KJV ² And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

KJV ³ But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

LSG ³ Seulement, les hauts lieux ne disparurent point ; le peuple offrait encore des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts lieux.

VULC ³ Verumtamen excelsa non abstulit : adhuc enim populus immolabat, et adolebat in excelsis incensum.

WLC ³ וַיַּ֨עַשׂ יְהוֹאָ֧שׁ הַיָּשָׁ֛ר בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה כָּל־ יָמָ֑יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר הוֹרָ֔הוּ יְהוֹיָדָ֖ע הַכֹּהֵֽן׃

KJV ⁴ And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

LSG ⁴ Joas dit aux sacrificateurs: Tout l'argent consacré qu'on apporte dans la maison de l'Éternel, l'argent ayant cours, savoir l'argent pour le rachat des personnes d'après l'estimation qui en est faite, et tout l'argent qu'il vient au coeur de quelqu'un d'apporter à la maison de l'Éternel,

VULC ⁴ Dixitque Joas ad sacerdotes : Omnem pecuniam sanctorum, quæ illata fuerit in templum Domini a prætereuntibus, quæ offertur pro pretio animæ, et quam sponte et arbitrio cordis sui inferunt in templum Domini :

WLC ⁴ רַ֥ק הַבָּמ֖וֹת לֹא־ סָ֑רוּ ע֥וֹד הָעָ֛ם מְזַבְּחִ֥ים וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים בַּבָּמֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁵ Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.

LSG ⁵ que les sacrificateurs le prennent chacun de la part des gens de sa connaissance, et qu'ils l'emploient à réparer la maison partout où il se trouvera quelque chose à réparer.

VULC ⁵ accipiant illam sacerdotes juxta ordinem suum, et instaurent sartatecta domus, si quid necessarium viderint instauratione.

WLC ⁵ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹאָ֜שׁ אֶל־ הַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים כֹּל֩ כֶּ֨סֶף הַקֳּדָשִׁ֜ים אֲשֶׁר־ יוּבָ֤א בֵית־ יְהוָה֙ כֶּ֣סֶף עוֹבֵ֔ר אִ֕ישׁ כֶּ֥סֶף נַפְשׁ֖וֹת עֶרְכּ֑וֹ כָּל־ כֶּ֗סֶף אֲשֶׁ֤ר יַֽעֲלֶה֙ עַ֣ל לֶב־ אִ֔ישׁ לְהָבִ֖יא בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ⁶ But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

LSG ⁶ Mais il arriva que, la vingt-troisième année du roi Joas, les sacrificateurs n'avaient point réparé ce qui était à réparer à la maison.

VULC ⁶ Igitur usque ad vigesimum tertium annum regis Joas, non instauraverunt sacerdotes sartatecta templi.

WLC ⁶ יִקְח֤וּ לָהֶם֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים אִ֖ישׁ מֵאֵ֣ת מַכָּר֑וֹ וְהֵ֗ם יְחַזְּקוּ֙ אֶת־ בֶּ֣דֶק הַבַּ֔יִת לְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־ יִמָּצֵ֥א שָׁ֖ם בָּֽדֶק׃

KJV ⁷ Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

LSG ⁷ Le roi Joas appela le sacrificateur Jehojada et les autres sacrificateurs, et leur dit: Pourquoi n'avez-vous pas réparé ce qui est à réparer à la maison ? Maintenant, vous ne prendrez plus l'argent de vos connaissances, mais vous le livrerez pour les réparations de la maison.

VULC ⁷ Vocavitque rex Joas Jojadam pontificem et sacerdotes, dicens eis : Quare sartatecta non instauratis templi ? nolite ergo amplius accipere pecuniam juxta ordinem vestrum, sed ad instaurationem templi reddite eam.

KJV ⁸ And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.

LSG ⁸ Les sacrificateurs convinrent de ne pas prendre l'argent du peuple, et de n'être chargés des réparations de la maison.

VULC ⁸ Prohibitique sunt sacerdotes ultra accipere pecuniam a populo, et instaurare sartatecta domus.

WLC ⁸ וַיִּקְרָא֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ יְהוֹאָ֜שׁ לִיהוֹיָדָ֤ע הַכֹּהֵן֙ וְלַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם מַדּ֛וּעַ אֵינְכֶ֥ם מְחַזְּקִ֖ים אֶת־ בֶּ֣דֶק הַבָּ֑יִת וְעַתָּ֗ה אַל־ תִּקְחוּ־ כֶ֙סֶף֙ מֵאֵ֣ת מַכָּֽרֵיכֶ֔ם כִּֽי־ לְבֶ֥דֶק הַבַּ֖יִת תִּתְּנֻֽהוּ׃

KJV ⁹ But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.

LSG ⁹ Alors le sacrificateur Jehojada prit un coffre, perça un trou dans son couvercle, et le plaça à côté de l'autel, à droite, sur le passage par lequel on entrait à la maison de l'Éternel. Les sacrificateurs qui avaient la garde du seuil y mettaient tout l'argent qu'on apportait dans la maison de l'Éternel.

VULC ⁹ Et tulit Jojada pontifex gazophylacium unum, aperuitque foramen desuper, et posuit illud juxta altare ad dexteram ingredientium domum Domini : mittebantque in eo sacerdotes qui custodiebant ostia, omnem pecuniam quæ deferebatur ad templum Domini.

WLC ⁹ וַיֵּאֹ֖תוּ הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֑ים לְבִלְתִּ֤י קְחַת־ כֶּ֙סֶף֙ מֵאֵ֣ת הָעָ֔ם וּלְבִלְתִּ֥י חַזֵּ֖ק אֶת־ בֶּ֥דֶק הַבָּֽיִת׃

KJV ¹⁰ And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.

LSG ¹⁰ Quand ils voyaient qu'il y avait beaucoup d'argent dans le coffre, le secrétaire du roi montait avec le souverain sacrificateur, et ils serraient et comptaient l'argent qui se trouvait dans la maison de l'Éternel.

VULC ¹⁰ Cumque viderent nimiam pecuniam esse in gazophylacio, ascendebat scriba regis, et pontifex, effundebantque et numerabant pecuniam quæ inveniebatur in domo Domini :

WLC ¹⁰ וַיִּקַּ֞ח יְהוֹיָדָ֤ע הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֲר֣וֹן אֶחָ֔ד וַיִּקֹּ֥ב חֹ֖ר בְּדַלְתּ֑וֹ וַיִּתֵּ֣ן אֹתוֹ֩ אֵ֨צֶל הַמִּזְבֵּ֜חַ בְּבֽוֹא־ אִישׁ֙ בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֔ה וְנָֽתְנוּ־ שָׁ֤מָּה הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ שֹׁמְרֵ֣י הַסַּ֔ף אֶת־ כָּל־ הַכֶּ֖סֶף הַמּוּבָ֥א בֵית־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹¹ And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,

LSG ¹¹ Ils remettaient l'argent pesé entre les mains de ceux qui étaient chargés de faire exécuter l'ouvrage dans la maison de l'Éternel. Et l'on employait cet argent pour les charpentiers et pour les ouvriers qui travaillaient à la maison de l'Éternel,

VULC ¹¹ et dabant eam juxta numerum atque mensuram in manu eorum qui præerant cæmentariis domus Domini : qui impendebant eam in fabris lignorum et in cæmentariis, iis qui operabantur in domo Domini,

WLC ¹¹ וַֽיְהִי֙ כִּרְאוֹתָ֔ם כִּֽי־ רַ֥ב הַכֶּ֖סֶף בָּֽאָר֑וֹן וַיַּ֨עַל סֹפֵ֤ר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וְהַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּד֔וֹל וַיָּצֻ֙רוּ֙ וַיִּמְנ֔וּ אֶת־ הַכֶּ֖סֶף הַנִּמְצָ֥א בֵית־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹² And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

LSG ¹² pour les maçons et les tailleurs de pierres, pour les achats de bois et de pierres de taille nécessaires aux réparations de la maison de l'Éternel, et pour toutes les dépenses concernant les réparations de la maison.

VULC ¹² et sartatecta faciebant : et in iis qui cædebant saxa, et ut emerent ligna, et lapides, qui excidebantur, ita ut impleretur instauratio domus Domini in universis quæ indigebant expensa ad muniendam domum.

WLC ¹² וְנָתְנוּ֙ אֶת־ הַכֶּ֣סֶף הַֽמְתֻכָּ֔ן עַל־ עֹשֵׂ֣י הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וַיּוֹצִיאֻ֜הוּ לְחָרָשֵׁ֤י הָעֵץ֙ וְלַבֹּנִ֔ים הָעֹשִׂ֖ים בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹³ Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD:

KJV ¹⁴ But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the LORD.

KJV ¹⁵ Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.

LSG ¹⁵ On ne demandait pas de compte aux hommes entre les mains desquels on remettait l'argent pour qu'ils le donnassent à ceux qui faisaient l'ouvrage, car ils agissaient avec probité.

VULC ¹⁵ et non fiebat ratio iis hominibus qui accipiebant pecuniam ut distribuerent eam artificibus, sed in fide tractabant eam.

WLC ¹⁵ כִּֽי־ לְעֹשֵׂ֥י הַמְּלָאכָ֖ה יִתְּנֻ֑הוּ וְחִזְּקוּ־ ב֖וֹ אֶת־ בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁶ The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD: it was the priests'.

LSG ¹⁶ L'argent des sacrifices de culpabilité et des sacrifices d'expiation n'était point apporté dans la maison de l'Éternel: il était pour les sacrificateurs.

WLC ¹⁶ וְלֹ֧א יְחַשְּׁב֣וּ אֶת־ הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִתְּנ֤וּ אֶת־ הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ עַל־ יָדָ֔ם לָתֵ֖ת לְעֹשֵׂ֣י הַמְּלָאכָ֑ה כִּ֥י בֶאֱמֻנָ֖ה הֵ֥ם עֹשִֽׂים׃

KJV ¹⁷ Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

LSG ¹⁷ Alors Hazaël, roi de Syrie, monta et se battit contre Gath, dont il s'empara. Hazaël avait l'intention de monter contre Jérusalem.

VULC ¹⁷ Tunc ascendit Hazaël rex Syriæ, et pugnabat contra Geth, cepitque eam : et direxit faciem suam ut ascenderet in Jerusalem.

WLC ¹⁷ כֶּ֤סֶף אָשָׁם֙ וְכֶ֣סֶף חַטָּא֔וֹת לֹ֥א יוּבָ֖א בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה לַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים יִהְיֽוּ׃

KJV ¹⁸ And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

LSG ¹⁸ Joas, roi de Juda, prit toutes les choses consacrées, ce qui avait été consacré par Josaphat, par Joram et par Achazia, ses pères, rois de Juda, ce qu'il avait consacré lui-même, et tout l'or qui se trouvait dans les trésors de la maison de l'Éternel et de la maison du roi, et il envoya le tout à Hazaël, roi de Syrie, qui ne monta pas contre Jérusalem.

VULC ¹⁸ Quam ob rem tulit Joas rex Juda omnia sanctificata quæ consecraverant Josaphat, et Joram, et Ochozias, patres ejus reges Juda, et quæ ipse obtulerat : et universum argentum quod inveniri potuit in thesauris templi Domini et in palatio regis : misitque Hazaëli regi Syriæ, et recessit ab Jerusalem.

WLC ¹⁸ אָ֣ז יַעֲלֶ֗ה חֲזָאֵל֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם וַיִּלָּ֥חֶם עַל־ גַּ֖ת וַֽיִּלְכְּדָ֑הּ וַיָּ֤שֶׂם חֲזָאֵל֙ פָּנָ֔יו לַעֲל֖וֹת עַל־ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

KJV ¹⁹ And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

KJV ²⁰ And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.

KJV ²¹ For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.

LSG ²¹ Jozacar, fils de Schimeath, et Jozabad, fils de Schomer, ses serviteurs, le frappèrent, et il mourut. On l'enterra avec ses pères, dans la ville de David. Et Amatsia, son fils, régna à sa place.

VULC ²¹ Josachar namque filius Semaath, et Jozabad filius Somer servi ejus, percusserunt eum, et mortuus est : et sepelierunt eum cum patribus suis in civitate David : regnavitque Amasias filius ejus pro eo.

WLC ²¹ וַיָּקֻ֥מוּ עֲבָדָ֖יו וַיִּקְשְׁרֽוּ־ קָ֑שֶׁר וַיַּכּוּ֙ אֶת־ יוֹאָ֔שׁ בֵּ֥ית מִלֹּ֖א הַיּוֹרֵ֥ד סִלָּֽא׃

WLC ²² וְיוֹזָבָ֣ד בֶּן־ שִׁ֠מְעָת וִיהוֹזָבָ֨ד בֶּן־ שֹׁמֵ֤ר ׀ עֲבָדָיו֙ הִכֻּ֣הוּ וַיָּמֹ֔ת וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ אֹת֛וֹ עִם־ אֲבֹתָ֖יו בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֑ד וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֲמַצְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
