BAN ¹ Et la troisième année d'Osée, fils d'Ela, roi d'Israël, Ezéchias, fils d'Achaz, roi de Juda, commença à régner.

KJV ¹ Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

BAN ² Il avait vingt-cinq ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Et le nom de sa mère était Abi, fille de Zacharie.

KJV ² Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

BAN ³ Et il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel entièrement comme avait fait David, son père.

KJV ³ And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

BAN ⁴ Il fit disparaître les hauts-lieux, il abattit les statues, brisa les aschères et mit en pièces le serpent d'airain que Moïse avait fait, car jusqu'à ces jours-là les fils d'Israël lui faisaient des encensements, et on l'appelait Néhusthan.

KJV ⁴ He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

BAN ⁵ Il mit sa confiance en l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël ; et parmi tous les rois de Juda qui furent après lui et qui avaient été avant lui, il n'y en a point eu comme lui.

KJV ⁵ He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.

BAN ⁶ Il s'attacha à l'Eternel et ne se détourna point de lui et garda les ordonnances que l'Eternel avait prescrites à Moïse.

KJV ⁶ For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

BAN ⁷ Et l'Eternel fut avec lui, il réussit dans tout ce qu'il entreprit. Il se révolta contre le roi d'Assyrie et ne fut plus son vassal.

KJV ⁷ And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

BAN ⁸ Il frappa les Philistins jusqu'à Gaza et son territoire, depuis les [simples] tours de garde jusqu'aux villes fortes.

KJV ⁸ He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

BAN ⁹ Et la quatrième année du règne d'Ezéchias, la septième année d'Osée, fils d'Ela, roi d'Israël, Salmanasar, roi d'Assyrie, monta contre Samarie et l'assiégea.

KJV ⁹ And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

BAN ¹⁰ Et ils la prirent au bout de trois ans ; la sixième année d'Ezéchias, qui était la neuvième année d'Osée, roi d'Israël, Samarie fut prise.

KJV ¹⁰ And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

BAN ¹¹ Et le roi d'Assyrie déporta Israël en Assyrie, et il les établit à Chalach et sur le Chabor, [sur le] fleuve de Gozan et dans les villes de la Médie,

KJV ¹¹ And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

BAN ¹² parce qu'ils n'avaient point écouté la voix de l'Eternel, leur Dieu, et qu'ils avaient transgressé son alliance, tout ce qu'avait ordonné Moïse, serviteur de l'Eternel ; ils ne l'avaient ni écouté ni pratiqué.

KJV ¹² Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.

BAN ¹³ Et la quatorzième année du règne d'Ezéchias, Sanchérib, roi d'Assyrie, monta contre toutes les villes fortifiées de Juda et les prit.

KJV ¹³ Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

BAN ¹⁴ Et Ezéchias, roi de Juda, envoya dire au roi d'Assyrie, à Lakis : J'ai péché ! Retire-toi de moi ! Ce que tu m'imposeras, je le supporterai. Et le roi d'Assyrie imposa à Ezéchias, roi de Juda, trois cents talents d'argent et trente talents d'or.

KJV ¹⁴ And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

BAN ¹⁵ Et Ezéchias donna tout l'argent qui se trouvait dans la maison de l'Eternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi.

KJV ¹⁵ And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.

BAN ¹⁶ Dans ce temps Ezéchias enleva les portes du temple de l'Eternel et les jambages qu'Ezéchias, roi de Juda, avait plaqués, et il les donna au roi d'Assyrie.

KJV ¹⁶ At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

BAN ¹⁷ Et le roi d'Assyrie envoya Tharthan, Rabsaris et Rabsaké, de Lakis vers le roi Ezéchias, avec de grandes forces, à Jérusalem ; et ils montèrent et arrivèrent à Jérusalem. Et ils montèrent et arrivèrent et se tinrent près de l'aqueduc de l'étang supérieur qui est sur le chemin du champ des blanchisseurs.

KJV ¹⁷ And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

BAN ¹⁸ Et ils crièrent au roi ; et Eliakim, fils de Hilkija, préfet du palais, Sebna, le secrétaire, et Joah, fils d'Asaph, l'historiographe, se rendirent auprès de lui.

KJV ¹⁸ And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

BAN ¹⁹ Et Rabsaké leur dit : Dites, je vous prie, à Ezéchias : Ainsi a dit le grand roi, le roi d'Assyrie : D'où te vient tant d'assurance ?

KJV ¹⁹ And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

BAN ²⁰ Tu as prononcé de vaines paroles, il faut conseil et vaillance pour faire la guerre. Maintenant, sur qui t'appuies-tu donc pour t'être révolté contre moi ?

KJV ²⁰ Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

BAN ²¹ Maintenant, voici, tu t'es trouvé un sujet de confiance dans l'appui de l'Egypte, de ce roseau cassé qui entre dans la main de celui qui s'appuie dessus, et la lui perce ; tel est Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, pour tous ceux qui se confient en lui.

KJV ²¹ Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

BAN ²² Que si vous me dites : C'est en l'Eternel, notre Dieu, que nous nous confions, n'est-ce pas lui dont Ezéchias a aboli les hauts-lieux et les autels en disant à Juda et à Jérusalem : C'est devant cet autel-ci que vous vous prosternerez, à Jérusalem ?

KJV ²² But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

BAN ²³ Fais donc maintenant une gageure avec mon maître, le roi d'Assyrie : je te donnerai deux mille chevaux, si tu peux, toi, fournir autant d'hommes pour les monter !

KJV ²³ Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

BAN ²⁴ Comment ferais-tu tourner le dos à un seul capitaine d'entre les moindres serviteurs de mon maître ? Tu te confies dans l'Egypte à cause de ses chars et de ses chevaux.

KJV ²⁴ How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

BAN ²⁵ Maintenant, n'est-ce pas du gré de l'Eternel que je suis monté contre ce lieu pour le détruire ? L'Eternel m'a dit : Monte contre ce pays et détruis-le !

KJV ²⁵ Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

BAN ²⁶ Et Eliakim, fils de Hilkija, Sebna et Joah dirent à Rabsaké : Parle, je te prie, à tes serviteurs en syriaque ; car nous le comprenons ; et ne nous parle pas en langue judaïque, aux oreilles du peuple qui est là sur la muraille.

KJV ²⁶ Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

BAN ²⁷ Et Rabsaké leur dit : Est-ce à ton maître et à toi que mon maître m'a envoyé porter ce message ? N'est-ce pas à ces hommes qui sont assis sur la muraille et qui bientôt en seront à manger leurs excréments et à boire leur urine avec vous ?

KJV ²⁷ But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

BAN ²⁸ Et Rabsaké se tint debout et cria d'une voix forte, en langue judaïque, et parla et dit : Ecoutez le message du grand roi, du roi d'Assyrie.

KJV ²⁸ Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:

BAN ²⁹ Ainsi a dit le roi : Ne vous laissez pas abuser par Ezéchias ; car il ne pourra vous délivrer de ma main.

KJV ²⁹ Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

BAN ³⁰ Et qu'Ezéchias ne vous engage point à vous confier en l'Eternel, en vous disant : L'Eternel certainement nous délivrera, et cette ville ne sera pas livrée aux mains du roi d'Assyrie !

KJV ³⁰ Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

BAN ³¹ N'écoutez point Ezéchias, car ainsi a dit le roi d'Assyrie : Faites la paix avec moi et venez vous rendre à moi, et chacun de vous mangera de sa vigne et de son figuier et boira l'eau de sa citerne,

KJV ³¹ Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

BAN ³² jusqu'à ce que je vienne et que je vous emmène dans un pays comme le vôtre, un pays de blé et de vin, un pays de pain et de vignes, un pays d'oliviers à huile et de miel ; et vous vivrez et ne mourrez pas. N'écoutez point Ezéchias, car il vous abuse, disant : L'Eternel nous délivrera !

KJV ³² Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

BAN ³³ Les dieux des nations ont-ils délivré chacun leur pays de la main du roi d'Assyrie ?

KJV ³³ Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

BAN ³⁴ Où sont les dieux de Hamath et d'Arpad ? où les dieux de Sépharvaïm, d'Héna et d'Ivva ? Et Samarie a-t-elle donc été délivrée de ma main ?

KJV ³⁴ Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

BAN ³⁵ Quels sont, parmi tous les dieux des pays, ceux qui ont délivré leur pays de ma main, pour que l'Eternel délivre Jérusalem de ma main ?

KJV ³⁵ Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

BAN ³⁶ Et le peuple garda le silence et ne lui répondit mot, car le roi avait donné cet ordre : Vous ne lui répondrez pas.

KJV ³⁶ But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

BAN ³⁷ Et Eliakim, fils de Hilkija, préfet du palais, Sebna, le secrétaire, et Joah, fils d'Asaph, l'historiographe, revinrent auprès d'Ezéchias, les vêtements déchirés, et lui rapportèrent les paroles de Rabsaké.

KJV ³⁷ Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
