KJV 1 And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

VULC 1 Factum est autem cum levare vellet Dominus Eliam per turbinem in cælum, ibant Elias et Eliseus de Galgalis.

WLC 1 וַיְהִ֗י בְּהַעֲל֤וֹת יְהוָה֙ אֶת־ אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ בַּֽסְעָרָ֖ה הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ אֵלִיָּ֛הוּ וֶאֱלִישָׁ֖ע מִן־ הַגִּלְגָּֽל׃

KJV 2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.

VULC 2 Dixitque Elias ad Eliseum : Sede hic, quia Dominus misit me usque in Bethel. Cui ait Eliseus : Vivit Dominus, et vivit anima tua, quia non derelinquam te. Cumque descendissent Bethel,

WLC 2 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ אֵלִיָּ֨הוּ אֶל־ אֱלִישָׁ֜ע שֵֽׁב־ נָ֣א פֹ֗ה כִּ֤י יְהוָה֙ שְׁלָחַ֣נִי עַד־ בֵּֽית־ אֵ֔ל וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֔ע חַי־ יְהוָ֥ה וְחֵֽי־ נַפְשְׁךָ֖ אִם־ אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ וַיֵּרְד֖וּ בֵּֽית־ אֵֽל׃

KJV 3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

VULC 3 egressi sunt filii prophetarum qui erant in Bethel, ad Eliseum, et dixerunt ei : Numquid nosti quia hodie Dominus tollet dominum tuum a te ? Qui respondit : Et ego novi : silete.

WLC 3 וַיֵּצְא֨וּ בְנֵֽי־ הַנְּבִיאִ֥ים אֲשֶׁר־ בֵּֽית־ אֵל֮ אֶל־ אֱלִישָׁע֒ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֔יו הֲיָדַ֕עְתָּ כִּ֣י הַיּ֗וֹם יְהוָ֛ה לֹקֵ֥חַ אֶת־ אֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ מֵעַ֣ל רֹאשֶׁ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר גַּם־ אֲנִ֥י יָדַ֖עְתִּי הֶחֱשֽׁוּ׃

KJV 4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

WLC 4 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ ל֨וֹ אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ אֱלִישָׁ֣ע ׀ שֵֽׁב־ נָ֣א פֹ֗ה כִּ֤י יְהוָה֙ שְׁלָחַ֣נִי יְרִיח֔וֹ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר חַי־ יְהוָ֥ה וְחֵֽי־ נַפְשְׁךָ֖ אִם־ אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ יְרִיחֽוֹ׃

KJV 5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

VULC 5 accesserunt filii prophetarum qui erant in Jericho, ad Eliseum, et dixerunt ei : Numquid nosti quia Dominus hodie tollet dominum tuum a te ? Et ait : Et ego novi : silete.

WLC 5 וַיִּגְּשׁ֨וּ בְנֵֽי־ הַנְּבִיאִ֥ים אֲשֶׁר־ בִּֽירִיחוֹ֮ אֶל־ אֱלִישָׁע֒ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֔יו הֲיָדַ֕עְתָּ כִּ֣י הַיּ֗וֹם יְהוָ֛ה לֹקֵ֥חַ אֶת־ אֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ מֵעַ֣ל רֹאשֶׁ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר גַּם־ אֲנִ֥י יָדַ֖עְתִּי הֶחֱשֽׁוּ׃

KJV 6 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.

WLC 6 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ ל֨וֹ אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ שֵֽׁב־ נָ֣א פֹ֗ה כִּ֤י יְהוָה֙ שְׁלָחַ֣נִי הַיַּרְדֵּ֔נָה וַיֹּ֕אמֶר חַי־ יְהוָ֥ה וְחֵֽי־ נַפְשְׁךָ֖ אִם־ אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV 7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

VULC 7 et quinquaginta viri de filiis prophetarum secuti sunt eos, qui et steterunt e contra, longe : illi autem ambo stabant super Jordanem.

WLC 7 וַחֲמִשִּׁ֨ים אִ֜ישׁ מִבְּנֵ֤י הַנְּבִיאִים֙ הָֽלְכ֔וּ וַיַּעַמְד֥וּ מִנֶּ֖גֶד מֵרָח֑וֹק וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם עָמְד֥וּ עַל־ הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

KJV 8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

VULC 8 Tulitque Elias pallium suum, et involvit illud, et percussit aquas : quæ divisæ sunt in utramque partem, et transierunt ambo per siccum.

WLC 8 וַיִּקַּח֩ אֵלִיָּ֨הוּ אֶת־ אַדַּרְתּ֤וֹ וַיִּגְלֹם֙ וַיַּכֶּ֣ה אֶת־ הַמַּ֔יִם וַיֵּחָצ֖וּ הֵ֣נָּה וָהֵ֑נָּה וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם בֶּחָרָבָֽה׃

KJV 9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

VULC 9 Cumque transissent, Elias dixit ad Eliseum : Postula quod vis ut faciam tibi, antequam tollar a te. Dixitque Eliseus : Obsecro ut fiat in me duplex spiritus tuus.

WLC 9 וַיְהִ֣י כְעָבְרָ֗ם וְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּ אָמַ֤ר אֶל־ אֱלִישָׁע֙ שְׁאַל֙ מָ֣ה אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־ לָּ֔ךְ בְּטֶ֖רֶם אֶלָּקַ֣ח מֵעִמָּ֑ךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֔ע וִֽיהִי־ נָ֛א פִּֽי־ שְׁנַ֥יִם בְּרוּחֲךָ֖ אֵלָֽי׃

KJV 10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

VULC 10 Qui respondit : Rem difficilem postulasti : attamen si videris me quando tollar a te, erit tibi quod petisti : si autem non videris, non erit.

WLC 10 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הִקְשִׁ֣יתָ לִשְׁא֑וֹל אִם־ תִּרְאֶ֨ה אֹתִ֜י לֻקָּ֤ח מֵֽאִתָּךְ֙ יְהִֽי־ לְךָ֣ כֵ֔ן וְאִם־ אַ֖יִן לֹ֥א יִהְיֶֽה׃

KJV 11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

VULC 11 Cumque pergerent, et incedentes sermocinarentur, ecce currus igneus, et equi ignei diviserunt utrumque : et ascendit Elias per turbinem in cælum.

WLC 11 וַיְהִ֗י הֵ֣מָּה הֹלְכִ֤ים הָלוֹךְ֙ וְדַבֵּ֔ר וְהִנֵּ֤ה רֶֽכֶב־ אֵשׁ֙ וְס֣וּסֵי אֵ֔שׁ וַיַּפְרִ֖דוּ בֵּ֣ין שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם וַיַּ֙עַל֙ אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ בַּֽסְעָרָ֖ה הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

KJV 12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

VULC 12 Eliseus autem videbat, et clamabat : Pater mi, pater mi, currus Israël, et auriga ejus. Et non vidit eum amplius : apprehenditque vestimenta sua, et scidit illa in duas partes.

WLC 12 וֶאֱלִישָׁ֣ע רֹאֶ֗ה וְה֤וּא מְצַעֵק֙ אָבִ֣י ׀ אָבִ֗י רֶ֤כֶב יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וּפָ֣רָשָׁ֔יו וְלֹ֥א רָאָ֖הוּ ע֑וֹד וַֽיַּחֲזֵק֙ בִּבְגָדָ֔יו וַיִּקְרָעֵ֖ם לִשְׁנַ֥יִם קְרָעִֽים׃

KJV 13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

VULC 13 Et levavit pallium Eliæ, quod ceciderat ei : reversusque stetit super ripam Jordanis,

WLC 13 וַיָּ֙רֶם֙ אֶת־ אַדֶּ֣רֶת אֵלִיָּ֔הוּ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָפְלָ֖ה מֵעָלָ֑יו וַיָּ֥שָׁב וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד עַל־ שְׂפַ֥ת הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

KJV 14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

VULC 14 et pallio Eliæ, quod ceciderat ei, percussit aquas, et non sunt divisæ : et dixit : Ubi est Deus Eliæ etiam nunc ? Percussitque aquas, et divisæ sunt huc atque illuc, et transiit Eliseus.

WLC 14 וַיִּקַּח֩ אֶת־ אַדֶּ֨רֶת אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ אֲשֶׁר־ נָפְלָ֤ה מֵֽעָלָיו֙ וַיַּכֶּ֣ה אֶת־ הַמַּ֔יִם וַיֹּאמַ֕ר אַיֵּ֕ה יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֵלִיָּ֑הוּ אַף־ ה֣וּא ׀ וַיַּכֶּ֣ה אֶת־ הַמַּ֗יִם וַיֵּֽחָצוּ֙ הֵ֣נָּה וָהֵ֔נָּה וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֖ר אֱלִישָֽׁע׃

KJV 15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

VULC 15 Videntes autem filii prophetarum qui erant in Jericho e contra, dixerunt : Requievit spiritus Eliæ super Eliseum. Et venientes in occursum ejus, adoraverunt eum proni in terram,

WLC 15 וַיִּרְאֻ֨הוּ בְנֵֽי־ הַנְּבִיאִ֤ים אֲשֶׁר־ בִּֽירִיחוֹ֙ מִנֶּ֔גֶד וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ נָ֛חָה ר֥וּחַ אֵלִיָּ֖הוּ עַל־ אֱלִישָׁ֑ע וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ לִקְרָאת֔וֹ וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ־ ל֖וֹ אָֽרְצָה׃

KJV 16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

VULC 16 dixeruntque illi : Ecce cum servis tuis sunt quinquaginta viri fortes qui possunt ire, et quærere dominum tuum, ne forte tulerit eum spiritus Domini, et projecerit eum in unum montium, aut in unam vallium. Qui ait : Nolite mittere.

WLC 16 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֡יו הִנֵּה־ נָ֣א יֵֽשׁ־ אֶת־ עֲבָדֶיךָ֩ חֲמִשִּׁ֨ים אֲנָשִׁ֜ים בְּנֵֽי־ חַ֗יִל יֵ֣לְכוּ נָא֮ וִיבַקְשׁ֣וּ אֶת־ אֲדֹנֶיךָ֒ פֶּן־ נְשָׂאוֹ֙ ר֣וּחַ יְהוָ֔ה וַיַּשְׁלִכֵ֙הוּ֙ בְּאַחַ֣ד הֶהָרִ֔ים א֖וֹ בְּאַחַ֣ת וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לֹ֥א תִשְׁלָֽחוּ׃

KJV 17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

VULC 17 Coëgeruntque eum donec acquiesceret, et diceret : Mittite. Et miserunt quinquaginta viros : qui cum quæsissent tribus diebus, non invenerunt.

WLC 17 וַיִּפְצְרוּ־ ב֥וֹ עַד־ בֹּ֖שׁ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁלָ֑חוּ וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים אִ֔ישׁ וַיְבַקְשׁ֥וּ שְׁלֹשָֽׁה־ יָמִ֖ים וְלֹ֥א מְצָאֻֽהוּ׃

KJV 18 And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?

VULC 18 Et reversi sunt ad eum : at ille habitabat in Jericho, et dixit eis : Numquid non dixi vobis : Nolite mittere ?

WLC 18 וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ אֵלָ֔יו וְה֖וּא יֹשֵׁ֣ב בִּירִיח֑וֹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם הֲלֽוֹא־ אָמַ֥רְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם אַל־ תֵּלֵֽכוּ׃

KJV 19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.

VULC 19 Dixerunt quoque viri civitatis ad Eliseum : Ecce habitatio civitatis hujus optima est, sicut tu ipse, domine, perspicis : sed aquæ pessimæ sunt, et terra sterilis.

WLC 19 וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָעִיר֙ אֶל־ אֱלִישָׁ֔ע הִנֵּה־ נָ֞א מוֹשַׁ֤ב הָעִיר֙ ט֔וֹב כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲדֹנִ֖י רֹאֶ֑ה וְהַמַּ֥יִם רָעִ֖ים וְהָאָ֥רֶץ מְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃

KJV 20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

VULC 20 At ille ait : Afferte mihi vas novum, et mittite in illud sal. Quod cum attulissent,

WLC 20 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר קְחוּ־ לִי֙ צְלֹחִ֣ית חֲדָשָׁ֔ה וְשִׂ֥ימוּ שָׁ֖ם מֶ֑לַח וַיִּקְח֖וּ אֵלָֽיו׃

KJV 21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

VULC 21 egressus ad fontem aquarum misit in illum sal, et ait : Hæc dicit Dominus : Sanavi aquas has, et non erit ultra in eis mors, neque sterilitas.

WLC 21 וַיֵּצֵא֙ אֶל־ מוֹצָ֣א הַמַּ֔יִם וַיַּשְׁלֶךְ־ שָׁ֖ם מֶ֑לַח וַיֹּ֜אמֶר כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה רִפִּ֙אתִי֙ לַמַּ֣יִם הָאֵ֔לֶּה לֹֽא־ יִהְיֶ֥ה מִשָּׁ֛ם ע֖וֹד מָ֥וֶת וּמְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃

KJV 22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

VULC 22 Sanatæ sunt ergo aquæ usque in diem hanc, juxta verbum Elisei quod locutus est.

WLC 22 וַיֵּרָפ֣וּ הַמַּ֔יִם עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּדְבַ֥ר אֱלִישָׁ֖ע אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽר׃

KJV 23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

VULC 23 Ascendit autem inde in Bethel : cumque ascenderet per viam, pueri parvi egressi sunt de civitate, et illudebant ei, dicentes : Ascende calve, ascende calve.

WLC 23 וַיַּ֥עַל מִשָּׁ֖ם בֵּֽית־ אֵ֑ל וְה֣וּא ׀ עֹלֶ֣ה בַדֶּ֗רֶךְ וּנְעָרִ֤ים קְטַנִּים֙ יָצְא֣וּ מִן־ הָעִ֔יר וַיִּתְקַלְּסוּ־ בוֹ֙ וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ ל֔וֹ עֲלֵ֥ה קֵרֵ֖חַ עֲלֵ֥ה קֵרֵֽחַ׃

KJV 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

VULC 24 Qui cum respexisset, vidit eos, et maledixit eis in nomine Domini : egressique sunt duo ursi de saltu, et laceraverunt ex eis quadraginta duos pueros.

WLC 24 וַיִּ֤פֶן אַֽחֲרָיו֙ וַיִּרְאֵ֔ם וַֽיְקַלְלֵ֖ם בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה וַתֵּצֶ֨אנָה שְׁתַּ֤יִם דֻּבִּים֙ מִן־ הַיַּ֔עַר וַתְּבַקַּ֣עְנָה מֵהֶ֔ם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁנֵ֖י יְלָדִֽים׃

KJV 25 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

VULC 25 Abiit autem inde in montem Carmeli, et inde reversus est in Samariam.

WLC 25 וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ מִשָּׁ֖ם אֶל־ הַ֣ר הַכַּרְמֶ֑ל וּמִשָּׁ֖ם שָׁ֥ב שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃
