BAN ¹ Sentence de Damas.
Voici, Damas va cesser d'être au nombre des villes, et ne sera plus qu'un monceau de ruines !

KJV ¹ The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

BAN ² Les villes d'Aroër sont abandonnées ; elles sont livrées aux troupeaux, et ils y coucheront sans que personne les en chasse.

KJV ² The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

BAN ³ La forteresse sera ôtée à Ephraïm, et la royauté à Damas ; il en sera du reste de la Syrie comme de la gloire des fils d'Israël, dit l'Eternel des armées.

KJV ³ The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.

BAN ⁴ Il arrivera en ce jour-là que la gloire de Jacob sera diminuée, et la graisse de son corps sera amaigrie.

KJV ⁴ And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

BAN ⁵ Il en sera comme lorsque le moissonneur rassemble les tiges et que son bras coupe les épis, comme lorsqu'on ramasse les épis dans la vallée des Réphaïm.

KJV ⁵ And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.

BAN ⁶ Il restera un grappillage, comme lorsqu'on secoue l'olivier, deux, trois olives au haut de la cime, quatre, cinq aux branches des meilleurs arbres, dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël.

KJV ⁶ Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.

BAN ⁷ En ce jour-là, l'homme regardera vers son Créateur, et ses yeux se tourneront vers le Saint d'Israël.

KJV ⁷ At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

BAN ⁸ Il ne regardera plus vers les autels, oeuvre de ses mains ; il ne se tournera plus vers ce que ses doigts ont façonné, les idoles d'Astarté et du Soleil.

KJV ⁸ And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

BAN ⁹ En ce jour-là, ses villes fortes seront comme les ruines dans les bois et les montagnes, qui furent abandonnées devant les enfants d'Israël : ce sera un désert.

KJV ⁹ In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.

BAN ¹⁰ Car tu as oublié le Dieu de ton salut, et tu ne t'es point souvenue du rocher de ta force ; c'est pourquoi tu plantais des plantations agréables, et tu y mettais des ceps étrangers ;

KJV ¹⁰ Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

BAN ¹¹ au jour où tu les plantais, tu y mettais une clôture, et le matin tu faisais fleurir tes semences ; la moisson t'échappe au jour de la maladie et de la douleur mortelle !

KJV ¹¹ In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

BAN ¹² Ha ! Mugissement de peuples nombreux ! Ils mugissent comme mugissent les mers. Grondement de nations ! Elles grondent comme grondent les grandes eaux.

KJV ¹² Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

BAN ¹³ Les nations grondent comme grondent les grosses eaux ! Il les tance ; elles fuient au loin ; elles sont dispersées comme la balle sur les hauteurs au souffle du vent, comme un tourbillon de poussière devant l'ouragan.

KJV ¹³ The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

BAN ¹⁴ Au soir, voici l'épouvante ; avant le matin, ils ne, sont plus. Voilà la part de ceux qui nous dépouillent, et le sort de ceux qui nous pillent !

KJV ¹⁴ And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
