KJV ¹ Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

S21 ¹ A cette époque-là, le roi Hérode se mit à maltraiter des membres de l'Eglise,

KJV ² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

S21 ² et il fit mourir par l'épée Jacques, le frère de Jean.

KJV ³ And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

S21 ³ Quand il vit que cela plaisait aux Juifs, il fit encore arrêter Pierre. – C'était pendant la fête des pains sans levain. –

KJV ⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

S21 ⁴ Après l'avoir fait arrêter et jeter en prison, il le mit sous la garde de quatre escouades de quatre soldats chacune; il avait l'intention de le faire comparaître devant le peuple après la Pâque.

KJV ⁵ Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

S21 ⁵ Pierre était donc gardé dans la prison et l'Eglise adressait d'ardentes prières à Dieu pour lui.

KJV ⁶ And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

S21 ⁶ La nuit qui précédait le jour où Hérode allait le faire comparaître, Pierre, attaché avec deux chaînes, dormait entre deux soldats; des sentinelles postées devant la porte gardaient la prison.

KJV ⁷ And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

S21 ⁷ Soudain, un ange du Seigneur survint et une lumière resplendit dans la cellule. L'ange réveilla Pierre en le frappant au côté et lui dit: «Lève-toi vite!» Les chaînes tombèrent de ses mains.

KJV ⁸ And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

S21 ⁸ Puis l'ange lui dit: «Mets ta ceinture et tes sandales.» C'est ce qu'il fit. L'ange lui dit encore: «Mets ton manteau et suis-moi.»

KJV ⁹ And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

S21 ⁹ Pierre sortit et le suivit, sans savoir que ce que l'ange faisait était réel: il croyait avoir une vision.

KJV ¹⁰ When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

S21 ¹⁰ Ils passèrent la première garde, puis la seconde, et ils arrivèrent à la porte de fer qui mène à la ville. La porte s'ouvrit d'elle-même devant eux; ils sortirent et s'avancèrent dans une rue. Aussitôt l'ange quitta Pierre.

KJV ¹¹ And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

S21 ¹¹ Revenu à lui-même, Pierre dit: «Maintenant, je sais vraiment que le Seigneur a envoyé son ange et qu'il m'a délivré du pouvoir d'Hérode et de tout ce que le peuple juif attendait.»

KJV ¹² And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

S21 ¹² Après avoir réfléchi, il se dirigea vers la maison de Marie, la mère de Jean, surnommé Marc, où beaucoup de personnes étaient réunies et priaient.

KJV ¹³ And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

S21 ¹³ Il frappa à la porte d'entrée et une servante appelée Rhode s'approcha pour écouter.

KJV ¹⁴ And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

S21 ¹⁴ Elle reconnut la voix de Pierre et, dans sa joie, au lieu d'ouvrir, elle courut annoncer que Pierre se tenait devant la porte.

KJV ¹⁵ And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

S21 ¹⁵ Ils lui dirent: «Tu es folle», mais elle soutenait que c'était bien vrai. Ils dirent alors: «C'est son ange.»

KJV ¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

S21 ¹⁶ Cependant Pierre continuait à frapper. Ils ouvrirent et furent stupéfaits de le voir.

KJV ¹⁷ But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

S21 ¹⁷ De la main, il leur fit signe de se taire et il [leur] raconta comment le Seigneur l'avait tiré de la prison. Il ajouta: «Annoncez-le à Jacques et aux frères et sœurs.» Puis il sortit et s'en alla dans un autre endroit.

KJV ¹⁸ Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

S21 ¹⁸ Quand il fit jour, il y eut une grande agitation parmi les soldats: qu'était donc devenu Pierre?

KJV ¹⁹ And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.

S21 ¹⁹ Hérode le fit rechercher, mais on ne le trouva pas. Il interrogea les gardes et donna l'ordre de les faire exécuter. Ensuite il quitta la Judée et descendit à Césarée pour y séjourner.

KJV ²⁰ And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.

S21 ²⁰ Hérode était en conflit avec les Tyriens et les Sidoniens. Mais ils vinrent le trouver d'un commun accord et, après avoir gagné Blastus, le responsable de sa chambre, ils demandèrent la paix parce que leur région dépendait de celle du roi pour son ravitaillement.

KJV ²¹ And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

S21 ²¹ Le jour fixé, Hérode, habillé de sa tenue royale, était assis sur son trône et leur adressait publiquement un discours.

KJV ²² And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

S21 ²² Le peuple s'écria: «C'est la voix d'un dieu et non d'un être humain!»

KJV ²³ And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

S21 ²³ Un ange du Seigneur le frappa immédiatement parce qu'il n'avait pas donné gloire à Dieu. Il mourut rongé par des vers.

KJV ²⁴ But the word of God grew and multiplied.

S21 ²⁴ Quant à la parole de Dieu, elle se propageait de plus en plus.

KJV ²⁵ And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.

S21 ²⁵ Une fois leur mission à Jérusalem accomplie, Barnabas et Saul repartirent, emmenant avec eux Jean, surnommé Marc.
