Amos 8KJV 1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
VULC 1 Hæc ostendit mihi Dominus Deus : et ecce uncinus pomorum.
WLC 1 כֹּ֥ה הִרְאַ֖נִי אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֖ה כְּל֥וּב קָֽיִץ׃
KJV 2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
VULC 2 Et dixit : Quid tu vides, Amos ? Et dixi : Uncinum pomorum. Et dixit Dominus ad me : [Venit finis super populum meum Israël ;
non adjiciam ultra ut pertranseam eum.
WLC 2 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר מָֽה־ אַתָּ֤ה רֹאֶה֙ עָמ֔וֹס וָאֹמַ֖ר כְּל֣וּב קָ֑יִץ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י בָּ֤א הַקֵּץ֙ אֶל־ עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹא־ אוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד עֲב֥וֹר לֽוֹ׃
KJV 3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
VULC 3 Et stridebunt cardines templi in die illa,
dicit Dominus Deus :
multi morientur ;
in omni loco projicietur silentium.]
WLC 3 וְהֵילִ֜ילוּ שִׁיר֤וֹת הֵיכָל֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה רַ֣ב הַפֶּ֔גֶר בְּכָל־ מָק֖וֹם הִשְׁלִ֥יךְ הָֽס׃
KJV 4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
VULC 4 [Audite hoc, qui conteritis pauperem,
et deficere facitis egenos terræ,
WLC 4 שִׁמְעוּ־ זֹ֕את הַשֹּׁאֲפִ֖ים אֶבְי֑וֹן וְלַשְׁבִּ֖ית אָֽרֶץ׃
KJV 5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
VULC 5 dicentes : Quando transibit mensis,
et venundabimus merces ?
et sabbatum, et aperiemus frumentum,
ut imminuamus mensuram, et augeamus siclum,
et supponamus stateras dolosas,

KJV 6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
VULC 6 ut possideamus in argento egenos et pauperes pro calceamentis,
et quisquilias frumenti vendamus ?
WLC 6 לִקְנ֤וֹת בַּכֶּ֙סֶף֙ דַּלִּ֔ים וְאֶבְי֖וֹן בַּעֲב֣וּר נַעֲלָ֑יִם וּמַפַּ֥ל בַּ֖ר נַשְׁבִּֽיר׃
KJV 7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
VULC 7 Juravit Dominus in superbiam Jacob :
Si oblitus fuero usque ad finem omnia opera eorum.
WLC 7 נִשְׁבַּ֥ע יְהוָ֖ה בִּגְא֣וֹן יַעֲקֹ֑ב אִם־ אֶשְׁכַּ֥ח לָנֶ֖צַח כָּל־ מַעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃
KJV 8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
VULC 8 Numquid super isto non commovebitur terra,
et lugebit omnis habitator ejus,
et ascendet quasi fluvius universus,
et ejicicetur, et defluet, quasi rivus Ægypti ?
WLC 8 הַ֤עַל זֹאת֙ לֹֽא־ תִרְגַּ֣ז הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאָבַ֖ל כָּל־ יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בָּ֑הּ וְעָלְתָ֤ה כָאֹר֙ כֻּלָּ֔הּ וְנִגְרְשָׁ֥ה כִּיא֥וֹר מִצְרָֽיִם׃
KJV 9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:

occidet sol in meridie,
et tenebrescere faciam terram in die luminis :
WLC 9 וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ בַּֽצָּהֳרָ֑יִם וְהַחֲשַׁכְתִּ֥י לָאָ֖רֶץ בְּי֥וֹם אֽוֹר׃
KJV 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
VULC 10 et convertam festivitates vestras in luctum,
et omnia cantica vestra in planctum,
et inducam super omne dorsum vestrum saccum,
et super omne caput calvitium :
et ponam eam quasi luctum unigeniti,
et novissima ejus quasi diem amarum.
WLC 10 וְהָפַכְתִּ֨י חַגֵּיכֶ֜ם לְאֵ֗בֶל וְכָל־ שִֽׁירֵיכֶם֙ לְקִינָ֔ה וְהַעֲלֵיתִ֤י עַל־ כָּל־ מָתְנַ֙יִם֙ שָׂ֔ק וְעַל־ כָּל־ רֹ֖אשׁ קָרְחָ֑ה וְשַׂמְתִּ֙יהָ֙ כְּאֵ֣בֶל יָחִ֔יד וְאַחֲרִיתָ֖הּ כְּי֥וֹם מָֽר׃
KJV 11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
VULC 11 Ecce dies veniunt, dicet Dominus,
et mittam famem in terram :
non famem panis, neque sitim aquæ,
sed audiendi verbum Domini.
WLC 11 הִנֵּ֣ה ׀ יָמִ֣ים בָּאִ֗ים נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה וְהִשְׁלַחְתִּ֥י רָעָ֖ב בָּאָ֑רֶץ לֹֽא־ רָעָ֤ב לַלֶּ֙חֶם֙ וְלֹֽא־ צָמָ֣א לַמַּ֔יִם כִּ֣י אִם־ לִשְׁמֹ֔עַ אֵ֖ת דִּבְרֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
KJV 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
VULC 12 Et commovebuntur a mari usque ad mare,
et ab aquilone usque ad orientem :
circuibunt quærentes verbum Domini,
et non invenient.
WLC 12 וְנָעוּ֙ מִיָּ֣ם עַד־ יָ֔ם וּמִצָּפ֖וֹן וְעַד־ מִזְרָ֑ח יְשֽׁוֹטְט֛וּ לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ אֶת־ דְּבַר־ יְהוָ֖ה וְלֹ֥א יִמְצָֽאוּ׃
KJV 13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

WLC 13 בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא תִּ֠תְעַלַּפְנָה הַבְּתוּלֹ֧ת הַיָּפ֛וֹת וְהַבַּחוּרִ֖ים בַּצָּמָֽא׃
KJV 14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

et dicunt : Vivit Deus tuus, Dan,
et vivit via Bersabee ;
et cadent, et non resurgent ultra.]
