KJV ¹ The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

BAN ² à cause de la vérité qui demeure en nous, et qui sera avec nous éternellement.

KJV ² For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

BAN ³ Avec nous sera grâce, miséricorde, paix, de la part de Dieu, le Père, et de la part de Jésus-Christ, le Fils du Père, dans la vérité et la charité.

KJV ³ Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

BAN ⁴ J'ai été fort réjoui de ce que j'ai trouvé de tes enfants qui marchent dans la vérité, selon que nous avons reçu du Père le commandement.

KJV ⁴ I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

BAN ⁵ Et maintenant, je te demande, ô Dame (non comme t'écrivant un commandement nouveau, mais c'est celui que nous avons eu dès le commencement) que nous nous aimions les uns les autres.

KJV ⁵ And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

BAN ⁶ Et c'est en ceci que consiste l'amour, que nous marchions selon ses commandements ; et c'est là le commandement, comme vous l'avez entendu dès le commencement, afin que vous le suiviez.

KJV ⁶ And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

BAN ⁷ Car beaucoup de séducteurs se sont répandus dans le monde, ne confessant point Jésus-Christ venant en chair ; c'est là le séducteur et l'antéchrist.

KJV ⁷ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

BAN ⁸ Prenez garde à vous-mêmes, afin que vous ne perdiez pas le fruit de notre travail, mais que vous receviez une pleine récompense.

KJV ⁸ Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

BAN ⁹ Quiconque va plus loin et ne demeure pas dans la doctrine du Christ, n'a point Dieu. Celui qui demeure dans la doctrine, celui-là a et le Père et le Fils.

KJV ⁹ Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

BAN ¹⁰ Si quelqu'un vient à vous et n'apporte point cette doctrine, ne le recevez pas dans votre maison, et ne lui dites point : Salut !

KJV ¹⁰ If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

BAN ¹¹ car celui qui lui dit : Salut ! participe à ses mauvaises oeuvres.

KJV ¹¹ For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

BAN ¹² Quoique j'eusse beaucoup de choses à vous écrire, je n'ai pas voulu le faire avec le papier et l'encre ; mais j'espère me rendre auprès de vous et vous parler bouche à bouche, afin que notre joie soit accomplie.

KJV ¹² Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

BAN ¹³ Les enfants de ta soeur, l'élue, te saluent.

KJV ¹³ The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
