WLC ¹ וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ בְנֵֽי־ הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים אֶל־ אֱלִישָׁ֑ע הִנֵּֽה־ נָ֣א הַמָּק֗וֹם אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֲנַ֜חְנוּ יֹשְׁבִ֥ים שָׁ֛ם לְפָנֶ֖יךָ צַ֥ר מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃

KJV ² Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.

LSG ² Allons jusqu'au Jourdain ; nous prendrons là chacun une poutre, et nous nous y ferons un lieu d'habitation. Élisée répondit: Allez.

MAR ² Allons-nous-en maintenant jusqu'au Jourdain, et nous prendrons de là chacun de nous une pièce de bois, et nous ferons là un lieu pour y demeurer ; et il répondit : Allez.

WLC ² נֵֽלְכָה־ נָּ֣א עַד־ הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן וְנִקְחָ֤ה מִשָּׁם֙ אִ֚ישׁ קוֹרָ֣ה אֶחָ֔ת וְנַעֲשֶׂה־ לָּ֥נוּ שָׁ֛ם מָק֖וֹם לָשֶׁ֣בֶת שָׁ֑ם וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לֵֽכוּ׃

KJV ³ And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.

LSG ³ Et l'un d'eux dit: Consens à venir avec tes serviteurs. Il répondit: J'irai.

MAR ³ Et l'un d'eux dit : Je te prie qu'il te plaise de venir avec tes serviteurs ; et il répondit : J'y irai.

WLC ³ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הָֽאֶחָ֔ד ה֥וֹאֶל נָ֖א וְלֵ֣ךְ אֶת־ עֲבָדֶ֑יךָ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֲנִ֥י אֵלֵֽךְ׃

KJV ⁴ So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

LSG ⁴ Il partit donc avec eux. Arrivés au Jourdain, ils coupèrent du bois.

MAR ⁴ Il s'en alla donc avec eux ; et ils allèrent au Jourdain, et ils coupèrent du bois.

WLC ⁴ וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ אִתָּ֑ם וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔נָה וַֽיִּגְזְר֖וּ הָעֵצִֽים׃

KJV ⁵ But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.

LSG ⁵ Et comme l'un d'eux abattait une poutre, le fer tomba dans l'eau. Il s'écria: Ah ! mon seigneur, il était emprunté !

MAR ⁵ Mais il arriva que comme l'un d'eux abattait une pièce de bois, le fer [de sa cognée] tomba dans l'eau ; et il s'écria, et dit : Hélas mon Seigneur ! encore est-il emprunté.

WLC ⁵ וַיְהִ֤י הָֽאֶחָד֙ מַפִּ֣יל הַקּוֹרָ֔ה וְאֶת־ הַבַּרְזֶ֖ל נָפַ֣ל אֶל־ הַמָּ֑יִם וַיִּצְעַ֥ק וַיֹּ֛אמֶר אֲהָ֥הּ אֲדֹנִ֖י וְה֥וּא שָׁאֽוּל׃

KJV ⁶ And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

LSG ⁶ L'homme de Dieu dit: Où est-il tombé ? Et il lui montra la place. Alors Élisée coupa un morceau de bois, le jeta à la même place, et fit surnager le fer.

MAR ⁶ Et l'homme de Dieu dit : Où est-il tombé ? et il lui montra l'endroit ; alors [Elisée] coupa un morceau de bois, et le jeta là, et il fit nager le fer par dessus.

KJV ⁷ Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

WLC ⁷ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הָ֣רֶם לָ֑ךְ וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח יָד֖וֹ וַיִּקָּחֵֽהוּ׃

KJV ⁸ Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.

LSG ⁸ Le roi de Syrie était en guerre avec Israël, et, dans un conseil qu'il tint avec ses serviteurs, il dit: Mon camp sera dans un tel lieu.

MAR ⁸ Or le Roi de Syrie faisant la guerre à Israël, tenait conseil avec ses serviteurs, et disait : En un tel et un tel lieu sera mon camp.

WLC ⁸ וּמֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם הָיָ֥ה נִלְחָ֖ם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּוָּעַץ֙ אֶל־ עֲבָדָ֣יו לֵאמֹ֗ר אֶל־ מְק֛וֹם פְּלֹנִ֥י אַלְמֹנִ֖י תַּחֲנֹתִֽי׃

KJV ⁹ And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.

LSG ⁹ Mais l'homme de Dieu fit dire au roi d'Israël: Garde-toi de passer dans ce lieu, car les Syriens y descendent.

MAR ⁹ Et l'homme de Dieu envoyait dire au Roi d'Israël : Donne-toi de garde de passer en ce lieu-là, car les Syriens y sont descendus.

WLC ⁹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים אֶל־ מֶ֤לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִשָּׁ֕מֶר מֵעֲבֹ֖ר הַמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּֽי־ שָׁ֖ם אֲרָ֥ם נְחִתִּֽים׃

KJV ¹⁰ And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.

LSG ¹⁰ Et le roi d'Israël envoya des gens, pour s'y tenir en observation, vers le lieu que lui avait mentionné et signalé l'homme de Dieu. Cela arriva non pas une fois ni deux fois.

MAR ¹⁰ Et le Roi d'Israël envoyait au lieu que lui disait l'homme de Dieu, et il y pourvoyait, et était sur ses gardes ; ce qu'il fit plusieurs fois.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶֽל־ הַמָּק֞וֹם אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָֽמַר־ ל֧וֹ אִישׁ־ הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים וְנִשְׁמַ֣ר שָׁ֑ם לֹ֥א אַחַ֖ת וְלֹ֥א שְׁתָּֽיִם׃

KJV ¹¹ Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?

LSG ¹¹ Le roi de Syrie en eut le coeur agité ; il appela ses serviteurs, et leur dit: Ne voulez-vous pas me déclarer lequel de nous est pour le roi d'Israël ?

MAR ¹¹ Et le coeur du Roi de Syrie en fut troublé, et il appela ses serviteurs, et leur dit : Ne me découvrirez-vous pas qui est celui des nôtres qui envoie vers le Roi d'Israël ?

WLC ¹¹ וַיִּסָּעֵר֙ לֵ֣ב מֶֽלֶךְ־ אֲרָ֔ם עַל־ הַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה וַיִּקְרָ֤א אֶל־ עֲבָדָיו֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם הֲלוֹא֙ תַּגִּ֣ידוּ לִ֔י מִ֥י מִשֶּׁלָּ֖נוּ אֶל־ מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ¹² And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.

LSG ¹² L'un de ses serviteurs répondit: Personne ! ô roi mon seigneur ; mais Élisée, le prophète, qui est en Israël, rapporte au roi d'Israël les paroles que tu prononces dans ta chambre à coucher.

MAR ¹² Et l'un de ses serviteurs lui dit : Il n'y en a point, ô Roi mon Seigneur ! mais Elisée le Prophète qui est en Israël, déclare au Roi d'Israël les paroles mêmes que tu dis dans la chambre où tu couches.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַחַ֣ד מֵֽעֲבָדָ֔יו ל֖וֹא אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ כִּֽי־ אֱלִישָׁ֤ע הַנָּבִיא֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יַגִּיד֙ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶת־ הַ֨דְּבָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר תְּדַבֵּ֖ר בַּחֲדַ֥ר מִשְׁכָּבֶֽךָ׃

KJV ¹³ And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

LSG ¹³ Et le roi dit: Allez et voyez où il est, et je le ferai prendre. On vint lui dire: Voici, il est à Dothan.

MAR ¹³ Et il dit : Allez, et voyez où il est, afin que j'envoie pour le prendre ; et on lui rapporta, en disant : [Le] voilà à Dothan.

KJV ¹⁴ Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיִּשְׁלַח־ שָׁ֛מָּה סוּסִ֥ים וְרֶ֖כֶב וְחַ֣יִל כָּבֵ֑ד וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ לַ֔יְלָה וַיַּקִּ֖פוּ עַל־ הָעִֽיר׃

KJV ¹⁵ And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

LSG ¹⁵ Le serviteur de l'homme de Dieu se leva de bon matin et sortit ; et voici, une troupe entourait la ville, avec des chevaux et des chars. Et le serviteur dit à l'homme de Dieu: Ah ! mon seigneur, comment ferons-nous ?

MAR ¹⁵ Or le serviteur de l'homme de Dieu se leva de grand matin, et sortit, et voici des troupes, et des chevaux, et des chariots qui environnaient la ville ; et le serviteur de l'homme de Dieu lui dit : Hélas mon Seigneur ! comment ferons-nous ?

WLC ¹⁵ וַ֠יַּשְׁכֵּם מְשָׁרֵ֨ת אִ֥ישׁ הָֽאֱלֹהִים֮ לָקוּם֒ וַיֵּצֵ֕א וְהִנֵּה־ חַ֛יִל סוֹבֵ֥ב אֶת־ הָעִ֖יר וְס֣וּס וָרָ֑כֶב וַיֹּ֨אמֶר נַעֲר֥וֹ אֵלָ֛יו אֲהָ֥הּ אֲדֹנִ֖י אֵיכָ֥ה נַֽעֲשֶֽׂה׃

KJV ¹⁶ And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

LSG ¹⁶ Il répondit: Ne crains point, car ceux qui sont avec nous sont en plus grand nombre que ceux qui sont avec eux.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אַל־ תִּירָ֑א כִּ֤י רַבִּים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתָּ֔נוּ מֵאֲשֶׁ֖ר אוֹתָֽם׃

KJV ¹⁷ And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

LSG ¹⁷ Élisée pria, et dit: Éternel, ouvre ses yeux, pour qu'il voie. Et l'Éternel ouvrit les yeux du serviteur, qui vit la montagne pleine de chevaux et de chars de feu autour d'Élisée.

MAR ¹⁷ Elisée donc pria, et dit : Je te prie, ô Eternel! ouvre ses yeux, afin qu'il voie ; et l'Eternel ouvrit les yeux du serviteur, et il vit, et voici la montagne était pleine de chevaux, et de chariots de feu autour d'Elisée.

KJV ¹⁸ And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

LSG ¹⁸ Les Syriens descendirent vers Élisée. Il adressa alors cette prière à l'Éternel: Daigne frapper d'aveuglement cette nation ! Et l'Éternel les frappa d'aveuglement, selon la parole d'Élisée.

MAR ¹⁸ Puis [les Syriens] descendirent vers Elisée, et il pria l'Eternel, et dit : Je te prie, frappe ces gens d'éblouissement ; et Dieu les frappa d'éblouissement, selon la parole d'Elisée.

WLC ¹⁸ וַיֵּרְדוּ֮ אֵלָיו֒ וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֨ל אֱלִישָׁ֤ע אֶל־ יְהוָה֙ וַיֹּאמַ֔ר הַךְ־ נָ֥א אֶת־ הַגּוֹי־ הַזֶּ֖ה בַּסַּנְוֵרִ֑ים וַיַּכֵּ֥ם בַּסַּנְוֵרִ֖ים כִּדְבַ֥ר אֱלִישָֽׁע׃

KJV ¹⁹ And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

LSG ¹⁹ Élisée leur dit: Ce n'est pas ici le chemin, et ce n'est pas ici la ville ; suivez-moi, et je vous conduirai vers l'homme que vous cherchez. Et il les conduisit à Samarie.

MAR ¹⁹ Et Elisée leur dit : Ce n'est pas ici le chemin, et ce n'est pas ici la ville ; venez après moi, et je vous mènerai vers l'homme que vous cherchez ; et il les mena à Samarie.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֜ם אֱלִישָׁ֗ע לֹ֣א זֶ֣ה הַדֶּרֶךְ֮ וְלֹ֣א זֹ֣ה הָעִיר֒ לְכ֣וּ אַחֲרַ֔י וְאוֹלִ֣יכָה אֶתְכֶ֔ם אֶל־ הָאִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תְּבַקֵּשׁ֑וּן וַיֹּ֥לֶךְ אוֹתָ֖ם שֹׁמְרֽוֹנָה׃

KJV ²⁰ And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

LSG ²⁰ Lorsqu'ils furent entrés dans Samarie, Élisée dit: Éternel, ouvre les yeux de ces gens, pour qu'ils voient ! Et l'Éternel ouvrit leurs yeux, et ils virent qu'ils étaient au milieu de Samarie.

MAR ²⁰ Et il arriva que sitôt qu'ils furent entrés dans Samarie, Elisée dit : Ô Eternel ouvre leurs yeux afin qu'ils voient. Et l'Eternel ouvrit leurs yeux, et ils virent, et voici ils étaient au milieu de Samarie.

WLC ²⁰ וַיְהִי֮ כְּבֹאָ֣ם שֹׁמְרוֹן֒ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֔ע יְהוָ֕ה פְּקַ֥ח אֶת־ עֵינֵֽי־ אֵ֖לֶּה וְיִרְא֑וּ וַיִּפְקַ֤ח יְהוָה֙ אֶת־ עֵ֣ינֵיהֶ֔ם וַיִּרְא֕וּ וְהִנֵּ֖ה בְּת֥וֹךְ שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

KJV ²¹ And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?

LSG ²¹ Le roi d'Israël, en les voyant, dit à Élisée: Frapperai-je, frapperai-je, mon père ?

MAR ²¹ Et dès que le Roi d'Israël les eut vus, il dit à Elisée : Frapperai-je, frapperai-je, mon père ?

WLC ²¹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל־ אֱלִישָׁ֔ע כִּרְאֹת֖וֹ אוֹתָ֑ם הַאַכֶּ֥ה אַכֶּ֖ה אָבִֽי׃

KJV ²² And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

LSG ²² Tu ne frapperas point, répondit Élisée ; est-ce que tu frappes ceux que tu fais prisonniers avec ton épée et avec ton arc ? Donne-leur du pain et de l'eau, afin qu'ils mangent et boivent ; et qu'ils s'en aillent ensuite vers leur maître.

MAR ²² Et il répondit : Tu ne frapperas point ; frapperais-tu de ton épée et de ton arc ceux que tu aurais pris prisonniers ? mets, [au contraire], du pain et de l'eau devant eux, et qu'ils mangent et boivent, et qu'après cela ils s'en aillent vers leur Seigneur.

WLC ²² וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א תַכֶּ֔ה הַאֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁבִ֛יתָ בְּחַרְבְּךָ֥ וּֽבְקַשְׁתְּךָ֖ אַתָּ֣ה מַכֶּ֑ה שִׂים֩ לֶ֨חֶם וָמַ֜יִם לִפְנֵיהֶ֗ם וְיֹֽאכְלוּ֙ וְיִשְׁתּ֔וּ וְיֵלְכ֖וּ אֶל־ אֲדֹנֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ²³ And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

LSG ²³ Le roi d'Israël leur fit servir un grand repas, et ils mangèrent et burent ; puis il les renvoya, et ils s'en allèrent vers leur maître. Et les troupes des Syriens ne revinrent plus sur le territoire d'Israël.

MAR ²³ Et il leur fit grand'chère, et ils mangèrent et burent ; puis il les laissa aller, et ils s'en allèrent vers leur Seigneur. Depuis ce temps-là les partis de Syrie ne revinrent plus au pays d'Israël.

WLC ²³ וַיִּכְרֶ֨ה לָהֶ֜ם כֵּרָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֗ה וַיֹּֽאכְלוּ֙ וַיִּשְׁתּ֔וּ וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵ֔ם וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ אֶל־ אֲדֹֽנֵיהֶ֑ם וְלֹֽא־ יָ֤סְפוּ עוֹד֙ גְּדוּדֵ֣י אֲרָ֔ם לָב֖וֹא בְּאֶ֥רֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ²⁴ And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.

KJV ²⁵ And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

LSG ²⁵ Il y eut une grande famine dans Samarie ; et ils la serrèrent tellement qu'une tête d'âne valait quatre-vingts sicles d'argent, et le quart d'un kab de fiente de pigeon cinq sicles d'argent.

MAR ²⁵ Et il y eut une grande famine dans Samarie ; car voilà, ils l'assiégèrent si longtemps, que la tête d'un âne se vendait quatre-vingts [pièces] d'argent, et la quatrième partie d'un kad de fiente de pigeons, cinq [pièces] d'argent.

WLC ²⁵ וַיְהִ֨י רָעָ֤ב גָּדוֹל֙ בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וְהִנֵּ֖ה צָרִ֣ים עָלֶ֑יהָ עַ֣ד הֱי֤וֹת רֹאשׁ־ חֲמוֹר֙ בִּשְׁמֹנִ֣ים כֶּ֔סֶף וְרֹ֛בַע הַקַּ֥ב בַּחֲמִשָּׁה־ כָֽסֶף׃

KJV ²⁶ And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.

LSG ²⁶ Et comme le roi passait sur la muraille, une femme lui cria: Sauve-moi, ô roi, mon seigneur !

MAR ²⁶ Or il arriva que comme le Roi d'Israël passait sur la muraille, une femme lui cria, en disant : Ô Roi mon Seigneur ! délivre-moi.

WLC ²⁶ וַֽיְהִי֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עֹבֵ֖ר עַל־ הַחֹמָ֑ה וְאִשָּׁ֗ה צָעֲקָ֤ה אֵלָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הוֹשִׁ֖יעָה אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

KJV ²⁷ And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?

LSG ²⁷ Il répondit: Si l'Éternel ne te sauve pas, avec quoi te sauverais-je ? avec le produit de l'aire ou du pressoir ?

MAR ²⁷ Et il répondit : Puisque l'Eternel ne te délivre point, comment te délivrerais-je ? Serait-ce de l'aire ou de la cuve ?

WLC ²⁷ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַל־ יוֹשִׁעֵ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה מֵאַ֖יִן אֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֑ךְ הֲמִן־ הַגֹּ֖רֶן א֥וֹ מִן־ הַיָּֽקֶב׃

KJV ²⁸ And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

LSG ²⁸ Et le roi lui dit: Qu'as-tu ? Elle répondit: Cette femme-là m'a dit: Donne ton fils ! nous le mangerons aujourd'hui, et demain nous mangerons mon fils.

MAR ²⁸ Il lui dit encore : Qu'as-tu ? Et elle répondit : Cette femme-là m'a dit : Donne ton fils, et mangeons-le aujourd'hui, et nous mangerons mon fils demain.

WLC ²⁸ וַיֹּֽאמֶר־ לָ֥הּ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ מַה־ לָּ֑ךְ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר הָאִשָּׁ֨ה הַזֹּ֜את אָמְרָ֣ה אֵלַ֗י תְּנִ֤י אֶת־ בְּנֵךְ֙ וְנֹאכְלֶ֣נּוּ הַיּ֔וֹם וְאֶת־ בְּנִ֖י נֹאכַ֥ל מָחָֽר׃

KJV ²⁹ So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

LSG ²⁹ Nous avons fait cuire mon fils, et nous l'avons mangé. Et le jour suivant, je lui ai dit: Donne ton fils, et nous le mangerons. Mais elle a caché son fils.

MAR ²⁹ Ainsi nous avons bouilli mon fils, et l'avons mangé, et le jour d'après je lui ai dit : Donne ton fils, et mangeons-le ; mais elle a caché son fils.

WLC ²⁹ וַנְּבַשֵּׁ֥ל אֶת־ בְּנִ֖י וַנֹּֽאכְלֵ֑הוּ וָאֹמַ֨ר אֵלֶ֜יהָ בַּיּ֣וֹם הָאַחֵ֗ר תְּנִ֤י אֶת־ בְּנֵךְ֙ וְנֹ֣אכְלֶ֔נּוּ וַתַּחְבִּ֖א אֶת־ בְּנָֽהּ׃

KJV ³⁰ And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.

LSG ³⁰ Lorsque le roi entendit les paroles de cette femme, il déchira ses vêtements, en passant sur la muraille ; et le peuple vit qu'il avait en dedans un sac sur son corps.

MAR ³⁰ Or dès que le Roi eut entendu les paroles de cette femme, il déchira ses vêtements, (or il passait alors sur la muraille) ce que le peuple vit, et voilà il avait un sac sur sa chair en dedans.

WLC ³⁰ וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת־ דִּבְרֵ֤י הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ וַיִּקְרַ֣ע אֶת־ בְּגָדָ֔יו וְה֖וּא עֹבֵ֣ר עַל־ הַחֹמָ֑ה וַיַּ֣רְא הָעָ֔ם וְהִנֵּ֥ה הַשַּׂ֛ק עַל־ בְּשָׂר֖וֹ מִבָּֽיִת׃

KJV ³¹ Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.

LSG ³¹ Le roi dit: Que Dieu me punisse dans toute sa rigueur, si la tête d'Élisée, fils de Schaphath, reste aujourd'hui sur lui !

MAR ³¹ C'est pourquoi [le Roi] dit : Dieu me fasse ainsi, et ainsi il y ajoute, si aujourd'hui la tête d'Elisée fils de Saphat demeure sur lui.

WLC ³¹ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כֹּֽה־ יַעֲשֶׂה־ לִּ֥י אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְכֹ֣ה יוֹסִ֑ף אִֽם־ יַעֲמֹ֞ד רֹ֣אשׁ אֱלִישָׁ֧ע בֶּן־ שָׁפָ֛ט עָלָ֖יו הַיּֽוֹם׃

KJV ³² But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?

LSG ³² Or Élisée était dans sa maison, et les anciens étaient assis auprès de lui. Le roi envoya quelqu'un devant lui. Mais avant que le messager soit arrivé, Élisée dit aux anciens: Voyez-vous que ce fils d'assassin envoie quelqu'un pour m'ôter la tête ? Écoutez ! quand le messager viendra, fermez la porte, et repoussez-le avec la porte: le bruit des pas de son maître ne se fait-il pas entendre derrière lui ?

MAR ³² Et Elisée étant assis dans sa maison, et les Anciens étant assis avec lui, le Roi envoya un homme de sa part ; mais avant que le messager fût venu à [Elisée], [Elisée] dit aux Anciens : Ne voyez-vous pas que le fils de ce meurtrier-là a envoyé ici pour m'ôter la tête ? Prenez garde, sitôt que le messager sera entré, de fermer la porte, et de l'arrêter à la porte ; [n'entendez-vous] pas le bruit des pieds de son maître qui vient après lui ?

WLC ³² וֶאֱלִישָׁע֙ יֹשֵׁ֣ב בְּבֵית֔וֹ וְהַזְּקֵנִ֖ים יֹשְׁבִ֣ים אִתּ֑וֹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח אִ֜ישׁ מִלְּפָנָ֗יו בְּטֶ֣רֶם יָבֹא֩ הַמַּלְאָ֨ךְ אֵלָ֜יו וְה֣וּא ׀ אָמַ֣ר אֶל־ הַזְּקֵנִ֗ים הַרְּאִיתֶם֙ כִּֽי־ שָׁלַ֞ח בֶּן־ הַֽמְרַצֵּ֤חַ הַזֶּה֙ לְהָסִ֣יר אֶת־ רֹאשִׁ֔י רְא֣וּ ׀ כְּבֹ֣א הַמַּלְאָ֗ךְ סִגְר֤וּ הַדֶּ֙לֶת֙ וּלְחַצְתֶּ֤ם אֹתוֹ֙ בַּדֶּ֔לֶת הֲל֗וֹא ק֛וֹל רַגְלֵ֥י אֲדֹנָ֖יו אַחֲרָֽיו׃

KJV ³³ And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?

LSG ³³ Il leur parlait encore, et déjà le messager était descendu vers lui, et disait: Voici, ce mal vient de l'Éternel ; qu'ai-je à espérer encore de l'Éternel ?

MAR ³³ Et comme il parlait encore avec eux, voici le messager descendit vers lui, et [le Roi] dit : Voici, ce mal vient de l'Eternel, qu'attendrai-je plus de l'Eternel ?

WLC ³³ עוֹדֶ֙נּוּ֙ מְדַבֵּ֣ר עִמָּ֔ם וְהִנֵּ֥ה הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ יֹרֵ֣ד אֵלָ֑יו וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּֽה־ זֹ֤את הָֽרָעָה֙ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה מָֽה־ אוֹחִ֥יל לַיהוָ֖ה עֽוֹד׃
