WLC ¹ מַשָּׂ֖א גֵּ֣יא חִזָּי֑וֹן מַה־ לָּ֣ךְ אֵפ֔וֹא כִּֽי־ עָלִ֥ית כֻּלָּ֖ךְ לַגַּגּֽוֹת׃

KJV ² Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.

MAR ² Toi pleine de tumulte, ville bruyante, ville qui ne demandais qu'à t'égayer ? tes blessés à mort n'ont pas été blessés à mort par l'épée, et ils ne sont pas morts par la guerre.

VULC ² Clamoris plena, urbs frequens,
civitas exsultans ;
interfecti tui, non interfecti gladio,
nec mortui in bello.

WLC ² תְּשֻׁא֣וֹת ׀ מְלֵאָ֗ה עִ֚יר הֽוֹמִיָּ֔ה קִרְיָ֖ה עַלִּיזָ֑ה חֲלָלַ֙יִךְ֙ לֹ֣א חַלְלֵי־ חֶ֔רֶב וְלֹ֖א מֵתֵ֥י מִלְחָמָֽה׃

KJV ³ All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.

MAR ³ Tous tes conducteurs sont allés errant çà et là ensemble, ils ont été liés par les archers ; tous ceux des tiens qui ont été trouvés ont été liés ensemble, s'en étant fuis loin.

VULC ³ Cuncti principes tui fugerunt simul
dureque ligati sunt ;
omnes qui inventi sunt vincti sunt pariter ;
procul fugerunt.

WLC ³ כָּל־ קְצִינַ֥יִךְ נָֽדְדוּ־ יַ֖חַד מִקֶּ֣שֶׁת אֻסָּ֑רוּ כָּל־ נִמְצָאַ֙יִךְ֙ אֻסְּר֣וּ יַחְדָּ֔ו מֵרָח֖וֹק בָּרָֽחוּ׃

KJV ⁴ Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.

MAR ⁴ C'est pourquoi j'ai dit ; retirez-vous de moi, je pleurerai amèrement. Ne vous empressez point de me consoler touchant le dégât de la fille de mon peuple.

VULC ⁴ Propterea dixi : Recedite a me :
amare flebo ;
nolite incumbere ut consolemini me
super vastitate filiæ populi mei ;

WLC ⁴ עַל־ כֵּ֥ן אָמַ֛רְתִּי שְׁע֥וּ מִנִּ֖י אֲמָרֵ֣ר בַּבֶּ֑כִי אַל־ תָּאִ֣יצוּ לְנַֽחֲמֵ֔נִי עַל־ שֹׁ֖ד בַּת־ עַמִּֽי׃

KJV ⁵ For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord GOD of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.

MAR ⁵ Car c'est le jour de trouble, d'oppression, et de perplexité, de par le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées, dans la vallée de vision ; il s'en va démolir la muraille, et le cri en ira jusqu'à la montagne.

VULC ⁵ dies enim interfectionis,
et conculcationis, et fletuum,
Domino Deo exercituum,
in valle Visionis,
scrutans murum,
et magnificus super montem.

WLC ⁵ כִּ֣י יוֹם֩ מְהוּמָ֨ה וּמְבוּסָ֜ה וּמְבוּכָ֗ה לַֽאדֹנָ֧י יְהוִ֛ה צְבָא֖וֹת בְּגֵ֣יא חִזָּי֑וֹן מְקַרְקַ֥ר קִ֖ר וְשׁ֥וֹעַ אֶל־ הָהָֽר׃

KJV ⁶ And Elam bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.

MAR ⁶ Même Hélam a pris son carquois, [il y a] des hommes montés sur des chariots, et Kir a découvert le bouclier.

VULC ⁶ Et Ælam sumpsit pharetram,
currum hominis equitis,
et parietem nudavit clypeus.

WLC ⁶ וְעֵילָם֙ נָשָׂ֣א אַשְׁפָּ֔ה בְּרֶ֥כֶב אָדָ֖ם פָּֽרָשִׁ֑ים וְקִ֥יר עֵרָ֖ה מָגֵֽן׃

KJV ⁷ And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

MAR ⁷ Et il est arrivé que l'élite de tes vallées a été remplie de chariots, et les gens de cheval se sont tous rangés en bataille contre la porte.

VULC ⁷ Et erunt electæ valles tuæ plenæ quadrigarum,
et equites ponent sedes suas in porta.

WLC ⁷ וַיְהִ֥י מִבְחַר־ עֲמָקַ֖יִךְ מָ֣לְאוּ רָ֑כֶב וְהַפָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים שֹׁ֖ת שָׁ֥תוּ הַשָּֽׁעְרָה׃

KJV ⁸ And he discovered the covering of Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armour of the house of the forest.

MAR ⁸ Et on a découvert ce qui couvrait Juda, et tu as regardé en ce jour-là vers les armes de la maison du parc.

VULC ⁸ Et revelabitur operimentum Judæ,
et videbis in die illa
armamentarium domus saltus.

WLC ⁸ וַיְגַ֕ל אֵ֖ת מָסַ֣ךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַתַּבֵּט֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא אֶל־ נֶ֖שֶׁק בֵּ֥ית הַיָּֽעַר׃

KJV ⁹ Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool.

MAR ⁹ Et vous avez vu que les brèches de la cité de David étaient grandes ; et vous avez assemblé les eaux du bas étang.

VULC ⁹ Et scissuras civitatis David videbitis,
quia multiplicatæ sunt ;
et congregastis aquas piscinæ inferioris,

WLC ⁹ וְאֵ֨ת בְּקִיעֵ֧י עִיר־ דָּוִ֛ד רְאִיתֶ֖ם כִּי־ רָ֑בּוּ וַֽתְּקַבְּצ֔וּ אֶת־ מֵ֥י הַבְּרֵכָ֖ה הַתַּחְתּוֹנָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁰ And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.

MAR ¹⁰ Et vous avez fait le dénombrement des maisons de Jérusalem, et démoli les maisons pour fortifier la muraille.

et destruxistis domos ad muniendum murum.

WLC ¹⁰ וְאֶת־ בָּתֵּ֥י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם סְפַרְתֶּ֑ם וַתִּתְֿצוּ֙ הַבָּ֣תִּ֔ים לְבַצֵּ֖ר הַחוֹמָֽה׃

KJV ¹¹ Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.

MAR ¹¹ Vous avez aussi fait un réservoir d'eaux entre les deux murailles, pour les eaux du vieux étang ; mais vous n'avez point regardé à celui qui l'a faite et formée dès longtemps.

VULC ¹¹ Et lacum fecistis inter duos muros
ad aquam piscinæ veteris ;
et non suspexistis ad eum qui fecerat eam,
et operatorem ejus de longe non vidistis.

WLC ¹¹ וּמִקְוָ֣ה ׀ עֲשִׂיתֶ֗ם בֵּ֚ין הַחֹ֣מֹתַ֔יִם לְמֵ֖י הַבְּרֵכָ֣ה הַיְשָׁנָ֑ה וְלֹ֤א הִבַּטְתֶּם֙ אֶל־ עֹשֶׂ֔יהָ וְיֹצְרָ֥הּ מֵֽרָח֖וֹק לֹ֥א רְאִיתֶֽם׃

KJV ¹² And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

MAR ¹² Et le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées, [vous] a appelés ce jour-là aux pleurs et au deuil, à vous arracher les cheveux, et à ceindre le sac ;

VULC ¹² Et vocabit Dominus Deus exercituum
in die illa
ad fletum, et ad planctum,
ad calvitium, et ad cingulum sacci ;

WLC ¹² וַיִּקְרָ֗א אֲדֹנָ֧י יְהוִ֛ה צְבָא֖וֹת בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא לִבְכִי֙ וּלְמִסְפֵּ֔ד וּלְקָרְחָ֖ה וְלַחֲגֹ֥ר שָֽׂק׃

KJV ¹³ And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.

MAR ¹³ Et voici il y a de la joie et de l'allégresse ; on tue des bœufs, on égorge des moutons, on en mange la chair, et on boit du vin ; [puis on dit] ; Mangeons et buvons ; car demain nous mourrons.

VULC ¹³ et ecce gaudium et lætitia,
occidere vitulos et jugulare arietes,
comedere carnes, et bibere vinum :
comedamus et bibamus,
cras enim moriemur.

WLC ¹³ וְהִנֵּ֣ה ׀ שָׂשׂ֣וֹן וְשִׂמְחָ֗ה הָרֹ֤ג ׀ בָּקָר֙ וְשָׁחֹ֣ט צֹ֔אן אָכֹ֥ל בָּשָׂ֖ר וְשָׁת֣וֹת יָ֑יִן אָכ֣וֹל וְשָׁת֔וֹ כִּ֥י מָחָ֖ר נָמֽוּת׃

KJV ¹⁴ And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

MAR ¹⁴ Or l'Eternel des armées m'a déclaré, disant ; si jamais cette iniquité vous est pardonnée, que vous n'en mouriez, a dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées.

VULC ¹⁴ Et revelata est in auribus meis vox Domini exercituum :
Si dimittetur iniquitas hæc vobis donec moriamini,
dicit Dominus Deus exercituum.]

WLC ¹⁴ וְנִגְלָ֥ה בְאָזְנָ֖י יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת אִם־ יְ֠כֻפַּר הֶעָוֺ֨ן הַזֶּ֤ה לָכֶם֙ עַד־ תְּמֻת֔וּן אָמַ֛ר אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִ֖ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹⁵ Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,

MAR ¹⁵ Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées ; va, entre chez ce trésorier, chez Sebna maître d'hôtel [et lui dis] ;

VULC ¹⁵ [Hæc dicit Dominus Deus exercituum :
Vade, ingredere ad eum qui habitat in tabernaculo,
ad Sobnam, præpositum templi, et dices ad eum :

WLC ¹⁵ כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֛ר אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִ֖ה צְבָא֑וֹת לֶךְ־ בֹּא֙ אֶל־ הַסֹּכֵ֣ן הַזֶּ֔ה עַל־ שֶׁבְנָ֖א אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־ הַבָּֽיִת׃

KJV ¹⁶ What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?

MAR ¹⁶ Qu'as-tu à faire ici ? et qui [est] ici qui t'appartienne, que tu te sois taillé ici un sépulcre ? Il taille un lieu éminent pour son sépulcre, et se creuse une demeure dans un rocher.

VULC ¹⁶ Quid tu hic, aut quasi quis hic ?
quia excidisti tibi hic sepulchrum,
excidisti in excelso memoriale diligenter,
in petra tabernaculum tibi.

WLC ¹⁶ מַה־ לְּךָ֥ פֹה֙ וּמִ֣י לְךָ֣ פֹ֔ה כִּֽי־ חָצַ֧בְתָּ לְּךָ֛ פֹּ֖ה קָ֑בֶר חֹצְבִ֤י מָרוֹם֙ קִבְר֔וֹ חֹקְקִ֥י בַסֶּ֖לַע מִשְׁכָּ֥ן לֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁷ Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.

MAR ¹⁷ Voici, ô homme ! l'Eternel te chassera loin, et te couvrira entièrement.

VULC ¹⁷ Ecce Dominus asportari te faciet,
sicut asportatur gallus gallinaceus ;
et quasi amictum, sic sublevabit te.

WLC ¹⁷ הִנֵּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ מְטַלְטֶלְךָ֔ טַלְטֵלָ֖ה גָּ֑בֶר וְעֹטְךָ֖ עָטֹֽה׃

KJV ¹⁸ He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.

MAR ¹⁸ Il te fera rouler fort vite comme une boule en un pays large et spacieux ; tu mourras là, et là seront les chariots de ta gloire, [de toi qui es] la honte de la maison de ton Seigneur.

VULC ¹⁸ Coronans coronabit te tribulatione ;
quasi pilam mittet te in terram latam et spatiosam ;
ibi morieris, et ibi erit currus gloriæ tuæ,
ignominia domus domini tui.

WLC ¹⁸ צָנ֤וֹף יִצְנָפְךָ֙ צְנֵפָ֔ה כַּדּ֕וּר אֶל־ אֶ֖רֶץ רַחֲבַ֣ת יָדָ֑יִם שָׁ֣מָּה תָמ֗וּת וְשָׁ֙מָּה֙ מַרְכְּב֣וֹת כְּבוֹדֶ֔ךָ קְל֖וֹן בֵּ֥ית אֲדֹנֶֽיךָ׃

KJV ¹⁹ And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.

MAR ¹⁹ Et je te jetterai hors de ton rang, et on te déposera de ton emploi.

VULC ¹⁹ Et expellam te de statione tua,
et de ministerio tuo deponam te.

WLC ¹⁹ וַהֲדַפְתִּ֖יךָ מִמַּצָּבֶ֑ךָ וּמִמַּעֲמָֽדְךָ֖ יֶהֶרְסֶֽךָ׃

KJV ²⁰ And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:

MAR ²⁰ Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que j'appellerai mon serviteur Eliakim, fils de Hilkija.

VULC ²⁰ Et erit in die illa :
vocabo servum meum Eliacim, filium Helciæ,

WLC ²⁰ וְהָיָ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וְקָרָ֣אתִי לְעַבְדִּ֔י לְאֶלְיָקִ֖ים בֶּן־ חִלְקִיָּֽהוּ׃

KJV ²¹ And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

MAR ²¹ Et je le vêtirai de ta casaque, je le ceindrai de ton baudrier, je mettrai ton autorité entre ses mains, et il sera pour père à ceux qui habitent dans Jérusalem, et à la maison de Juda.

VULC ²¹ et induam illum tunica tua,
et cingulo tuo confortabo eum,
et potestatem tuam dabo in manu ejus ;
et erit quasi pater habitantibus Jerusalem
et domui Juda.

WLC ²¹ וְהִלְבַּשְׁתִּ֣יו כֻּתָּנְתֶּ֗ךָ וְאַבְנֵֽטְךָ֙ אֲחַזְּקֶ֔נּוּ וּמֶֽמְשֶׁלְתְּךָ֖ אֶתֵּ֣ן בְּיָד֑וֹ וְהָיָ֥ה לְאָ֛ב לְיוֹשֵׁ֥ב יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וּלְבֵ֥ית יְהוּדָֽה׃

KJV ²² And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

MAR ²² Et je mettrai la clef de la maison de David sur son épaule ; et il ouvrira, et il n'y aura personne qui ferme ; et il fermera, et il n'y aura personne qui ouvre.

VULC ²² Et dabo clavem domus David
super humerum ejus ;
et aperiet, et non erit qui claudat ;
et claudet, et non erit qui aperiat.

WLC ²² וְנָתַתִּ֛י מַפְתֵּ֥חַ בֵּית־ דָּוִ֖ד עַל־ שִׁכְמ֑וֹ וּפָתַח֙ וְאֵ֣ין סֹגֵ֔ר וְסָגַ֖ר וְאֵ֥ין פֹּתֵֽחַ׃

KJV ²³ And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.

MAR ²³ Et je le ficherai comme un croc en un lieu ferme ; et il sera pour trône de gloire à la maison de son père.

VULC ²³ Et figam illum paxillum in loco fideli,
et erit in solium gloriæ domui patris ejus.

WLC ²³ וּתְקַעְתִּ֥יו יָתֵ֖ד בְּמָק֣וֹם נֶאֱמָ֑ן וְהָיָ֛ה לְכִסֵּ֥א כָב֖וֹד לְבֵ֥ית אָבִֽיו׃

KJV ²⁴ And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.

MAR ²⁴ Et on y pendra toute la gloire de la maison de son père, de ses parents, et de celles qui lui appartiennent ; tous les ustensiles des plus petites choses, depuis les ustensiles des tasses jusques à tous les ustensiles des musettes.

VULC ²⁴ Et suspendent super eum omnem gloriam domus patris ejus ;
vasorum diversa genera,
omne vas parvulum,
a vasis craterarum usque ad omne vas musicorum.

WLC ²⁴ וְתָל֨וּ עָלָ֜יו כֹּ֣ל ׀ כְּב֣וֹד בֵּית־ אָבִ֗יו הַצֶּֽאֱצָאִים֙ וְהַצְּפִע֔וֹת כֹּ֖ל כְּלֵ֣י הַקָּטָ֑ן מִכְּלֵי֙ הָֽאַגָּנ֔וֹת וְעַ֖ד כָּל־ כְּלֵ֥י הַנְּבָלִֽים׃

KJV ²⁵ In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.

MAR ²⁵ En ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel des armées, le croc qui avait été fiché en un lieu ferme, sera ôté ; et étant retranché il tombera, et ce dont il était chargé sera retranché ; car l'Eternel a parlé.

VULC ²⁵ In die illa, dicit Dominus exercituum,
auferetur paxillus qui fixus fuerat in loco fideli,
et frangetur, et cadet,
et peribit quod pependerat in eo,
quia Dominus locutus est.]

WLC ²⁵ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא נְאֻם֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת תָּמוּשׁ֙ הַיָּתֵ֔ד הַתְּקוּעָ֖ה בְּמָק֣וֹם נֶאֱמָ֑ן וְנִגְדְּעָ֣ה וְנָפְלָ֗ה וְנִכְרַת֙ הַמַּשָּׂ֣א אֲשֶׁר־ עָלֶ֔יהָ כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃
