BAN ² Il avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu'il commença à régner, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Et le nom de sa mère était Jéhoaddan, de Jérusalem.

KJV ² He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

BAN ³ Et il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel, toutefois pas comme David son père ; il fit entièrement comme avait fait Joas, son père.

KJV ³ And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.

VULC ³ Et fecit rectum coram Domino, verumtamen non ut David pater ejus. Juxta omnia quæ fecit Joas pater suus, fecit :

WLC ³ וַיַּ֤עַשׂ הַיָּשָׁר֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה רַ֕ק לֹ֖א כְּדָוִ֣ד אָבִ֑יו כְּכֹ֧ל אֲשֶׁר־ עָשָׂ֛ה יוֹאָ֥שׁ אָבִ֖יו עָשָֽׂה׃

BAN ⁴ Les hauts-lieux seuls ne furent pas ôtés ; le peuple sacrifiait encore et faisait fumer l'encens sur les hauts-lieux.

KJV ⁴ Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.

VULC ⁴ nisi hoc tantum, quod excelsa non abstulit : adhuc enim populus immolabat, et adolebat incensum in excelsis.

BAN ⁵ Et il arriva, lorsque la royauté fut affermie dans sa main, qu'il frappa ceux de ses serviteurs qui avaient frappé le roi, son père ;

KJV ⁵ And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.

VULC ⁵ Cumque obtinuisset regnum, percussit servos suos, qui interfecerant regem patrem suum :

WLC ⁵ וַיְהִ֕י כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר חָזְקָ֥ה הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה בְּיָד֑וֹ וַיַּךְ֙ אֶת־ עֲבָדָ֔יו הַמַּכִּ֖ים אֶת־ הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ אָבִֽיו׃

BAN ⁶ mais il ne fit pas mourir les fils des assassins, selon ce qui est écrit dans le livre de la loi de Moise, où l'Eternel a donné ce commandement : Les pères ne seront pas mis à mort à cause des fils et les fils ne seront pas mis à mort à cause des pères, car chacun sera mis à mort pour son péché.

KJV ⁶ But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

BAN ⁷ Il frappa Edom dans la vallée du Sel, dix mille hommes, et dans cette guerre il prit Séla et la nomma Jokthéel [nom qu'elle a gardé] jusqu'à ce jour.

KJV ⁷ He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.

BAN ⁸ Alors Amatsia envoya des ambassadeurs à Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d'Israël, pour lui dire : Viens, que nous nous voyions en face !

KJV ⁸ Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

BAN ⁹ Et Joas, roi d'Israël, envoya dire à Amatsia, roi de Juda : L'épine qui est au Liban a envoyé dire au cèdre qui est au Liban : Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils. Et les bêtes des champs qui sont au Liban passèrent et foulèrent aux pieds l'épine.

KJV ⁹ And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

BAN ¹⁰ Tu as battu Edom et ton coeur t'a rendu orgueilleux ; jouis de ta gloire et reste chez toi ! Et pourquoi provoquerais-tu le malheur et succomberais-tu, toi, et Juda avec toi ?

KJV ¹⁰ Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

VULC ¹⁰ Percutiens invaluisti super Edom, et sublevavit te cor tuum : contentus esto gloria, et sede in domo tua : quare provocas malum, ut cadas tu et Judas tecum ?

BAN ¹¹ Et Amatsia n'écouta pas, et Joas, roi d'Israël, monta, et ils se virent en face, lui et Amatsia, roi de Juda, à Beth-Sémès, qui appartenait à Juda.

KJV ¹¹ But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

VULC ¹¹ Et non acquievit Amasias. Ascenditque Joas rex Israël, et viderunt se, ipse et Amasias rex Juda, in Bethsames oppido Judæ.

BAN ¹² Et Juda fut battu devant Israël et ils s'enfuirent chacun chez soi.

KJV ¹² And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.

VULC ¹² Percussusque est Juda coram Israël, et fugerunt unusquisque in tabernacula sua.

BAN ¹³ Et Joas, roi d'Israël, s'empara d'Amatsia, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils d'Achazia, à Beth-Sémès, et il vint à Jérusalem et fit dans le mur de Jérusalem, à la porte d'Ephraïm, jusqu'à la porte de l'angle, une brèche de quatre cents coudées.

KJV ¹³ And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

BAN ¹⁴ Et il prit tout l'or et l'argent et tous les vases qui se trouvaient dans la maison de l'Eternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, et des otages, et il s'en retourna à Samarie.

KJV ¹⁴ And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.

KJV ¹⁵ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

VULC ¹⁵ Reliqua autem verborum Joas quæ fecit, et fortitudo ejus qua pugnavit contra Amasiam regem Juda, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

BAN ¹⁶ Et Joas s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enterré à Samarie avec les rois d'Israël. Et Jéroboam, son fils, régna à sa place.

KJV ¹⁶ And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.

KJV ¹⁷ And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

BAN ¹⁹ Et on fit contre lui une conjuration à Jérusalem et il s'enfuit à Lakis, et on le fit poursuivre à Lakis et on l'y mit à mort.

KJV ¹⁹ Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

BAN ²⁰ Et on le transporta sur des chevaux, et il fut enterré avec ses pères à Jérusalem, dans la cité de David.

KJV ²⁰ And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

VULC ²⁰ et asportaverunt in equis, sepultusque est in Jerusalem cum patribus suis in civitate David.

WLC ²⁰ וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ עַל־ הַסּוּסִ֑ים וַיִּקָּבֵ֧ר בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם עִם־ אֲבֹתָ֖יו בְּעִ֥יר דָּוִֽד׃

BAN ²¹ Et tout le peuple de Juda prit Azaria (il était âgé de seize ans), et on le fit roi à la place de son père Amatsia.

KJV ²¹ And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

VULC ²¹ Tulit autem universus populus Judæ Azariam annos natum sedecim, et constituerunt eum regem pro patre ejus Amasia.

WLC ²¹ וַיִּקְח֞וּ כָּל־ עַ֤ם יְהוּדָה֙ אֶת־ עֲזַרְיָ֔ה וְה֕וּא בֶּן־ שֵׁ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָ֑ה וַיַּמְלִ֣כוּ אֹת֔וֹ תַּ֖חַת אָבִ֥יו אֲמַצְיָֽהוּ׃

BAN ²² Il rebâtit Elath et la fit rentrer au pouvoir de Juda, après que le roi se fut endormi avec ses pères.

KJV ²² He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

VULC ²² Ipse ædificavit Ælath, et restituit eam Judæ, postquam dormivit rex cum patribus suis.

WLC ²² ה֚וּא בָּנָ֣ה אֶת־ אֵילַ֔ת וַיְשִׁבֶ֖הָ לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה אַחֲרֵ֥י שְׁכַֽב־ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עִם־ אֲבֹתָֽיו׃

BAN ²³ La quinzième année d'Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, Jéroboam, fils de Joas, roi d'Israël, devint roi à Samarie ; il régna quarante et un ans.

KJV ²³ In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.

BAN ²⁴ Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel ; il ne se détourna point de tous les péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nébat, qui avait fait pécher Israël.

KJV ²⁴ And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

VULC ²⁴ Et fecit quod malum est coram Domino : non recessit ab omnibus peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël.

WLC ²⁴ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לֹ֣א סָ֗ר מִכָּל־ חַטֹּאות֙ יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־ נְבָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ²⁵ Il rétablit la frontière d'Israël de l'entrée du chemin de Hamath jusqu'à la mer de la Plaine, selon la parole de l'Eternel, Dieu d'Israël, qu'il avait prononcée par son serviteur Jonas, fils d'Amitthaï, le prophète qui était de Gath-Hépher.

KJV ²⁵ He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.

VULC ²⁵ Ipse restituit terminos Israël ab introitu Emath usque ad mare solitudinis, juxta sermonem Domini Dei Israël quem locutus est per servum suum Jonam filium Amathi prophetam, qui erat de Geth, quæ est in Opher.

WLC ²⁵ ה֗וּא הֵשִׁיב֙ אֶת־ גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִלְּב֥וֹא חֲמָ֖ת עַד־ יָ֣ם הָעֲרָבָ֑ה כִּדְבַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֗ר בְּיַד־ עַבְדּ֞וֹ יוֹנָ֤ה בֶן־ אֲמִתַּי֙ הַנָּבִ֔יא אֲשֶׁ֖ר מִגַּ֥ת הַחֵֽפֶר׃

BAN ²⁶ Car l'Eternel avait vu la misère fort amère d'Israël, et [que] c'en était fait des forts et des faibles, et [qu'] il n'y avait personne qui vînt en aide à Israël.

KJV ²⁶ For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

VULC ²⁶ Vidit enim Dominus afflictionem Israël amaram nimis, et quod consumpti essent usque ad clausos carcere et extremos, et non esset qui auxiliaretur Israëli.

WLC ²⁶ כִּי־ רָאָ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־ עֳנִ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֹרֶ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד וְאֶ֤פֶס עָצוּר֙ וְאֶ֣פֶס עָז֔וּב וְאֵ֥ין עֹזֵ֖ר לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ²⁷ Et l'Eternel n'avait pas parlé de faire disparaître le nom d'Israël de dessous les cieux ; et il les délivra par le moyen de Jéroboam, fils de Joas.

KJV ²⁷ And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

VULC ²⁷ Nec locutus est Dominus ut deleret nomen Israël de sub cælo, sed salvavit eos in manu Jeroboam filii Joas.

WLC ²⁷ וְלֹא־ דִבֶּ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה לִמְחוֹת֙ אֶת־ שֵׁ֣ם יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִתַּ֖חַת הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וַיּ֣וֹשִׁיעֵ֔ם בְּיַ֖ד יָרָבְעָ֥ם בֶּן־ יוֹאָֽשׁ׃

BAN ²⁸ Le reste de l'histoire de Jéroboam et tout, ce qu'il fit, et sa vaillance dans la guerre, et comment il fit revenir à Israël Damas et Hamath de Juda, ces choses ne sont-elles pas écrites dans le livre des Annales des rois d'Israël ?

KJV ²⁸ Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

VULC ²⁸ Reliqua autem sermonum Jeroboam, et universa quæ fecit, et fortitudo ejus qua præliatus est, et quomodo restituit Damascum et Emath Judæ in Israël, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

WLC ²⁸ וְיֶתֶר֩ דִּבְרֵ֨י יָרָבְעָ֜ם וְכָל־ אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשָׂה֙ וּגְבוּרָת֣וֹ אֲשֶׁר־ נִלְחָ֔ם וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר הֵשִׁ֜יב אֶת־ דַּמֶּ֧שֶׂק וְאֶת־ חֲמָ֛ת לִיהוּדָ֖ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל הֲלֹא־ הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־ סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ²⁹ Et Jéroboam s'endormit avec ses pères, les rois d'Israël ; et Zacharie, son fils, régna à sa place.

KJV ²⁹ And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.

VULC ²⁹ Dormivitque Jeroboam cum patribus suis regibus Israël, et regnavit Zacharias filius ejus pro eo.
