KJV ¹ The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Damas sera supprimée; elle ne sera plus une ville,

WLC ¹ מַשָּׂ֖א דַּמָּ֑שֶׂק הִנֵּ֤ה דַמֶּ֙שֶׂק֙ מוּסָ֣ר מֵעִ֔יר וְהָיְתָ֖ה מְעִ֥י מַפָּלָֽה׃

KJV ² The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

S21 ² Les villes qui dépendent d'Aroër seront abandonnées,
livrées aux troupeaux;
ils y coucheront, sans plus personne pour les effrayer.

WLC ² עֲזֻב֖וֹת עָרֵ֣י עֲרֹעֵ֑ר לַעֲדָרִ֣ים תִּֽהְיֶ֔ינָה וְרָבְצ֖וּ וְאֵ֥ין מַחֲרִֽיד׃

KJV ³ The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.

S21 ³ Il est réglé, le sort de la forteresse d'Ephraïm,
du royaume de Damas et du reste de la Syrie:
il est identique à celui de la gloire des Israélites,
déclare l'Eternel, le maître de l'univers.

WLC ³ וְנִשְׁבַּ֤ת מִבְצָר֙ מֵֽאֶפְרַ֔יִם וּמַמְלָכָ֥ה מִדַּמֶּ֖שֶׂק וּשְׁאָ֣ר אֲרָ֑ם כִּכְב֤וֹד בְּנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יִֽהְי֔וּ נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁴ And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

S21 ⁴ Ce jour-là, la gloire de Jacob diminuera
et son embonpoint fondra.

WLC ⁴ וְהָיָה֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִדַּ֖ל כְּב֣וֹד יַעֲקֹ֑ב וּמִשְׁמַ֥ן בְּשָׂר֖וֹ יֵרָזֶֽה׃

KJV ⁵ And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.

S21 ⁵ Ce sera comme lorsque le moissonneur récolte les gerbes de blé
en attrapant les épis avec sa main,
comme lorsqu'on ramasse les épis oubliés
dans la vallée des Rephaïm,

WLC ⁵ וְהָיָ֗ה כֶּֽאֱסֹף֙ קָצִ֣יר קָמָ֔ה וּזְרֹע֖וֹ שִׁבֳּלִ֣ים יִקְצ֑וֹר וְהָיָ֛ה כִּמְלַקֵּ֥ט שִׁבֳּלִ֖ים בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים׃

KJV ⁶ Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.

S21 ⁶ il en restera quelques grappillons,
comme quand on secoue l'olivier:
2, 3 olives tout en haut,
4, 5 dans les branches porteuses de fruits,
déclare l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël.

WLC ⁶ וְנִשְׁאַר־ בּ֤וֹ עֽוֹלֵלֹת֙ כְּנֹ֣קֶף זַ֔יִת שְׁנַ֧יִם שְׁלֹשָׁ֛ה גַּרְגְּרִ֖ים בְּרֹ֣אשׁ אָמִ֑יר אַרְבָּעָ֣ה חֲמִשָּׁ֗ה בִּסְעִפֶ֙יהָ֙ פֹּֽרִיָּ֔ה נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ⁷ At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

S21 ⁷ Ce jour-là, l'homme portera ses regards sur son créateur, ses yeux se tourneront vers le Saint d'Israël.

WLC ⁷ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִשְׁעֶ֥ה הָאָדָ֖ם עַל־ עֹשֵׂ֑הוּ וְעֵינָ֕יו אֶל־ קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תִּרְאֶֽינָה׃

KJV ⁸ And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

S21 ⁸ Son regard ne se portera plus sur les autels, qu'il a faits de ses mains, et il ne contemplera plus ce que ses doigts ont fabriqué, les poteaux sacrés et les piliers consacrés au soleil.

WLC ⁸ וְלֹ֣א יִשְׁעֶ֔ה אֶל־ הַֽמִּזְבְּח֖וֹת מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יָדָ֑יו וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשׂ֤וּ אֶצְבְּעֹתָיו֙ לֹ֣א יִרְאֶ֔ה וְהָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים וְהָחַמָּנִֽים׃

KJV ⁹ In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.

S21 ⁹ Ce jour-là, ses villes fortifiées seront abandonnées
comme forêts et sommets l'ont été
à l'approche des Israélites:
ce sera un désert.

WLC ⁹ בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יִהְי֣וּ ׀ עָרֵ֣י מָעֻזּ֗וֹ כַּעֲזוּבַ֤ת הַחֹ֙רֶשׁ֙ וְהָ֣אָמִ֔יר אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָזְב֔וּ מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְהָיְתָ֖ה שְׁמָמָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁰ Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

S21 ¹⁰ En effet, tu as oublié le Dieu qui était ton Sauveur,
tu ne t'es pas souvenu du rocher qui te servait de refuge.
C'est pourquoi tu as planté des jardins d'agrément,
tu as semé des plantes étrangères.

WLC ¹⁰ כִּ֤י שָׁכַ֙חַתְּ֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעֵ֔ךְ וְצ֥וּר מָעֻזֵּ֖ךְ לֹ֣א זָכָ֑רְתְּ עַל־ כֵּ֗ן תִּטְּעִי֙ נִטְעֵ֣י נַעֲמָנִ֔ים וּזְמֹ֥רַת זָ֖ר תִּזְרָעֶֽנּוּ׃

KJV ¹¹ In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

S21 ¹¹ Le jour où tu les as mises en terre, tu les as vues grandir;
le matin même, tu les as vues bourgeonner,
mais la récolte s'est enfuie au moment de la maladie
et le mal est sans remède.

WLC ¹¹ בְּי֤וֹם נִטְעֵךְ֙ תְּשַׂגְשֵׂ֔גִי וּבַבֹּ֖קֶר זַרְעֵ֣ךְ תַּפְרִ֑יחִי נֵ֥ד קָצִ֛יר בְּי֥וֹם נַחֲלָ֖ה וּכְאֵ֥ב אָנֽוּשׁ׃

KJV ¹² Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

S21 ¹² Quel malheur! Quel vacarme font les peuples, dans leur nombre!
Leur vacarme est pareil au grondement de la mer.
Quel tapage font les nations!
Leur tapage est pareil à celui d'une eau puissante.

WLC ¹² ה֗וֹי הֲמוֹן֙ עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים כַּהֲמ֥וֹת יַמִּ֖ים יֶהֱמָי֑וּן וּשְׁא֣וֹן לְאֻמִּ֔ים כִּשְׁא֛וֹן מַ֥יִם כַּבִּירִ֖ים יִשָּׁאֽוּן׃

KJV ¹³ The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

S21 ¹³ Les nations font le même tapage que les grandes eaux.
Cependant, il les menace et elles s'enfuient très loin,
chassées comme la paille des montagnes par le souffle du vent,
comme un tourbillon de poussière devant une tempête.

WLC ¹³ לְאֻמִּ֗ים כִּשְׁא֞וֹן מַ֤יִם רַבִּים֙ יִשָּׁא֔וּן וְגָ֥עַר בּ֖וֹ וְנָ֣ס מִמֶּרְחָ֑ק וְרֻדַּ֗ף כְּמֹ֤ץ הָרִים֙ לִפְנֵי־ ר֔וּחַ וּכְגַלְגַּ֖ל לִפְנֵ֥י סוּפָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁴ And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

S21 ¹⁴ Quand vient le soir, c'est une ruine soudaine;
avant le matin, il ne reste plus rien!
Voilà quelle est la part réservée à ceux qui nous dépouillent,
quel est le sort de ceux qui nous pillent.

WLC ¹⁴ לְעֵ֥ת עֶ֙רֶב֙ וְהִנֵּ֣ה בַלָּהָ֔ה בְּטֶ֥רֶם בֹּ֖קֶר אֵינֶ֑נּוּ זֶ֚ה חֵ֣לֶק שׁוֹסֵ֔ינוּ וְגוֹרָ֖ל לְבֹזְזֵֽינוּ׃
