WLC ¹ ה֥וֹי הַחֹֽקְקִ֖ים חִקְקֵי־ אָ֑וֶן וּֽמְכַתְּבִ֥ים עָמָ֖ל כִּתֵּֽבוּ׃

BAN ² refusant la justice aux misérables et dépouillant de leur droit les affligés de mon peuple, pour faire des veuves leur proie et des orphelins leur butin !

KJV ² To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

WLC ² לְהַטּ֤וֹת מִדִּין֙ דַּלִּ֔ים וְלִגְזֹ֕ל מִשְׁפַּ֖ט עֲנִיֵּ֣י עַמִּ֑י לִהְי֤וֹת אַלְמָנוֹת֙ שְׁלָלָ֔ם וְאֶת־ יְתוֹמִ֖ים יָבֹֽזּוּ׃

BAN ³ Et que ferez-vous au jour de la visitation et dans la catastrophe qui arrivera de loin ? Vers qui fuirez-vous pour avoir du secours, et où cacherez-vous vos trésors ?

KJV ³ And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?

WLC ³ וּמַֽה־ תַּעֲשׂוּ֙ לְי֣וֹם פְּקֻדָּ֔ה וּלְשׁוֹאָ֖ה מִמֶּרְחָ֣ק תָּב֑וֹא עַל־ מִי֙ תָּנ֣וּסוּ לְעֶזְרָ֔ה וְאָ֥נָה תַעַזְב֖וּ כְּבוֹדְכֶֽם׃

BAN ⁴ Il ne reste qu'à se courber comme prisonnier ou à tomber parmi les tués ! Avec tout cela, sa colère ne s'est point détournée, et sa main reste étendue !

KJV ⁴ Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

WLC ⁴ בִּלְתִּ֤י כָרַע֙ תַּ֣חַת אַסִּ֔יר וְתַ֥חַת הֲרוּגִ֖ים יִפֹּ֑לוּ בְּכָל־ זֹאת֙ לֹא־ שָׁ֣ב אַפּ֔וֹ וְע֖וֹד יָד֥וֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃

BAN ⁵ Malheur à Assur, verge de ma colère ! Le bâton qui est dans sa main est l'instrument de ma vengeance.

KJV ⁵ O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

WLC ⁵ ה֥וֹי אַשּׁ֖וּר שֵׁ֣בֶט אַפִּ֑י וּמַטֶּה־ ה֥וּא בְיָדָ֖ם זַעְמִֽי׃

BAN ⁶ Je l'envoie contre une nation impie, je le dépêche contre le peuple de mon courroux, pour le mettre au pillage et faire du butin, et pour le fouler aux pieds comme la boue des rues.

KJV ⁶ I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

WLC ⁶ בְּג֤וֹי חָנֵף֙ אֲשַׁלְּחֶ֔נּוּ וְעַל־ עַ֥ם עֶבְרָתִ֖י אֲצַוֶּ֑נּוּ לִשְׁלֹ֤ל שָׁלָל֙ וְלָבֹ֣ז בַּ֔ז מִרְמָ֖ס כְּחֹ֥מֶר חוּצֽוֹת׃

BAN ⁷ Mais lui, ce n'est pas ainsi qu'il l'entend, et son coeur ne pense point ainsi, car il ne songe qu'à détruire et à exterminer des nations en grand nombre.

KJV ⁷ Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

WLC ⁷ וְהוּא֙ לֹא־ כֵ֣ן יְדַמֶּ֔ה וּלְבָב֖וֹ לֹא־ כֵ֣ן יַחְשֹׁ֑ב כִּ֚י לְהַשְׁמִ֣יד בִּלְבָב֔וֹ וּלְהַכְרִ֥ית גּוֹיִ֖ם לֹ֥א מְעָֽט׃

BAN ⁸ car il dit : Mes princes ne sont-ils pas autant de rois ?

KJV ⁸ For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?

WLC ⁸ כִּ֖י יֹאמַ֑ר הֲלֹ֥א שָׂרַ֛י יַחְדָּ֖ו מְלָכִֽים׃

BAN ⁹ N'en a-t-il pas été de Calno comme de Carkémis, et de Hamath comme d'Arpad, et de Samarie comme de Damas ?

KJV ⁹ Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?

WLC ⁹ הֲלֹ֥א כְּכַרְכְּמִ֖ישׁ כַּלְנ֑וֹ אִם־ לֹ֤א כְאַרְפַּד֙ חֲמָ֔ת אִם־ לֹ֥א כְדַמֶּ֖שֶׂק שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

BAN ¹⁰ Comme ma main a atteint les royaumes des dieux, et pourtant leurs idoles valaient mieux que celles de Jérusalem et de Samarie,

KJV ¹⁰ As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

WLC ¹⁰ כַּאֲשֶׁר֙ מָצְאָ֣ה יָדִ֔י לְמַמְלְכֹ֖ת הָאֱלִ֑יל וּפְסִ֣ילֵיהֶ֔ם מִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וּמִשֹּׁמְרֽוֹן׃

BAN ¹¹ ne ferai-je pas à Jérusalem et à ses images ce que j'ai fait à Samarie et à ses dieux ?

KJV ¹¹ Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

WLC ¹¹ הֲלֹ֗א כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֛יתִי לְשֹׁמְר֖וֹן וְלֶאֱלִילֶ֑יהָ כֵּ֛ן אֶעֱשֶׂ֥ה לִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וְלַעֲצַבֶּֽיהָ׃

BAN ¹² Mais il arrivera, quand le Seigneur aura achevé toute son oeuvre sur la montagne de Sion et à Jérusalem, que je visiterai le fruit du coeur hautain du roi d'Assyrie et l'arrogance de ses regards altiers ;

KJV ¹² Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

WLC ¹² וְהָיָ֗ה כִּֽי־ יְבַצַּ֤ע אֲדֹנָי֙ אֶת־ כָּל־ מַֽעֲשֵׂ֔הוּ בְּהַ֥ר צִיּ֖וֹן וּבִירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם אֶפְקֹ֗ד עַל־ פְּרִי־ גֹ֙דֶל֙ לְבַ֣ב מֶֽלֶךְ־ אַשּׁ֔וּר וְעַל־ תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת ר֥וּם עֵינָֽיו׃

BAN ¹³ parce qu'il a dit : C'est par la force de ma main que j'ai fait cela, et par ma sagesse, car je suis intelligent ! J'ai déplacé les bornes des peuples et pillé leurs trésors, et comme un héros, j'ai détrôné les rois !

KJV ¹³ For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

WLC ¹³ כִּ֣י אָמַ֗ר בְּכֹ֤חַ יָדִי֙ עָשִׂ֔יתִי וּבְחָכְמָתִ֖י כִּ֣י נְבֻנ֑וֹתִי וְאָסִ֣יר ׀ גְּבוּלֹ֣ת עַמִּ֗ים שׁוֹשֵׂ֔תִי וְאוֹרִ֥יד כַּאבִּ֖יר יוֹשְׁבִֽים׃

BAN ¹⁴ Ma main a saisi, comme un nid, les richesses des peuples, et comme on ramasse des oeufs abandonnés, j'ai ramassé toute la terre, sans que nul ait remué l'aile, ouvert le bec, ou poussé un cri !

KJV ¹⁴ And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

WLC ¹⁴ וַתִּמְצָ֨א כַקֵּ֤ן ׀ יָדִי֙ לְחֵ֣יל הָֽעַמִּ֔ים וְכֶאֱסֹף֙ בֵּיצִ֣ים עֲזֻב֔וֹת כָּל־ הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲנִ֣י אָסָ֑פְתִּי וְלֹ֤א הָיָה֙ נֹדֵ֣ד כָּנָ֔ף וּפֹצֶ֥ה פֶ֖ה וּמְצַפְצֵֽף׃

BAN ¹⁵ La hache se glorifie-t-elle contre celui qui la manie ? La scie s'élève-t-elle contre celui qui la meut ? Comme si la verge faisait mouvoir celui qui la lève, comme si le bâton soulevait ce qui n'est pas du bois !

KJV ¹⁵ Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

WLC ¹⁵ הֲיִתְפָּאֵר֙ הַגַּרְזֶ֔ן עַ֖ל הַחֹצֵ֣ב בּ֑וֹ אִם־ יִתְגַּדֵּ֤ל הַמַּשּׂוֹר֙ עַל־ מְנִיפ֔וֹ כְּהָנִ֥יף שֵׁ֙בֶט֙ וְאֶת־ מְרִימָ֔יו כְּהָרִ֥ים מַטֶּ֖ה לֹא־ עֵֽץ׃

BAN ¹⁶ C'est pourquoi le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées, enverra la maigreur sur ses hommes forts, et sous sa magnificence s'allumera un feu comme le feu d'un incendie !

KJV ¹⁶ Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

WLC ¹⁶ לָ֠כֵן יְשַׁלַּ֨ח הָאָד֜וֹן יְהוָ֧ה צְבָא֛וֹת בְּמִשְׁמַנָּ֖יו רָז֑וֹן וְתַ֧חַת כְּבֹד֛וֹ יֵקַ֥ד יְקֹ֖ד כִּיק֥וֹד אֵֽשׁ׃

BAN ¹⁷ La lumière d'Israël sera un feu et son Saint une flamme qui embrasera et dévorera ses épines et ses ronces en un seul jour.

KJV ¹⁷ And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

WLC ¹⁷ וְהָיָ֤ה אֽוֹר־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לְאֵ֔שׁ וּקְדוֹשׁ֖וֹ לְלֶהָבָ֑ה וּבָעֲרָ֗ה וְאָֽכְלָ֛ה שִׁית֥וֹ וּשְׁמִיר֖וֹ בְּי֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et il anéantira la gloire de sa forêt et de son verger, corps et âme ; ce sera comme le dépérissement d'un homme en langueur.

KJV ¹⁸ And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standard-bearer fainteth.

WLC ¹⁸ וּכְב֤וֹד יַעְרוֹ֙ וְכַרְמִלּ֔וֹ מִנֶּ֥פֶשׁ וְעַד־ בָּשָׂ֖ר יְכַלֶּ֑ה וְהָיָ֖ה כִּמְסֹ֥ס נֹסֵֽס׃

BAN ¹⁹ Le reste des arbres de sa forêt pourra être compté ; un enfant les inscrirait !

KJV ¹⁹ And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

WLC ¹⁹ וּשְׁאָ֥ר עֵ֛ץ יַעְר֖וֹ מִסְפָּ֣ר יִֽהְי֑וּ וְנַ֖עַר יִכְתְּבֵֽם׃

BAN ²⁰ Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que le reste d'Israël et les réchappés de la maison de Jacob ne s'appuieront plus sur celui qui les frappait, mais ils s'appuieront avec vérité sur l'Eternel, le Saint d'Israël.

KJV ²⁰ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

WLC ²⁰ וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא לֹֽא־ יוֹסִ֨יף ע֜וֹד שְׁאָ֤ר יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וּפְלֵיטַ֣ת בֵּֽית־ יַעֲקֹ֔ב לְהִשָּׁעֵ֖ן עַל־ מַכֵּ֑הוּ וְנִשְׁעַ֗ן עַל־ יְהוָ֛ה קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בֶּאֱמֶֽת׃

BAN ²¹ Le reste, le reste de Jacob se convertira au Dieu fort !

KJV ²¹ The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

WLC ²¹ שְׁאָ֥ר יָשׁ֖וּב שְׁאָ֣ר יַעֲקֹ֑ב אֶל־ אֵ֖ל גִּבּֽוֹר׃

BAN ²² Car, quand ton peuple, ô Israël, serait comme le sable de la mer, c'est un reste qui reviendra ; la destruction est résolue, elle fera déborder la justice.

KJV ²² For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

BAN ²³ Car la destruction qu'il a décrétée, le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées, l'accomplit dans toute la terre.

KJV ²³ For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

WLC ²³ כִּ֥י כָלָ֖ה וְנֶחֱרָצָ֑ה אֲדֹנָ֤י יְהוִה֙ צְבָא֔וֹת עֹשֶׂ֖ה בְּקֶ֥רֶב כָּל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

BAN ²⁴ C'est pourquoi, ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées : Ne crains rien d'Assur, ô mon peuple, habitant de Sion, quand il te frappera avec la verge et qu'il lèvera son bâton sur toi, comme autrefois l'Egypte.

KJV ²⁴ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

WLC ²⁴ לָכֵ֗ן כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֞ר אֲדֹנָ֤י יְהוִה֙ צְבָא֔וֹת אַל־ תִּירָ֥א עַמִּ֛י יֹשֵׁ֥ב צִיּ֖וֹן מֵֽאַשּׁ֑וּר בַּשֵּׁ֣בֶט יַכֶּ֔כָּה וּמַטֵּ֥הוּ יִשָּֽׂא־ עָלֶ֖יךָ בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

BAN ²⁵ Car encore bien peu de temps, et mon courroux cessera, et ma colère se tournera contre eux pour les détruire.

KJV ²⁵ For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

WLC ²⁵ כִּי־ ע֖וֹד מְעַ֣ט מִזְעָ֑ר וְכָ֣לָה זַ֔עַם וְאַפִּ֖י עַל־ תַּבְלִיתָֽם׃

BAN ²⁶ Et l'Eternel des armées lèvera contre lui le fouet, comme il frappa Madian au rocher d'Oreb ; son bâton est sur la mer, et il le lève comme autrefois en Egypte !

KJV ²⁶ And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

WLC ²⁶ וְעוֹרֵ֨ר עָלָ֜יו יְהוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ שׁ֔וֹט כְּמַכַּ֥ת מִדְיָ֖ן בְּצ֣וּר עוֹרֵ֑ב וּמַטֵּ֙הוּ֙ עַל־ הַיָּ֔ם וּנְשָׂא֖וֹ בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

BAN ²⁷ Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que son fardeau sera ôté de dessus ton épaule et son joug de dessus ton cou, et le joug sera secoué par la graisse.

KJV ²⁷ And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

WLC ²⁷ וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא יָס֤וּר סֻבֳּלוֹ֙ מֵעַ֣ל שִׁכְמֶ֔ךָ וְעֻלּ֖וֹ מֵעַ֣ל צַוָּארֶ֑ךָ וְחֻבַּ֥ל עֹ֖ל מִפְּנֵי־ שָֽׁמֶן׃

BAN ²⁸ Il est venu à Ajath, il a passé à Migron, il laissé son bagage à Micmas.

KJV ²⁸ He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:

WLC ²⁸ בָּ֥א עַל־ עַיַּ֖ת עָבַ֣ר בְּמִגְר֑וֹן לְמִכְמָ֖שׂ יַפְקִ֥יד כֵּלָֽיו׃

BAN ²⁹ Ils ont passé le défilé ; ils bivouaquent à Guéba ; Rama tremble, Guibéa de Saül prend la fuite.

KJV ²⁹ They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

WLC ²⁹ עָֽבְרוּ֙ מַעְבָּרָ֔ה גֶּ֖בַע מָל֣וֹן לָ֑נוּ חָֽרְדָה֙ הָֽרָמָ֔ה גִּבְעַ֥ת שָׁא֖וּל נָֽסָה׃

BAN ³⁰ Elève ta voix, fille de Gallim ! Aie l'oreille au guet, Laïs ! Pauvre Anathoth !

KJV ³⁰ Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.

WLC ³⁰ צַהֲלִ֥י קוֹלֵ֖ךְ בַּת־ גַּלִּ֑ים הַקְשִׁ֥יבִי לַ֖יְשָׁה עֲנִיָּ֥ה עֲנָתֽוֹת׃

BAN ³¹ Madména se disperse, les habitants de Guébim sont en fuite.

KJV ³¹ Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

WLC ³¹ נָדְדָ֖ה מַדְמֵנָ֑ה יֹשְׁבֵ֥י הַגֵּבִ֖ים הֵעִֽיזוּ׃

BAN ³² Encore un jour, et il sera à Nob, il lèvera sa main contre la montagne de la fille de Sion, contre le coteau de Jérusalem !

KJV ³² As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

WLC ³² ע֥וֹד הַיּ֖וֹם בְּנֹ֣ב לַֽעֲמֹ֑ד יְנֹפֵ֤ף יָדוֹ֙ הַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹן גִּבְעַ֖ת יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

BAN ³³ Voici, le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées, abat avec fracas la couronne des arbres ; les plus hauts sont coupés, et les plus altiers sont jetés par terre ;

KJV ³³ Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

WLC ³³ הִנֵּ֤ה הָאָדוֹן֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת מְסָעֵ֥ף פֻּארָ֖ה בְּמַעֲרָצָ֑ה וְרָמֵ֤י הַקּוֹמָה֙ גְּדוּעִ֔ים וְהַגְּבֹהִ֖ים יִשְׁפָּֽלוּ׃

BAN ³⁴ il taille avec le fer les fourrés de la forêt, et le Liban tombe sous les coups d'un Puissant !

KJV ³⁴ And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

WLC ³⁴ וְנִקַּ֛ף סִֽבְכֵ֥י הַיַּ֖עַר בַּבַּרְזֶ֑ל וְהַלְּבָנ֖וֹן בְּאַדִּ֥יר יִפּֽוֹל׃
