KJV ¹ In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

VULC ¹ In anno secundo Darii regis, in mense sexto, in die una mensis, factum est verbum Domini in manu Aggæi prophetæ, ad Zorobabel, filium Salathiel, ducem Juda, et ad Jesum, filium Josedec, sacerdotem magnum, dicens :

BCC ² Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : ce peuple dit : "le temps n'est pas venu, le temps pour la maison de Yahweh d'être rebâtie."

KJV ² Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.

VULC ² Hæc ait Dominus exercituum, dicens : Populus iste dicit : Nondum venit tempus domus Domini ædificandæ.

BCC ³ Et la parole de Yahweh se fit entendre par l'intermédiaire d'Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes :

BCC ⁴ Est-il temps pour vous autres d'habiter vos maisons lambrissées, quand cette maison-là est en ruines ?

KJV ⁴ Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

VULC ⁴ [Numquid tempus vobis est ut habitetis in domibus laqueatis,
et domus ista deserta ?

BCC ⁵ Et maintenant ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : Considérez attentivement vos voies.

KJV ⁵ Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

VULC ⁵ Et nunc hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :
Ponite corda vestra super vias vestras.

BCC ⁶ Vous avez semé beaucoup et recueilli peu ; vous mangez, mais non jusqu'à être rassasiés ; vous buvez, mais non jusqu'à votre soûl ; vous êtes vêtus, mais non jusqu'à être réchauffés ; et le salarié gagne son salaire pour une bourse trouée.

KJV ⁶ Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

VULC ⁶ Seminastis multum, et intulistis parum ;
comedistis, et non estis satiati ;
bibistis, et non estis inebriati ;
operuistis vos, et non estis calefacti ;
et qui mercedes congregavit, misit eas in sacculum pertusum.

BCC ⁸ Allez à la montagne, apportez du bois, et bâtissez la maison ; j'en aurai plaisir et gloire, dit Yahweh.

KJV ⁸ Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

VULC ⁸ ascendite in montem, portate ligna, et ædificate domum :
et acceptabilis mihi erit, et glorificabor, dicit Dominus.

BCC ⁹ Vous comptiez sur beaucoup, et voici que cela se réduit à peu ; vous aviez rentré vos récoltes, et j'ai soufflé dessus. À cause de quoi ‒ oracle de Yahweh des armées ? À cause de ma maison qui est en ruines, tandis que vous vous empressez chacun pour votre maison.

KJV ⁹ Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

VULC ⁹ Respexistis ad amplius, et ecce factum est minus ;
et intulistis in domum, et exsufflavi illud :
quam ob causam ? dicit Dominus exercituum :
quia domus mea deserta est,
et vos festinatis unusquisque in domum suam.

KJV ¹¹ And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

VULC ¹¹ et vocavi siccitatem super terram, et super montes,
et super triticum, et super vinum, et super oleum,
et quæcumque profert humus,
et super homines, et super jumenta,
et super omnem laborem manuum.]

BCC ¹² Alors Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, et Jésus, fils de Josédec, le grand prêtre, et tout le reste du peuple, écoutèrent la voix de Yahweh, leur Dieu, et les paroles d'Aggée, le prophète, selon la mission qu'il avait reçue de Yahweh, leur Dieu ; et le peuple craignit devant Yahweh.

KJV ¹² Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

VULC ¹² Et audivit Zorobabel, filius Salathiel, et Jesus, filius Josedec, sacerdos magnus, et omnes reliquiæ populi, vocem Domini Dei sui, et verba Aggæi prophetæ, sicut misit eum Dominus Deus eorum ad eos, et timuit populus a facie Domini.

BCC ¹³ Et Aggée, envoyé de Yahweh, sur l'ordre de Yahweh, parla au peuple en ces termes :" Je suis avec vous, ‒ oracle de Yahweh."

KJV ¹³ Then spake Haggai the LORD's messenger in the LORD's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.

VULC ¹³ Et dixit Aggæus, nuntius Domini de nuntiis Domini, populo dicens : Ego vobiscum sum, dicit Dominus.

KJV ¹⁴ And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

VULC ¹⁴ Et suscitavit Dominus spiritum Zorobabel, filii Salathiel, ducis Juda, et spiritum Jesu, filii Josedec, sacerdotis magni, et spiritum reliquorum de omni populo : et ingressi sunt, et faciebant opus in domo Domini exercituum, Dei sui.
