BCC ³ Ils lui dirent : "Ainsi dit Ézéchias : Ce jour est un jour d'angoisse, de châtiment et d'opprobre ; car les enfants sont près de sortir du sein maternel, et il n'y a point de force pour enfanter.

KJV ³ And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

WLC ³ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ יוֹם־ צָרָ֧ה וְתוֹכֵחָ֛ה וּנְאָצָ֖ה הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֣י בָ֤אוּ בָנִים֙ עַד־ מַשְׁבֵּ֔ר וְכֹ֥חַ אַ֖יִן לְלֵדָֽה׃

BCC ⁴ Peut-être Yahweh, ton Dieu, entendra-t-il toutes les paroles du grand échanson, que le roi d'Assyrie, son maître, a envoyé pour insulter au Dieu vivant, et le punira-t-il à cause des paroles qu'a entendues Yahweh, ton Dieu. Fais donc monter une prière pour le reste qui subsiste encore."

KJV ⁴ It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.

BCC ⁵ Les serviteurs du roi Ézéchias se rendirent auprès d'Isaïe ;

KJV ⁵ So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

WLC ⁵ וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ עַבְדֵ֛י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ אֶל־ יְשַֽׁעַיָֽהוּ׃

BCC ⁶ et Isaïe leur dit : "Voici ce que vous direz à votre maître. Ainsi dit Yahweh : "Ne t'effraie point des paroles que tu as entendues, par lesquelles les serviteurs du roi d'Assyrie m'ont outragé.

KJV ⁶ And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהֶם֙ יְשַֽׁעְיָ֔הוּ כֹּ֥ה תֹאמְר֖וּן אֶל־ אֲדֹֽנֵיכֶ֑ם כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה אַל־ תִּירָא֙ מִפְּנֵ֤י הַדְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ אֲשֶׁ֧ר גִּדְּפ֛וּ נַעֲרֵ֥י מֶֽלֶךְ־ אַשּׁ֖וּר אֹתִֽי׃

BCC ⁷ Voici que je mets en lui un esprit tel que, sur une nouvelle qu'il apprendra, il retournera dans son pays, et je le ferai tomber par l'épée dans son pays."

KJV ⁷ Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

BCC ⁸ Le grand échanson s'en retourna et trouva le roi d'Assyrie qui attaquait Lobna ; car il avait appris que son maître était parti de Lachis.

KJV ⁸ So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

WLC ⁸ וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙ רַב־ שָׁקֵ֔ה וַיִּמְצָא֙ אֶת־ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר נִלְחָ֖ם עַל־ לִבְנָ֑ה כִּ֣י שָׁמַ֔ע כִּ֥י נָסַ֖ע מִלָּכִֽישׁ׃

BCC ⁹ Le roi d'Assyrie reçut une nouvelle au sujet de Tharaca, roi d'Ethiopie ; on lui dit : "Voici qu'il s'est mis en marche pour te faire la guerre." Et il envoya de nouveau des messagers à Ézéchias, en disant :

WLC ⁹ וַיִּשְׁמַ֗ע אֶל־ תִּרְהָ֤קָה מֶֽלֶך־ כּוּשׁ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּ֥ה יָצָ֖א לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם אִתָּ֑ךְ וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙ וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל־ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ לֵאמֹֽר׃

BCC ¹⁰ "Vous parlerez ainsi à Ézéchias, roi de Juda : Que ton Dieu en qui tu te confies, ne t'abuse point en disant : Jérusalem ne sera pas livrée entre les mains du roi d'Assyrie.

KJV ¹⁰ Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

WLC ¹⁰ כֹּ֣ה תֹאמְר֗וּן אֶל־ חִזְקִיָּ֤הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אַל־ יַשִּׁאֲךָ֣ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתָּ֛ה בֹּטֵ֥חַ בּ֖וֹ לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹ֤א תִנָּתֵן֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם בְּיַ֖ד מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃

BCC ¹¹ Voici que tu as appris ce qu'ont fait les rois d'Assyrie à tous les pays, les soumettant à l'anathème !... Et toi, tu serais délivré !...

KJV ¹¹ Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

WLC ¹¹ הִנֵּ֣ה ׀ אַתָּ֣ה שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ אֵת֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשׂ֜וּ מַלְכֵ֥י אַשּׁ֛וּר לְכָל־ הָאֲרָצ֖וֹת לְהַֽחֲרִימָ֑ם וְאַתָּ֖ה תִּנָּצֵֽל׃

BCC ¹² Est-ce que leurs dieux les ont délivrées, ces nations que mes pères ont détruites : Gosan, Haran, Réseph, et les fils d'Eden qui étaient à Thélasar ?

KJV ¹³ Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?

WLC ¹³ אַיּ֤וֹ מֶֽלֶךְ־ חֲמָת֙ וּמֶ֣לֶךְ אַרְפָּ֔ד וּמֶ֖לֶךְ לָעִ֣יר סְפַרְוָ֑יִם הֵנַ֖ע וְעִוָּֽה׃

BCC ¹⁴ Ézéchias ayant pris la lettre de la main des messagers, la lut ; puis Ézéchias monta à la maison de Yahweh et la déploya devant Yahweh.

KJV ¹⁴ And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

BCC ¹⁵ Et Ézéchias pria devant Yahweh, en disant : "Yahweh, Dieu d'Israël, assis sur les Chérubins, c'est vous qui êtes le seul Dieu de tous les royaumes de la terre, vous qui avez fait les cieux et la terre.

KJV ¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

BCC ¹⁸ et qu'ils ont jeté leurs dieux dans le feu ; car ce n'étaient pas des dieux, mais des ouvrages de mains d'homme, du bois et de la pierre ; et ils les ont anéantis.

KJV ¹⁸ And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

BCC ²¹ Voici la parole que Yahweh a prononcée contre lui : Elle te méprise, elle se moque de toi, la vierge, fille de Sion ; elle branle la tête derrière toi, la fille de Jérusalem.

KJV ²² Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

WLC ²² אֶת־ מִ֤י חֵרַ֙פְתָּ֙ וְגִדַּ֔פְתָּ וְעַל־ מִ֖י הֲרִימ֣וֹתָ קּ֑וֹל וַתִּשָּׂ֥א מָר֛וֹם עֵינֶ֖יךָ עַל־ קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BCC ²³ Par tes messagers tu as insulté le Seigneur, et tu as dit : Avec la multitude de mes chars, j'ai gravi le sommet des montagnes, les extrémités du Liban ; Je couperai les plus élevés de ses cèdres, les plus beaux de ses cyprès ; et j'atteindrai sa dernière cime, sa forêt semblable à un verger.

KJV ²³ By thy messengers thou hast reproached the LORD, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.

BCC ²⁴ J'ai creusé et j'ai bu des eaux étrangères ; avec la plante de mes pieds je dessécherai tous les fleuves de l'Égypte.

KJV ²⁴ I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.

WLC ²⁴ אֲנִ֣י קַ֔רְתִּי וְשָׁתִ֖יתִי מַ֣יִם זָרִ֑ים וְאַחְרִב֙ בְּכַף־ פְּעָמַ֔י כֹּ֖ל יְאֹרֵ֥י מָצֽוֹר׃

BCC ²⁵ N'as-tu pas appris que depuis longtemps j'ai fait ces choses, que je les ai formées dès les temps anciens ? À présent je les fais s'accomplir, pour que tu réduises en monceaux de ruines les villes fortes.

KJV ²⁵ Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.

WLC ²⁵ הֲלֹֽא־ שָׁמַ֤עְתָּ לְמֵֽרָחוֹק֙ אֹתָ֣הּ עָשִׂ֔יתִי לְמִ֥ימֵי קֶ֖דֶם וִֽיצַרְתִּ֑יהָ עַתָּ֣ה הֲבֵיאתִ֗יהָ וּתְהִ֗י לַהְשׁ֛וֹת גַּלִּ֥ים נִצִּ֖ים עָרִ֥ים בְּצֻרֽוֹת׃

BCC ²⁶ Leurs habitants sont sans force, dans l'épouvante et le trouble ; ils sont comme l'herbe des champs et la tendre verdure, comme le gazon des toits, comme le blé niellé qui sèche avant sa maturité.

KJV ²⁶ Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

WLC ²⁶ וְיֹֽשְׁבֵיהֶן֙ קִצְרֵי־ יָ֔ד חַ֖תּוּ וַיֵּבֹ֑שׁוּ הָי֞וּ עֵ֤שֶׂב שָׂדֶה֙ וִ֣ירַק דֶּ֔שֶׁא חֲצִ֣יר גַּגּ֔וֹת וּשְׁדֵפָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י קָמָֽה׃

BCC ²⁷ Mais je sais quand tu t'assieds, quand tu sors et quand tu entres, je connais ta fureur contre moi.

KJV ²⁷ But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

WLC ²⁷ וְשִׁבְתְּךָ֛ וְצֵאתְךָ֥ וּבֹאֲךָ֖ יָדָ֑עְתִּי וְאֵ֖ת הִֽתְרַגֶּזְךָ֥ אֵלָֽי׃

BCC ²⁸ Parce que tu es furieux contre moi, et que ton arrogance est montée à mes oreilles, je mettrai mon anneau dans ta narine et mon mors à tes lèvres, et je te ferai retourner par le chemin par lequel tu es venu.

KJV ²⁸ Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

WLC ²⁸ יַ֚עַן הִתְרַגֶּזְךָ֣ אֵלַ֔י וְשַׁאֲנַנְךָ֖ עָלָ֣ה בְאָזְנָ֑י וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י חַחִ֜י בְּאַפֶּ֗ךָ וּמִתְגִּי֙ בִּשְׂפָתֶ֔יךָ וַהֲשִׁ֣בֹתִ֔יךָ בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁר־ בָּ֥אתָ בָּֽהּ׃

BCC ²⁹ Et ceci sera un signe pour toi : On mangera cette année le produit du grain tombé ; la seconde année, on mangera ce qui croît de soi-même ; mais la troisième année, vous sèmerez et vous moissonnerez, vous planterez des vignes et vous en mangerez le fruit.

KJV ²⁹ And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.

WLC ²⁹ וְזֶה־ לְּךָ֣ הָא֔וֹת אָכ֤וֹל הַשָּׁנָה֙ סָפִ֔יחַ וּבַשָּׁנָ֥ה הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית סָחִ֑ישׁ וּבַשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֗ית זִרְע֧וּ וְקִצְר֛וּ וְנִטְע֥וּ כְרָמִ֖ים וְאִכְל֥וּ פִרְיָֽם׃

KJV ³⁰ And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

BCC ³¹ Car de Jérusalem il sortira un reste, et de la montagne de Sion des réchappés. Voilà ce que fera le zèle de Yahweh des armées.

KJV ³¹ For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

WLC ³¹ כִּ֤י מִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ תֵּצֵ֣א שְׁאֵרִ֔ית וּפְלֵיטָ֖ה מֵהַ֣ר צִיּ֑וֹן קִנְאַ֛ת יְהוָ֥ה תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־ זֹּֽאת׃

BCC ³² C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh sur le roi d'Assyrie : il n'entrera point dans cette ville, il n'y lancera point de flèches, il ne lui présentera point de boucliers, il n'élèvera point de retranchements contre elle.

KJV ³² Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.

WLC ³² לָכֵ֗ן כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר לֹ֤א יָבֹא֙ אֶל־ הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את וְלֹֽא־ יוֹרֶ֥ה שָׁ֖ם חֵ֑ץ וְלֹֽא־ יְקַדְּמֶ֣נָּה מָגֵ֔ן וְלֹֽא־ יִשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ עָלֶ֖יהָ סֹלְלָֽה׃

BCC ³³ Il s'en retournera par le chemin par lequel il est venu, et il n'entrera point dans cette ville, ‒ oracle de Yahweh.

KJV ³³ By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

WLC ³³ בַּדֶּ֥רֶךְ אֲשֶׁר־ יָבֹ֖א בָּ֣הּ יָשׁ֑וּב וְאֶל־ הָעִ֥יר הַזֹּ֛את לֹ֥א יָבֹ֖א נְאֻם־ יְהוָֽה׃

BCC ³⁴ Je protégerai cette ville pour la sauver, à cause de moi et à cause de David, mon serviteur.

KJV ³⁴ For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

WLC ³⁴ וְגַנּוֹתִ֛י אֶל־ הָעִ֥יר הַזֹּ֖את לְהֽוֹשִׁיעָ֑הּ לְמַֽעֲנִ֔י וּלְמַ֖עַן דָּוִ֥ד עַבְדִּֽי׃

BCC ³⁵ Cette nuit-là, l'ange de Yahweh sortit et frappa, dans le camp des Assyriens, cent quatre-vingt-cinq mille hommes ; et quand on se leva le matin, voici que c'étaient tous des cadavres.

KJV ³⁵ And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

BCC ³⁶ Et Sennachérib, roi d'Assyrie, ayant levé son camp, partit et s'en retourna, et il resta à Ninive.

KJV ³⁶ So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

BCC ³⁷ Comme il était prosterné dans la maison de Nesroch, son dieu, Adramélech et Sarasar, ses fils, le frappèrent avec l'épée, et s'enfuirent au pays d'Ararat. Et Assarhaddon, son fils, règna à sa place.

KJV ³⁷ And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.
