KJV ¹ And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

S21 ¹ Après cela, voici ce qui arriva. Absalom, le fils de David, avait une sœur qui était belle et qui s'appelait Tamar. Or Amnon, le fils de David, tomba amoureux d'elle.

WLC ¹ וַיְהִ֣י אַֽחֲרֵי־ כֵ֗ן וּלְאַבְשָׁל֧וֹם בֶּן־ דָּוִ֛ד אָח֥וֹת יָפָ֖ה וּשְׁמָ֣הּ תָּמָ֑ר וַיֶּאֱהָבֶ֖הָ אַמְנ֥וֹן בֶּן־ דָּוִֽד׃

KJV ² And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her.

S21 ² Amnon était anxieux jusqu'à se rendre malade à cause de sa sœur Tamar. En effet, elle était vierge et il lui paraissait difficile de faire la moindre tentative auprès d'elle.

WLC ² וַיֵּ֨צֶר לְאַמְנ֜וֹן לְהִתְחַלּ֗וֹת בַּֽעֲבוּר֙ תָּמָ֣ר אֲחֹת֔וֹ כִּ֥י בְתוּלָ֖ה הִ֑יא וַיִּפָּלֵא֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י אַמְנ֔וֹן לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לָ֖הּ מְאֽוּמָה׃

KJV ³ But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.

S21 ³ Amnon avait un ami du nom de Jonadab. C'était un fils de Shimea, le frère de David, et un homme très rusé.

WLC ³ וּלְאַמְנ֣וֹן רֵ֗עַ וּשְׁמוֹ֙ יֽוֹנָדָ֔ב בֶּן־ שִׁמְעָ֖ה אֲחִ֣י דָוִ֑ד וְי֣וֹנָדָ֔ב אִ֥ישׁ חָכָ֖ם מְאֹֽד׃

KJV ⁴ And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

S21 ⁴ Il lui demanda: «Pourquoi deviens-tu donc chaque matin plus abattu, toi qui es un fils de roi? Ne veux-tu pas me le dire?» Amnon lui répondit: «J'aime Tamar, la sœur de mon frère Absalom.»

WLC ⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ מַדּ֣וּעַ אַ֠תָּה כָּ֣כָה דַּ֤ל בֶּן־ הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ בַּבֹּ֣קֶר בַּבֹּ֔קֶר הֲל֖וֹא תַּגִּ֣יד לִ֑י וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ אַמְנ֔וֹן אֶת־ תָּמָ֗ר אֲח֛וֹת אַבְשָׁלֹ֥ם אָחִ֖י אֲנִ֥י אֹהֵֽב׃

KJV ⁵ And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.

S21 ⁵ Jonadab lui dit: «Mets-toi au lit et fais le malade. Quand ton père viendra te voir, tu lui diras: ‘Permets à ma sœur Tamar de venir me donner à manger. Qu'elle prépare un plat sous mes yeux, afin que je le voie, et qu'elle me serve elle-même à manger.'»

KJV ⁶ So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.

S21 ⁶ Amnon se coucha et fit le malade. Le roi vint le voir et Amnon lui dit: «Que ma sœur Tamar vienne donc faire deux gâteaux sous mes yeux et qu'elle me les serve elle-même.»

KJV ⁷ Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him meat.

S21 ⁷ David fit dire à Tamar dans ses appartements: «Va donc chez ton frère Amnon et prépare-lui un plat.»

WLC ⁷ וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח דָּוִ֛ד אֶל־ תָּמָ֖ר הַבַּ֣יְתָה לֵאמֹ֑ר לְכִ֣י נָ֗א בֵּ֚ית אַמְנ֣וֹן אָחִ֔יךְ וַעֲשִׂי־ ל֖וֹ הַבִּרְיָֽה׃

KJV ⁸ So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.

S21 ⁸ Tamar alla chez son frère Amnon, qui était couché. Elle prit de la pâte, la pétrit, prépara des gâteaux devant lui et les fit cuire.

KJV ⁹ And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.

S21 ⁹ Elle prit ensuite la poêle et les déposa devant lui, mais Amnon refusa de manger. Il ordonna de faire sortir tout le monde, et tout le monde sortit de chez lui.

WLC ⁹ וַתִּקַּ֤ח אֶת־ הַמַּשְׂרֵת֙ וַתִּצֹ֣ק לְפָנָ֔יו וַיְמָאֵ֖ן לֶאֱכ֑וֹל וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אַמְנ֗וֹן הוֹצִ֤יאוּ כָל־ אִישׁ֙ מֵֽעָלַ֔י וַיֵּצְא֥וּ כָל־ אִ֖ישׁ מֵעָלָֽיו׃

KJV ¹⁰ And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

S21 ¹⁰ Alors Amnon dit à Tamar: «Apporte le plat dans la chambre et sers-moi.» Tamar prit les gâteaux qu'elle avait faits et les porta à son frère Amnon dans la chambre.

KJV ¹¹ And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.

S21 ¹¹ Comme elle les lui présentait à manger, il l'attrapa et lui dit: «Viens, couche avec moi, ma sœur.»

WLC ¹¹ וַתַּגֵּ֥שׁ אֵלָ֖יו לֶֽאֱכֹ֑ל וַיַּֽחֲזֶק־ בָּהּ֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָ֔הּ בּ֛וֹאִי שִׁכְבִ֥י עִמִּ֖י אֲחוֹתִֽי׃

KJV ¹² And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

S21 ¹² Elle lui répondit: «Non, mon frère, ne me déshonore pas, car on n'agit pas de cette manière en Israël. Ne commets pas cet acte odieux!

WLC ¹² וַתֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ אַל־ אָחִי֙ אַל־ תְּעַנֵּ֔נִי כִּ֛י לֹא־ יֵֽעָשֶׂ֥ה כֵ֖ן בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אַֽל־ תַּעֲשֵׂ֖ה אֶת־ הַנְּבָלָ֥ה הַזֹּֽאת׃

KJV ¹³ And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.

S21 ¹³ Où irais-je, moi, traîner ma honte? Et toi, tu serais comme l'un des plus ignobles en Israël. Maintenant, parle donc au roi et il ne m'empêchera pas d'être à toi.»

WLC ¹³ וַאֲנִ֗י אָ֤נָה אוֹלִיךְ֙ אֶת־ חֶרְפָּתִ֔י וְאַתָּ֗ה תִּהְיֶ֛ה כְּאַחַ֥ד הַנְּבָלִ֖ים בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְעַתָּה֙ דַּבֶּר־ נָ֣א אֶל־ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כִּ֛י לֹ֥א יִמְנָעֵ֖נִי מִמֶּֽךָּ׃

KJV ¹⁴ Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

S21 ¹⁴ Mais il ne voulut pas l'écouter. Il se montra plus fort qu'elle et il la viola, il coucha avec elle.

WLC ¹⁴ וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה לִשְׁמֹ֣עַ בְּקוֹלָ֑הּ וַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק מִמֶּ֙נָּה֙ וַיְעַנֶּ֔הָ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֖ב אֹתָֽהּ׃

KJV ¹⁵ Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

S21 ¹⁵ Puis Amnon éprouva de la haine envers elle, une haine plus forte encore que ne l'avait été son amour, et il lui dit: «Lève-toi, va-t'en!»

WLC ¹⁵ וַיִּשְׂנָאֶ֣הָ אַמְנ֗וֹן שִׂנְאָה֙ גְּדוֹלָ֣ה מְאֹ֔ד כִּ֣י גְדוֹלָ֗ה הַשִּׂנְאָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שְׂנֵאָ֔הּ מֵאַהֲבָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֲהֵבָ֑הּ וַֽיֹּאמֶר־ לָ֥הּ אַמְנ֖וֹן ק֥וּמִי לֵֽכִי׃

KJV ¹⁶ And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.

S21 ¹⁶ Elle lui répondit: «Non! N'augmente pas, en me chassant, le mal que tu m'as déjà fait.»

WLC ¹⁶ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ אַל־ אוֹדֹ֞ת הָרָעָ֤ה הַגְּדוֹלָה֙ הַזֹּ֔את מֵאַחֶ֛רֶת אֲשֶׁר־ עָשִׂ֥יתָ עִמִּ֖י לְשַׁלְּחֵ֑נִי וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה לִשְׁמֹ֥עַֽ לָֽהּ׃

KJV ¹⁷ Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.

S21 ¹⁷ Il refusa de l'écouter. Appelant le garçon qui était à son service, il dit: «Qu'on fasse partir cette femme de chez moi, qu'on la mette dehors! Et ferme la porte derrière elle!»

WLC ¹⁷ וַיִּקְרָ֗א אֶֽת־ נַעֲרוֹ֙ מְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר שִׁלְחוּ־ נָ֥א אֶת־ זֹ֛את מֵעָלַ֖י הַח֑וּצָה וּנְעֹ֥ל הַדֶּ֖לֶת אַחֲרֶֽיהָ׃

KJV ¹⁸ And she had a garment of divers colours upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

S21 ¹⁸ Elle portait une robe de plusieurs couleurs. C'était en effet la tenue que portaient les filles du roi aussi longtemps qu'elles étaient vierges. Le serviteur d'Amnon la fit sortir et ferma la porte derrière elle.

WLC ¹⁸ וְעָלֶ֙יהָ֙ כְּתֹ֣נֶת פַּסִּ֔ים כִּי֩ כֵ֨ן תִּלְבַּ֧שְׁןָ בְנוֹת־ הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ הַבְּתוּלֹ֖ת מְעִילִ֑ים וַיֹּצֵ֨א אוֹתָ֤הּ מְשָֽׁרְתוֹ֙ הַח֔וּץ וְנָעַ֥ל הַדֶּ֖לֶת אַחֲרֶֽיהָ׃

KJV ¹⁹ And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying.

S21 ¹⁹ Tamar déversa de la cendre sur sa tête et déchira sa robe multicolore. Elle mit la main sur sa tête et s'en alla en poussant des cris.

WLC ¹⁹ וַתִּקַּ֨ח תָּמָ֥ר אֵ֙פֶר֙ עַל־ רֹאשָׁ֔הּ וּכְתֹ֧נֶת הַפַּסִּ֛ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָלֶ֖יהָ קָרָ֑עָה וַתָּ֤שֶׂם יָדָהּ֙ עַל־ רֹאשָׁ֔הּ וַתֵּ֥לֶךְ הָל֖וֹךְ וְזָעָֽקָה׃

KJV ²⁰ And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.

S21 ²⁰ Son frère Absalom lui dit: «Est-ce que ton frère Amnon a couché avec toi? Maintenant, ma sœur, garde le silence, car c'est ton frère. Ne prends pas cette affaire trop à cœur.» Et Tamar s'installa, accablée, chez son frère Absalom.

WLC ²⁰ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלֶ֜יהָ אַבְשָׁל֣וֹם אָחִ֗יהָ הַאֲמִינ֣וֹן אָחִיךְ֮ הָיָ֣ה עִמָּךְ֒ וְעַתָּ֞ה אֲחוֹתִ֤י הַחֲרִ֙ישִׁי֙ אָחִ֣יךְ ה֔וּא אַל־ תָּשִׁ֥יתִי אֶת־ לִבֵּ֖ךְ לַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וַתֵּ֤שֶׁב תָּמָר֙ וְשֹׁ֣מֵמָ֔ה בֵּ֖ית אַבְשָׁל֥וֹם אָחִֽיהָ׃

KJV ²¹ But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.

S21 ²¹ Le roi David apprit tout ce qui s'était passé et il en fut très irrité.

WLC ²¹ וְהַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֔ד שָׁמַ֕ע אֵ֥ת כָּל־ הַדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה וַיִּ֥חַר ל֖וֹ מְאֹֽד׃

KJV ²² And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

S21 ²² Quant à Absalom, il ne parla ni en bien ni en mal à Amnon, mais il éprouva de la haine pour lui parce qu'il avait déshonoré sa sœur Tamar.

WLC ²² וְלֹֽא־ דִבֶּ֧ר אַבְשָׁל֛וֹם עִם־ אַמְנ֖וֹן לְמֵרָ֣ע וְעַד־ ט֑וֹב כִּֽי־ שָׂנֵ֤א אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ אֶת־ אַמְנ֔וֹן עַל־ דְּבַר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עִנָּ֔ה אֵ֖ת תָּמָ֥ר אֲחֹתֽוֹ׃

KJV ²³ And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.

S21 ²³ Deux ans après, comme il avait les tondeurs de moutons chez lui à Baal-Hatsor, près d'Ephraïm, Absalom invita tous les fils du roi.

WLC ²³ וַֽיְהִי֙ לִשְׁנָתַ֣יִם יָמִ֔ים וַיִּהְי֤וּ גֹֽזְזִים֙ לְאַבְשָׁל֔וֹם בְּבַ֥עַל חָצ֖וֹר אֲשֶׁ֣ר עִם־ אֶפְרָ֑יִם וַיִּקְרָ֥א אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם לְכָל־ בְּנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

KJV ²⁴ And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.

S21 ²⁴ Il alla trouver le roi et dit: «Ton serviteur a les tondeurs de moutons chez lui. Que le roi et ses serviteurs viennent chez ton serviteur.»

WLC ²⁴ וַיָּבֹ֤א אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ אֶל־ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּה־ נָ֥א גֹזְזִ֖ים לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ יֵֽלֶךְ־ נָ֥א הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וַעֲבָדָ֖יו עִם־ עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃

KJV ²⁵ And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.

S21 ²⁵ Le roi dit à Absalom: «Non, mon fils! Nous n'irons pas tous chez toi, nous risquerions d'être une charge pour toi.» Absalom insista auprès de lui, mais le roi ne voulut pas y aller. Toutefois, il le bénit.

WLC ²⁵ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶל־ אַבְשָׁל֗וֹם אַל־ בְּנִי֙ אַל־ נָ֤א נֵלֵךְ֙ כֻּלָּ֔נוּ וְלֹ֥א נִכְבַּ֖ד עָלֶ֑יךָ וַיִּפְרָץ־ בּ֛וֹ וְלֹֽא־ אָבָ֥ה לָלֶ֖כֶת וַֽיְבָרֲכֵֽהוּ׃

KJV ²⁶ Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?

S21 ²⁶ Absalom dit: «Permets du moins à mon frère Amnon de venir avec nous.» Le roi lui répondit: «Pourquoi irait-il chez toi?»

KJV ²⁷ But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

S21 ²⁷ Sur l'insistance d'Absalom, le roi laissa Amnon et tous ses fils partir avec lui.

WLC ²⁷ וַיִּפְרָץ־ בּ֖וֹ אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח אִתּוֹ֙ אֶת־ אַמְנ֔וֹן וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־ בְּנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

KJV ²⁸ Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

S21 ²⁸ Absalom donna cet ordre à ses serviteurs: «Faites bien attention au moment où le cœur d'Amnon sera réjoui par le vin et où je vous dirai de le frapper! Alors faites-le mourir sans crainte! N'est-ce pas moi qui vous l'ordonne? Montrez-vous forts et pleins de courage!»

WLC ²⁸ וַיְצַו֩ אַבְשָׁל֨וֹם אֶת־ נְעָרָ֜יו לֵאמֹ֗ר רְא֣וּ נָ֠א כְּט֨וֹב לֵב־ אַמְנ֤וֹן בַּיַּ֙יִן֙ וְאָמַרְתִּ֣י אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם הַכּ֧וּ אֶת־ אַמְנ֛וֹן וַהֲמִתֶּ֥ם אֹת֖וֹ אַל־ תִּירָ֑אוּ הֲל֗וֹא כִּ֤י אָֽנֹכִי֙ צִוִּ֣יתִי אֶתְכֶ֔ם חִזְק֖וּ וִהְי֥וּ לִבְנֵי־ חָֽיִל׃

KJV ²⁹ And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled.

S21 ²⁹ Les serviteurs d'Absalom traitèrent Amnon comme Absalom l'avait ordonné. Tous les fils du roi se levèrent alors, montèrent chacun sur son mulet et s'enfuirent.

WLC ²⁹ וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֞וּ נַעֲרֵ֤י אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ לְאַמְנ֔וֹן כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּ֖ה אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם וַיָּקֻ֣מוּ ׀ כָּל־ בְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ וַֽיִּרְכְּב֛וּ אִ֥ישׁ עַל־ פִּרְדּ֖וֹ וַיָּנֻֽסוּ׃

KJV ³⁰ And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

S21 ³⁰ Ils étaient encore en chemin quand le bruit parvint à David qu'Absalom avait tué tous les fils du roi et qu'il n'y avait pas un seul survivant.

WLC ³⁰ וַֽיְהִי֙ הֵ֣מָּה בַדֶּ֔רֶךְ וְהַשְּׁמֻעָ֣ה בָ֔אָה אֶל־ דָּוִ֖ד לֵאמֹ֑ר הִכָּ֤ה אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ אֶת־ כָּל־ בְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְלֹֽא־ נוֹתַ֥ר מֵהֶ֖ם אֶחָֽד׃

KJV ³¹ Then the king arose, and tare his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.

S21 ³¹ Le roi se leva, déchira ses habits et se coucha par terre. Tous ses serviteurs se tenaient là, les habits déchirés.

WLC ³¹ וַיָּ֧קָם הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וַיִּקְרַ֥ע אֶת־ בְּגָדָ֖יו וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב אָ֑רְצָה וְכָל־ עֲבָדָ֥יו נִצָּבִ֖ים קְרֻעֵ֥י בְגָדִֽים׃

KJV ³² And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

S21 ³² Jonadab, fils de Shimea, le frère de David, prit la parole. Il dit: «Que mon seigneur ne pense pas que ce sont tous les jeunes gens, tous les fils du roi, qu'on a fait mourir. En effet, seul Amnon est mort. Absalom avait pris cette décision le jour où Amnon avait violé sa sœur Tamar.

WLC ³² וַיַּ֡עַן יוֹנָדָ֣ב ׀ בֶּן־ שִׁמְעָ֨ה אֲחִֽי־ דָוִ֜ד וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אַל־ יֹאמַ֤ר אֲדֹנִי֙ אֵ֣ת כָּל־ הַנְּעָרִ֤ים בְּנֵֽי־ הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הֵמִ֔יתוּ כִּֽי־ אַמְנ֥וֹן לְבַדּ֖וֹ מֵ֑ת כִּֽי־ עַל־ פִּ֤י אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ הָיְתָ֣ה שׂוּמָ֔ה מִיּוֹם֙ עַנֹּת֔וֹ אֵ֖ת תָּמָ֥ר אֲחֹתֽוֹ׃

KJV ³³ Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.

S21 ³³ Que le roi mon seigneur ne se tourmente donc pas à l'idée que tous ses fils seraient morts. En effet, seul Amnon est mort.»

WLC ³³ וְעַתָּ֡ה אַל־ יָשֵׂם֩ אֲדֹנִ֨י הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ אֶל־ לִבּוֹ֙ דָּבָ֣ר לֵאמֹ֔ר כָּל־ בְּנֵ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ מֵ֑תוּ כִּֽי־ אִם־ אַמְנ֥וֹן לְבַדּ֖וֹ מֵֽת׃

KJV ³⁴ But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.

S21 ³⁴ Absalom prit la fuite. Or le jeune homme placé en sentinelle leva les yeux et regarda. Il vit une grande troupe venir par le chemin qui était derrière lui, du côté de la montagne.

WLC ³⁴ וַיִּבְרַ֖ח אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם וַיִּשָּׂ֞א הַנַּ֤עַר הַצֹּפֶה֙ אֶת־ וַיַּ֗רְא וְהִנֵּ֨ה עַם־ רַ֜ב הֹלְכִ֥ים מִדֶּ֛רֶךְ אַחֲרָ֖יו מִצַּ֥ד הָהָֽר׃

KJV ³⁵ And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king's sons come: as thy servant said, so it is.

S21 ³⁵ Jonadab dit au roi: «Voici les fils du roi qui arrivent! Cela confirme ce que disait ton serviteur.»

WLC ³⁵ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יֽוֹנָדָב֙ אֶל־ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ הִנֵּ֥ה בְנֵֽי־ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בָּ֑אוּ כִּדְבַ֥ר עַבְדְּךָ֖ כֵּ֥ן הָיָֽה׃

KJV ³⁶ And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.

S21 ³⁶ Il finissait de parler quand les fils du roi arrivèrent. Ils se mirent à pleurer tout haut; le roi et tous ses serviteurs pleurèrent eux aussi abondamment.

WLC ³⁶ וַיְהִ֣י ׀ כְּכַלֹּת֣וֹ לְדַבֵּ֗ר וְהִנֵּ֤ה בְנֵֽי־ הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ בָּ֔אוּ וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ קוֹלָ֖ם וַיִּבְכּ֑וּ וְגַם־ הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וְכָל־ עֲבָדָ֔יו בָּכ֕וּ בְּכִ֖י גָּד֥וֹל מְאֹֽד׃

KJV ³⁷ But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.

S21 ³⁷ Absalom avait pris la fuite et il se rendit chez Talmaï, fils d'Ammihur et roi de Gueshur. Quant à David, il menait tous les jours deuil sur son fils.

WLC ³⁷ וְאַבְשָׁל֣וֹם בָּרַ֔ח וַיֵּ֛לֶךְ אֶל־ תַּלְמַ֥י בֶּן־ מֶ֣לֶךְ גְּשׁ֑וּר וַיִּתְאַבֵּ֥ל עַל־ בְּנ֖וֹ כָּל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃

KJV ³⁸ So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

S21 ³⁸ Absalom resta 3 ans à Gueshur, où il s'était rendu après avoir pris la fuite.

WLC ³⁸ וְאַבְשָׁל֥וֹם בָּרַ֖ח וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ גְּשׁ֑וּר וַיְהִי־ שָׁ֖ם שָׁלֹ֥שׁ שָׁנִֽים׃

KJV ³⁹ And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.

S21 ³⁹ Le roi David cessa de poursuivre Absalom lorsqu'il fut consolé de la mort d'Amnon.
