KJV ¹ And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

KJV ² And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.

LSG ² Élie dit à Élisée: Reste ici, je te prie, car l'Éternel m'envoie jusqu'à Béthel. Élisée répondit: L'Éternel est vivant et ton âme est vivante ! je ne te quitterai point. Et ils descendirent à Béthel.

MAR ² Et Elie dit à Elisée : Je te prie demeure ici, car l'Eternel m'envoie jusqu'à Bethel. Mais Elisée répondit : L'Eternel est vivant, et ton âme est vivante, que je ne te laisserai point ; ainsi ils descendirent à Bethel.

KJV ³ And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

LSG ³ Les fils des prophètes qui étaient à Béthel sortirent vers Élisée, et lui dirent: Sais-tu que l'Éternel enlève aujourd'hui ton maître au-dessus de ta tête ? Et il répondit: Je le sais aussi ; taisez-vous.

MAR ³ Et les fils des Prophètes qui étaient à Bethel, sortirent vers Elisée, et lui dirent : Ne sais-tu pas bien qu'aujourd'hui l'Eternel va enlever ton maître d'avec toi ? Et il répondit : Je le sais bien aussi ; taisez-vous.

MAR ⁴ Et Elie lui dit : Elisée, je te prie, demeure ici, car l'Eternel m'envoie à Jérico. Mais il lui répondit : L'Eternel est vivant, et ton âme est vivante, que je ne te laisserai point ! Ainsi ils s'en allèrent à Jérico.

MAR ⁶ Et Elie lui dit : Elisée, je te prie demeure ici, car l'Eternel m'envoie jusqu'au Jourdain. Mais il répondit : L'Eternel est vivant, et ton âme est vivante, que je ne te laisserai point ; ainsi ils s'en allèrent eux deux ensemble.

KJV ⁸ And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

KJV ⁹ And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

KJV ¹⁰ And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

LSG ¹⁰ Élie dit: Tu demandes une chose difficile. Mais si tu me vois pendant que je serai enlevé d'avec toi, cela t'arrivera ainsi ; sinon, cela n'arrivera pas.

MAR ¹⁰ Et il lui dit : Tu as demandé une chose difficile ; si tu me vois enlever d'avec toi, cela te sera accordé ; mais si tu ne me vois point, cela ne te sera point accordé.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הִקְשִׁ֣יתָ לִשְׁא֑וֹל אִם־ תִּרְאֶ֨ה אֹתִ֜י לֻקָּ֤ח מֵֽאִתָּךְ֙ יְהִֽי־ לְךָ֣ כֵ֔ן וְאִם־ אַ֖יִן לֹ֥א יִהְיֶֽה׃

KJV ¹¹ And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

KJV ¹² And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

MAR ¹² Et Elisée le regardant criait : Mon père ! mon père ! chariot d'Israël, et sa cavalerie ! et il ne le vit plus ; puis prenant ses vêtements, il les déchira en deux pièces.

KJV ¹³ He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

MAR ¹⁴ Ensuite il prit le manteau d'Elie, qui était tombé de dessus lui, et frappa les eaux, et dit : Où est l'Eternel le Dieu d'Elie, l'Eternel lui-même ? Il frappa donc les eaux, et elles se divisèrent en deux ; et Elisée passa.

KJV ¹⁵ And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

LSG ¹⁵ Les fils des prophètes qui étaient à Jéricho, vis-à-vis, l'ayant vu, dirent: L'esprit d'Élie repose sur Élisée ! Et ils allèrent à sa rencontre, et se prosternèrent contre terre devant lui.

MAR ¹⁵ Et quand les fils des Prophètes qui étaient à Jérico vis-à-vis, l'eurent vu, ils dirent : L'Esprit d'Elie s'est posé sur Elisée, et ils vinrent au-devant de lui, et se prosternèrent devant lui en terre ;

KJV ¹⁶ And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

LSG ¹⁶ Ils lui dirent: Voici, il y a parmi tes serviteurs cinquante hommes vaillants ; veux-tu qu'ils aillent chercher ton maître ? Peut-être que l'esprit de l'Éternel l'a emporté et l'a jeté sur quelque montagne ou dans quelque vallée. Il répondit: Ne les envoyez pas.

MAR ¹⁶ Et lui dirent : Voici maintenant avec tes serviteurs cinquante hommes puissants, nous te prions qu'ils s'en aillent chercher ton maître, de peur que l'Esprit de l'Eternel ne l'ait enlevé, et ne l'ait jeté sur quelque montagne, ou dans quelque vallée ; et il répondit : N'y envoyez point.

KJV ¹⁷ And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

LSG ¹⁷ Mais ils le pressèrent longtemps ; et il dit: Envoyez-les. Ils envoyèrent les cinquante hommes, qui cherchèrent Élie pendant trois jours et ne le trouvèrent point.

MAR ¹⁷ Mais ils le pressèrent tant par leurs paroles, qu'il en était honteux. Il [leur] dit donc : Envoyez-y. Et ils envoyèrent [ces] cinquante hommes, qui pendant trois jours cherchèrent [Elie], mais ils ne le trouvèrent point.

KJV ¹⁸ And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?

LSG ¹⁸ Lorsqu'ils furent de retour auprès d'Élisée, qui était à Jéricho, il leur dit: Ne vous avais-je pas dit: N'allez pas ?

MAR ¹⁸ Puis ils retournèrent vers lui à Jérico, où il s'était arrêté, et il leur dit : Ne vous avais-je pas dit de n'y aller point ?

WLC ¹⁸ וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ אֵלָ֔יו וְה֖וּא יֹשֵׁ֣ב בִּירִיח֑וֹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם הֲלֽוֹא־ אָמַ֥רְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם אַל־ תֵּלֵֽכוּ׃

KJV ¹⁹ And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.

LSG ¹⁹ Les gens de la ville dirent à Élisée: Voici, le séjour de la ville est bon, comme le voit mon seigneur ; mais les eaux sont mauvaises, et le pays est stérile.

MAR ¹⁹ Et les gens de la ville dirent à Elisée : Voici maintenant, la demeure de cette ville est bonne, comme mon Seigneur voit, mais les eaux en sont mauvaises, et la terre en est stérile.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָעִיר֙ אֶל־ אֱלִישָׁ֔ע הִנֵּה־ נָ֞א מוֹשַׁ֤ב הָעִיר֙ ט֔וֹב כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲדֹנִ֖י רֹאֶ֑ה וְהַמַּ֥יִם רָעִ֖ים וְהָאָ֥רֶץ מְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃

KJV ²⁰ And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

MAR ²⁰ Et il dit : Apportez-moi un vase neuf, et mettez-y du sel ; et ils le lui apportèrent.

WLC ²⁰ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר קְחוּ־ לִי֙ צְלֹחִ֣ית חֲדָשָׁ֔ה וְשִׂ֥ימוּ שָׁ֖ם מֶ֑לַח וַיִּקְח֖וּ אֵלָֽיו׃

KJV ²¹ And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

LSG ²¹ Il alla vers la source des eaux, et il y jeta du sel, et dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: J'assainis ces eaux ; il n'en proviendra plus ni mort, ni stérilité.

MAR ²¹ Puis il alla vers le lieu d'où sortaient les eaux, et il y jeta le sel, en disant : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel : J'ai rendu ces eaux saines, elles ne causeront plus la mort, et [la terre ne sera plus] stérile.

WLC ²¹ וַיֵּצֵא֙ אֶל־ מוֹצָ֣א הַמַּ֔יִם וַיַּשְׁלֶךְ־ שָׁ֖ם מֶ֑לַח וַיֹּ֜אמֶר כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה רִפִּ֙אתִי֙ לַמַּ֣יִם הָאֵ֔לֶּה לֹֽא־ יִהְיֶ֥ה מִשָּׁ֛ם ע֖וֹד מָ֥וֶת וּמְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃

KJV ²² So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

MAR ²² Elles furent donc rendues saines, [et elles l'ont été] jusqu'à ce jour, selon la parole qu'Elisée avait proférée.

WLC ²² וַיֵּרָפ֣וּ הַמַּ֔יִם עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּדְבַ֥ר אֱלִישָׁ֖ע אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽר׃

KJV ²³ And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

LSG ²³ Il monta de là à Béthel ; et comme il cheminait à la montée, des petits garçons sortirent de la ville, et se moquèrent de lui. Ils lui disaient: Monte, chauve ! monte, chauve !

KJV ²⁴ And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

LSG ²⁴ Il se retourna pour les regarder, et il les maudit au nom de l'Éternel. Alors deux ours sortirent de la forêt, et déchirèrent quarante-deux de ces enfants.

KJV ²⁵ And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
