BCC ² Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, non pas toutefois comme son père et sa mère ; car il fit disparaître la stèle de Baal, que son père avait faite.

KJV ² And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made.

WLC ² וַיַּעֲשֶׂ֤ה הָרַע֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה רַ֕ק לֹ֥א כְאָבִ֖יו וּכְאִמּ֑וֹ וַיָּ֙סַר֙ אֶת־ מַצְּבַ֣ת הַבַּ֔עַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה אָבִֽיו׃

BCC ³ Mais il s'attacha aux péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, qui avait fait pécher Israël, et il ne s'en détourna point.

KJV ³ Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

BCC ⁴ Mésa, roi de Moab, possédait des troupeaux, et il payait au roi d'Israël un tribut de cent mille agneaux et de cent mille béliers avec leurs toisons.

KJV ⁴ And Mesha king of Moab was a sheepmaster, and rendered unto the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambs, and an hundred thousand rams, with the wool.

KJV ⁵ But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

BCC ⁷ S'étant mis en marche, il envoya dire à Josaphat, roi de Juda : "le roi de Moab s'est révolté contre moi ; viendras-tu avec moi attaquer Moab ?" Josaphat répondit : "Je monterai ; il en sera de moi comme de toi, de mon peuple comme de ton peuple, de mes chevaux comme de tes chevaux."

KJV ⁷ And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and my horses as thy horses.

BCC ⁸ Et il dit : "par quel chemin monterons-nous ?" Joram répondit : "par le chemin du désert d'Édom."

KJV ⁸ And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way through the wilderness of Edom.

BCC ⁹ Le roi d'Israël, le roi de Juda et le roi d'Édom partirent. Après une marche de sept jours, il n'y eut point d'eau pour l'armée et pour les bêtes qui la suivaient.

KJV ⁹ So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.

BCC ¹⁰ Alors le roi d'Israël dit : "hélas ! Yahweh a appelé ces trois rois pour les livrer aux mains de Moab !"

KJV ¹⁰ And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!

BCC ¹¹ Mais Josaphat dit : "n'y a-t-il ici aucun prophète de Yahweh, par qui nous puissions consulter Yahweh ?" Un des serviteurs du roi d'Israël répondit et dit : "il y a ici Élisée, fils de Saphat, qui versait l'eau sur les mains d'Élie."

KJV ¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

BCC ¹² Et Josaphat dit : "la parole de Yahweh est avec lui." Le roi d'Israël, Josaphat, roi de Juda, et le roi d'Édom descendirent auprès de lui.

KJV ¹² And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

BCC ¹³ Élisée dit au roi d'Israël : "Que me veux-tu, toi ? Va vers les prophètes de ton père et vers les prophètes de ta mère." Et le roi d'Israël lui dit : "Non, car Yahweh a appelé ces trois rois pour les livrer entre les mains de Moab."

KJV ¹³ And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

BCC ¹⁴ Élisée dit : "Yahweh des armées, devant qui je me tiens, est vivant ! Si je n'avais égard à Josaphat, roi de Juda, je ne ferais aucune attention à toi et je ne te regarderais pas.

KJV ¹⁴ And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֗ע חַי־ יְהוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָמַ֣דְתִּי לְפָנָ֔יו כִּ֗י לוּלֵ֛י פְּנֵ֛י יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָ֖ה אֲנִ֣י נֹשֵׂ֑א אִם־ אַבִּ֥יט אֵלֶ֖יךָ וְאִם־ אֶרְאֶֽךָּ׃

BCC ¹⁵ Maintenant, amenez-moi un joueur de harpe." Et pendant que le joueur de harpe jouait, la main de Yahweh fut sur Élisée ;

KJV ¹⁵ But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

BCC ¹⁸ Mais cela est peu de chose aux yeux de Yahweh : il livrera Moab entre vos mains.

KJV ¹⁸ And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.

WLC ¹⁸ וְנָקַ֥ל זֹ֖את בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְנָתַ֥ן אֶת־ מוֹאָ֖ב בְּיֶדְכֶֽם׃

BCC ¹⁹ Vous frapperez toutes les villes fortes et toutes les villes de choix, vous abattrez tous les arbres fruitiers, vous boucherez toutes les sources d'eau, et vous désolerez, en les couvrant de pierres, tous les meilleurs champs."

KJV ¹⁹ And ye shall smite every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.

KJV ²⁰ And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

BCC ²¹ Cependant, tous les Moabites ayant appris que les rois montaient pour les attaquer, on convoqua tous les hommes capables de ceindre le baudrier, et même au-delà, et ils se postèrent sur la frontière.

KJV ²¹ And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armour, and upward, and stood in the border.

WLC ²¹ וְכָל־ מוֹאָב֙ שָֽׁמְע֔וּ כִּֽי־ עָל֥וּ הַמְּלָכִ֖ים לְהִלָּ֣חֶם בָּ֑ם וַיִּצָּעֲק֗וּ מִכֹּ֨ל חֹגֵ֤ר חֲגֹרָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה וַיַּעַמְד֖וּ עַֽל־ הַגְּבֽוּל׃

BCC ²² Ils se levèrent de bon matin et, quand le soleil brilla sur les eaux, les Moabites virent en face d'eux les eaux rouges comme du sang.

KJV ²² And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:

BCC ²³ Ils dirent : "c'est du sang ! Les rois sont détruits, ils se sont frappés les uns les autres ; et maintenant Moabites, au pillage !"

KJV ²³ And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.

WLC ²³ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ דָּ֣ם זֶ֔ה הָחֳרֵ֤ב נֶֽחֶרְבוּ֙ הַמְּלָכִ֔ים וַיַּכּ֖וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־ רֵעֵ֑הוּ וְעַתָּ֥ה לַשָּׁלָ֖ל מוֹאָֽב׃

BCC ²⁴ Et ils s'avancèrent vers le camp d'Israël. Mais les Israélites se levèrent et frappèrent Moab, qui prit la fuite devant eux. Pénétrant dans le pays, ils frappèrent Moab ;

KJV ²⁴ And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country.

WLC ²⁴ וַיָּבֹאוּ֮ אֶל־ מַחֲנֵ֣ה יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וַיָּקֻ֤מוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיַּכּ֣וּ אֶת־ מוֹאָ֔ב וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם בָ֔הּ וְהַכּ֖וֹת אֶת־ מוֹאָֽב׃

BCC ²⁵ Ils détruisirent les villes ; chacun jetant sa pierre dans tous les meilleurs champs, ils les en remplirent ; ils bouchèrent toutes les sources d'eau, ils abattirent tous les arbres fruitiers, au point que de Qir-Charoseth il ne resta que les pierres ; les frondeurs l'avaient entourée et battue.

KJV ²⁵ And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.

BCC ²⁶ Quand le roi de Moab vit qu'il avait le dessous dans le combat, il prit avec lui sept cents hommes, l'épée nue à la main, pour se frayer un passage jusqu'au roi d'Édom ; mais ils ne purent y réussir.

KJV ²⁶ And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.

WLC ²⁶ וַיַּרְא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֔ב כִּֽי־ חָזַ֥ק מִמֶּ֖נּוּ הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וַיִּקַּ֣ח א֠וֹתוֹ שְׁבַע־ מֵא֨וֹת אִ֜ישׁ שֹׁ֣לֵֽף חֶ֗רֶב לְהַבְקִ֛יעַ אֶל־ מֶ֥לֶךְ אֱד֖וֹם וְלֹ֥א יָכֹֽלוּ׃

BCC ²⁷ Prenant alors son fils premier-né, qui devait régner à sa place, il l'offrit en holocauste sur la muraille. Et une grande indignation s'empara d'Israël ; et ils s'éloignèrent du roi de Moab et retournèrent dans leur pays.

KJV ²⁷ Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

WLC ²⁷ וַיִּקַּח֩ אֶת־ בְּנ֨וֹ הַבְּכ֜וֹר אֲשֶׁר־ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ תַּחְתָּ֗יו וַיַּעֲלֵ֤הוּ עֹלָה֙ עַל־ הַ֣חֹמָ֔ה וַיְהִ֥י קֶצֶף־ גָּד֖וֹל עַל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּסְעוּ֙ מֵֽעָלָ֔יו וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ לָאָֽרֶץ׃
