִ֑ים וְיֵדְעוּ֙ עֲב֣וֹדָתִ֔י וַעֲבוֹדַ֖ת מַמְלְכ֥וֹת הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁹ So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

KJV ¹⁰ Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.

MAR ¹⁰ Et le Roi Roboam fit des boucliers d'airain au lieu de ceux-là, et les mit entre les mains des capitaines des archers qui gardaient la porte de la maison du Roi.

KJV ¹¹ And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.

MAR ¹¹ Et quand le Roi entrait dans la maison de l'Eternel, les archers venaient, et les portaient, puis ils les rapportaient dans la chambre des archers.

WLC ¹¹ וַיְהִ֛י מִדֵּי־ ב֥וֹא הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה בָּ֤אוּ הָרָצִים֙ וּנְשָׂא֔וּם וֶהֱשִׁב֖וּם אֶל־ תָּ֥א הָרָצִֽים׃

KJV ¹² And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.

MAR ¹² Parce donc qu'il s'humilia, la colère de l'Eternel se détourna de lui, en sorte qu'il ne les détruisit point entièrement ; car aussi il y avait de bonnes choses en Juda.

WLC ¹² וּבְהִכָּֽנְע֗וֹ שָׁ֤ב מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ אַף־ יְהוָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א לְהַשְׁחִ֖ית לְכָלָ֑ה וְגַם֙ בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה הָיָ֖ה דְּבָרִ֥ים טוֹבִֽים׃

KJV ¹³ So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

MAR ¹³ Ainsi le Roi Roboam se fortifia dans Jérusalem, et régna. 0r Roboam était âgé de quarante et un ans, quand il commença à régner, et il régna dix-sept ans à Jérusalem, la ville que l'Eternel avait choisie d'entre toutes les Tribus d'Israël pour y mettre son Nom ; et sa mère avait nom Nahama, et était Hammonite.

WLC ¹³ וַיִּתְחַזֵּ֞ק הַמֶּ֧לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֛ם בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וַיִּמְלֹ֑ךְ כִּ֣י בֶן־ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים וְאַחַ֣ת שָׁנָה֩ רְחַבְעָ֨ם בְּמָלְכ֜וֹ וּֽשֲׁבַ֨ע עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה שָׁנָ֣ה ׀ מָלַ֣ךְ בִּֽירוּשָׁלִַ֗ם הָ֠עִיר אֲשֶׁר־ בָּחַ֨ר יְהוָ֜ה לָשׂ֨וּם אֶת־ שְׁמ֥וֹ שָׁם֙ מִכֹּל֙ שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ נַעֲמָ֖ה הָֽעַמֹּנִֽית׃

KJV ¹⁴ And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.

MAR ¹⁴ Mais il fit ce qui est déplaisant à [l'Eternel] ; car il ne disposa point son coeur pour chercher l'Eternel.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיַּ֖עַשׂ הָרָ֑ע כִּ֣י לֹ֤א הֵכִין֙ לִבּ֔וֹ לִדְר֖וֹשׁ אֶת־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁵ Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

MAR ¹⁵ Or les faits de Roboam, tant les premiers que les derniers, ne sont-ils pas écrits dans les Livres de Sémahia le Prophète, et de Hiddo le Voyant, dans le récit des généalogies ; avec les guerres que Roboam et Jéroboam ont eues tout le temps qu'ils ont vécu ?

WLC ¹⁵ וְדִבְרֵ֣י רְחַבְעָ֗ם הָרִאשֹׁנִים֙ וְהָאֲ֣חַרוֹנִ֔ים הֲלֹא־ הֵ֨ם כְּתוּבִ֜ים בְּדִבְרֵ֨י שְׁמַֽעְיָ֧ה הַנָּבִ֛יא וְעִדּ֥וֹ הַחֹזֶ֖ה לְהִתְיַחֵ֑שׂ וּמִלְחֲמ֧וֹת רְחַבְעָ֛ם וְיָרָבְעָ֖ם כָּל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃

KJV ¹⁶ And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
