KJV ¹¹ Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?

KJV ²⁶ And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.

WLC ²⁶ וַֽיְהִי֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עֹבֵ֖ר עַל־ הַחֹמָ֑ה וְאִשָּׁ֗ה צָעֲקָ֤ה אֵלָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הוֹשִׁ֖יעָה אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

BCC ²⁷ Il dit : "si Yahweh ne te sauve pas, avec quoi pourrais-je te sauver ? Avec le produit de l'aire ou du pressoir ?"

DRB ²⁷ Et il dit : Si l'Éternel ne te sauve pas, comment te sauverais-je ? Serait-ce au moyen de l'aire ou de la cuve ?

KJV ²⁷ And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?

WLC ²⁷ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַל־ יוֹשִׁעֵ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה מֵאַ֖יִן אֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֑ךְ הֲמִן־ הַגֹּ֖רֶן א֥וֹ מִן־ הַיָּֽקֶב׃

BCC ²⁸ Et le roi lui dit : "qu'as-tu ?" Elle dit : "cette femme m'a dit : Donne ton fils, nous le mangerons aujourd'hui, et demain nous mangerons le mien.

DRB ²⁸ Et le roi lui dit : Qu'as-tu ? Et elle dit : Cette femme-là m'a dit : Donne ton fils, et nous le mangerons aujourd'hui ; et demain nous mangerons mon fils.

KJV ²⁸ And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

BCC ²⁹ Nous avons donc fait cuire mon fils, et nous l'avons mangé. Et le jour suivant je lui ai dit : donne ton fils et nous le mangerons. Mais elle a caché son fils."

KJV ²⁹ So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

WLC ²⁹ וַנְּבַשֵּׁ֥ל אֶת־ בְּנִ֖י וַנֹּֽאכְלֵ֑הוּ וָאֹמַ֨ר אֵלֶ֜יהָ בַּיּ֣וֹם הָאַחֵ֗ר תְּנִ֤י אֶת־ בְּנֵךְ֙ וְנֹ֣אכְלֶ֔נּוּ וַתַּחְבִּ֖א אֶת־ בְּנָֽהּ׃

BCC ³⁰ Lorsque le roi entendit les paroles de cette femme, il déchira ses vêtements en passant sur la muraille ; et le peuple vit, et voici qu'il avait par dessous un sac sur son corps.

KJV ³⁰ And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.

WLC ³⁰ וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת־ דִּבְרֵ֤י הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ וַיִּקְרַ֣ע אֶת־ בְּגָדָ֔יו וְה֖וּא עֹבֵ֣ר עַל־ הַחֹמָ֑ה וַיַּ֣רְא הָעָ֔ם וְהִנֵּ֥ה הַשַּׂ֛ק עַל־ בְּשָׂר֖וֹ מִבָּֽיִת׃

BCC ³¹ Le roi dit : "que Dieu me traite dans toute sa rigueur, si la tête d'Élisée, fils de Saphat, reste aujourd'hui sur lui."

DRB ³¹ Et [le roi] dit : Ainsi Dieu me fasse, et ainsi il y ajoute, si la tête d'Élisée, fils de Shaphath, demeure sur lui aujourd'hui !

KJV ³¹ Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.

WLC ³¹ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כֹּֽה־ יַעֲשֶׂה־ לִּ֥י אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְכֹ֣ה יוֹסִ֑ף אִֽם־ יַעֲמֹ֞ד רֹ֣אשׁ אֱלִישָׁ֧ע בֶּן־ שָׁפָ֛ט עָלָ֖יו הַיּֽוֹם׃

BCC ³² Or, pendant qu'Élisée était assis dans sa maison et que les anciens étaient assis auprès de lui, le roi envoya quelqu'un d'auprès de lui. Mais avant que le messager fut arrivé auprès d'Élisée, celui-ci dit aux anciens : "savez-vous que ce fils d'assassin envoie quelqu'un pour m'ôter la tête ? Faites attention : quand le messager viendra, fermez la porte et pressez-le avec la porte. Mais le bruit des pas de son maître ne se fait-il pas entendre derrière lui ?..."

DRB ³² Et Élisée était assis dans sa maison, et les anciens étaient assis avec lui, et [le roi] envoya un homme devant lui. Avant que le messager arrivât auprès de lui, [Élisée] dit aux anciens : Voyez-vous que ce fils d'un meurtrier envoie pour m'ôter la tête ? Voyez quand le messager entrera ; fermez la porte, et repoussez-le avec la porte : n'est-ce pas le bruit des pieds de son maître après lui ?

KJV ³² But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?

WLC ³² וֶאֱלִישָׁע֙ יֹשֵׁ֣ב בְּבֵית֔וֹ וְהַזְּקֵנִ֖ים יֹשְׁבִ֣ים אִתּ֑וֹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח אִ֜ישׁ מִלְּפָנָ֗יו בְּטֶ֣רֶם יָבֹא֩ הַמַּלְאָ֨ךְ אֵלָ֜יו וְה֣וּא ׀ אָמַ֣ר אֶל־ הַזְּקֵנִ֗ים הַרְּאִיתֶם֙ כִּֽי־ שָׁלַ֞ח בֶּן־ הַֽמְרַצֵּ֤חַ הַזֶּה֙ לְהָסִ֣יר אֶת־ רֹאשִׁ֔י רְא֣וּ ׀ כְּבֹ֣א הַמַּלְאָ֗ךְ סִגְר֤וּ הַדֶּ֙לֶת֙ וּלְחַצְתֶּ֤ם אֹתוֹ֙ בַּדֶּ֔לֶת הֲל֗וֹא ק֛וֹל רַגְלֵ֥י אֲדֹנָ֖יו אַחֲרָֽיו׃

BCC ³³ Il leur parlait encore, et déjà le messager était descendu vers lui ; et il dit : "Voici, c'est un mal qui vient de Yahweh ; qu'ai-je à espérer encore de Yahweh ?"

DRB ³³ Il parlait encore avec eux, quand voici, le messager descendit vers lui. Et [le roi] dit : Voici, ce mal est de par l'Éternel ; pourquoi m'attendrais-je encore à l'Éternel ?

KJV ³³ And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?

WLC ³³ עוֹדֶ֙נּוּ֙ מְדַבֵּ֣ר עִמָּ֔ם וְהִנֵּ֥ה הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ יֹרֵ֣ד אֵלָ֑יו וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּֽה־ זֹ֤את הָֽרָעָה֙ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה מָֽה־ אוֹחִ֥יל לַיהוָ֖ה עֽוֹד׃
