BAN ¹ Mais un certain homme, du nom d'Ananias, avec Saphira, sa femme, vendit une propriété ;

KJV ¹ But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

BAN ² et il détourna quelque chose du prix, sa femme aussi étant complice ; et en ayant apporté une partie, il la déposa aux pieds des apôtres.

KJV ² And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

BAN ³ Mais Pierre lui dit : Ananias, pourquoi Satan a-t-il rempli ton coeur, pour que tu mentes à l'Esprit saint et détournes une partie du prix de ce fonds de terre ?

KJV ³ But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

BAN ⁴ Si tu ne l'avais pas vendu, ne demeurait-il pas à toi ? et, vendu, n'était-il pas en ton pouvoir ? Comment as-tu conçu dans ton coeur un tel dessein ? Ce n'est pas à des hommes que tu as menti, mais à Dieu.

KJV ⁴ Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

BAN ⁵ Ananias, entendant ces paroles, tomba et expira. Et il y eut une grande crainte sur tous ceux qui l'apprirent.

KJV ⁵ And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

BAN ⁶ Et les jeunes gens, s'étant levés, l'enveloppèrent, et l'ayant emporté, ils l'enterrèrent.

KJV ⁶ And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

BAN ⁷ Or il arriva, à un intervalle d'environ trois heures, que sa femme, ne sachant pas ce qui était arrivé, entra.

KJV ⁷ And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

BAN ⁸ Et Pierre lui adressa la parole : Dis-moi si c'est pour cette somme que vous avez cédé le fonds de terre ? Et elle dit : Oui, c'est pour cette somme.

KJV ⁸ And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

BAN ⁹ Alors Pierre lui dit : Comment un accord a-t-il été fait entre vous pour tenter l'Esprit du Seigneur ? Voici, les pieds de ceux qui ont enterré ton mari sont à la porte, et ils t'emporteront.

KJV ⁹ Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

BAN ¹⁰ Or, au même instant, elle tomba à ses pieds, et expira. Et les jeunes gens étant entrés la trouvèrent morte, et l'ayant emportée, ils l'enterrèrent auprès de son mari.

KJV ¹⁰ Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

BAN ¹¹ Et il y eut une grande crainte sur toute l'Eglise et sur tous ceux qui apprirent ces choses.

KJV ¹¹ And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

BAN ¹² Or il se faisait par les mains des apôtres beaucoup de miracles et de prodiges parmi le peuple. Et ils étaient tous d'un commun accord sous le portique de Salomon.

KJV ¹² And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

BAN ¹³ Et aucun des autres n'osait se joindre à eux ; mais le peuple leur donnait de grandes louanges.

KJV ¹³ And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

BAN ¹⁴ Mais il s'ajoutait toujours plus de ceux qui croyaient au Seigneur, des multitudes tant d'hommes que de femmes ;

KJV ¹⁴ And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

BAN ¹⁵ en sorte qu'on apportait les malades dans les rues et qu'on les plaçait sur de petits lits et sur des couchettes, afin que, Pierre venant à passer, son ombre du moins couvrît quelqu'un d'entre eux.

KJV ¹⁵ Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

BAN ¹⁶ Et la multitude accourait même des villes voisines de Jérusalem, apportant des malades et des gens tourmentés par des esprits impurs ; et tous étaient guéris.

KJV ¹⁶ There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

BAN ¹⁷ Mais le souverain sacrificateur s'étant levé, ainsi que tous ceux qui étaient avec lui, lesquels étaient le parti des sadducéens, ils furent remplis d'envie,

KJV ¹⁷ Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

BAN ¹⁸ et mirent les mains sur les apôtres et les jetèrent dans la prison publique.

KJV ¹⁸ And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

BAN ¹⁹ Mais un ange du Seigneur ouvrit pendant la nuit les portes de la prison, et, les ayant conduits dehors, il dit :

KJV ¹⁹ But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

BAN ²⁰ Allez, et, vous présentant dans le temple, annoncez au peuple toutes les paroles de cette vie.

KJV ²⁰ Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

BAN ²¹ Ayant entendu cela, ils entrèrent dès le point du jour dans le temple, et ils y enseignaient. Mais le souverain sacrificateur étant venu, et ceux qui étaient avec lui, ils convoquèrent le sanhédrin et tous les anciens des fils d'Israël ; et ils envoyèrent à la prison pour faire amener les apôtres.

KJV ²¹ And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

BAN ²² Mais les huissiers y étant arrivés, ne les trouvèrent point dans la prison ; ainsi ils s'en retournèrent, et firent leur rapport,

KJV ²² But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told,

BAN ²³ en disant : Nous avons trouvé la prison fermée en toute sûreté et les gardes debout devant les portes ; mais, ayant ouvert, nous n'avons trouvé personne dedans.

KJV ²³ Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

BAN ²⁴ Le commandant du temple et les principaux sacrificateurs ayant entendu ces paroles furent très perplexes à leur sujet, se demandant ce que cela deviendrait.

KJV ²⁴ Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

BAN ²⁵ Mais quelqu'un survenant leur fit ce rapport : Voici, les hommes que vous aviez mis dans la prison sont dans le temple, debout et enseignant le peuple.

KJV ²⁵ Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

BAN ²⁶ Alors le commandant du temple, s'en étant allé avec les huissiers, les amena, sans violence ; car ils craignaient le peuple, ils avaient peur d'être lapidés.

KJV ²⁶ Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

BAN ²⁷ Et les ayant amenés, ils les introduisirent dans le sanhédrin. Et le souverain sacrificateur les interrogea, disant :

KJV ²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

BAN ²⁸ Nous vous avons expressément défendu d'enseigner en ce nom-là. Et voici que vous avez rempli Jérusalem de votre enseignement, et que vous voulez faire venir sur nous le sang de cet homme !

KJV ²⁸ Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

BAN ²⁹ ? Mais Pierre et les apôtres répondant dirent : Il faut obéir à Dieu plutôt qu'aux hommes.

KJV ²⁹ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

BAN ³⁰ Le Dieu de nos pères a ressuscité Jésus, que vous, vous avez fait mourir en le pendant au bois.

KJV ³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

BAN ³¹ C'est lui que Dieu a élevé par sa droite comme Chef et Sauveur, afin de donner la repentance à Israël, et la rémission des péchés.

KJV ³¹ Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

BAN ³² Et nous, nous sommes témoins de ces choses, aussi bien que le Saint-Esprit que Dieu a donné à ceux qui lui obéissent.

KJV ³² And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

BAN ³³ Eux, entendant cela, frémissaient de fureur, et ils délibéraient de les faire mourir.

KJV ³³ When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

BAN ³⁴ Mais un pharisien, nommé Gamaliel, docteur de la loi honoré de tout le peuple, s'étant levé dans le sanhédrin, ordonna qu'on fit sortir un instant ces hommes.

KJV ³⁴ Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

BAN ³⁵ Et il leur dit : Hommes israélites, prenez garde à ce que vous allez faire à l'égard de ces hommes.

KJV ³⁵ And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

BAN ³⁶ Car avant ces jours-ci s'éleva Theudas, se disant être quelqu'un, auquel se joignit un nombre d'environ quatre cents hommes : il fut tué, et tous ceux qui lui obéissaient furent mis en déroute et réduits à rien.

KJV ³⁶ For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

BAN ³⁷ Après celui-là s'éleva Judas le Galiéen, à l'époque du recensement, et il entraîna du peuple après lui ; lui aussi périt, et tous ceux qui lui obéissaient furent dispersés.

KJV ³⁷ After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

BAN ³⁸ Et maintenant je vous dis : Cessez de poursuivre ces hommes et laissez-les ; car si ce dessein ou cette oeuvre est des hommes, elle sera détruite ;

KJV ³⁸ And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

BAN ³⁹ mais si elle vient de Dieu, vous ne pourrez les détruire. Prenez garde que vous ne vous trouviez avoir aussi fait la guerre à Dieu. Et ils se rangèrent à son avis.

KJV ³⁹ But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

BAN ⁴⁰ Et ayant rappelé les apôtres, après les avoir fait battre de verges, ils leur défendirent de parler au nom de Jésus ; et ils les laissèrent aller.

KJV ⁴⁰ And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

BAN ⁴¹ Eux donc se retiraient joyeux de devant le sanhédrin, parce qu'ils avaient été jugés dignes de souffrir des opprobres pour le nom de Jésus.

KJV ⁴¹ And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

BAN ⁴² Et ils ne cessaient tous les jours, dans le temple et dans les maisons, d'enseigner et d'annoncer le Christ, Jésus.

KJV ⁴² And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
