KJV ¹ Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

KJV ² And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

OST ² Et il en sera du sacrificateur comme du peuple, du maître comme de son serviteur, de la maîtresse comme de la servante, du vendeur comme de l'acheteur, du prêteur comme de l'emprunteur, du créancier comme du débiteur.

WLC ² וְהָיָ֤ה כָעָם֙ כַּכֹּהֵ֔ן כַּעֶ֙בֶד֙ כַּֽאדֹנָ֔יו כַּשִּׁפְחָ֖ה כַּגְּבִרְתָּ֑הּ כַּקּוֹנֶה֙ כַּמּוֹכֵ֔ר כַּמַּלְוֶה֙ כַּלֹּוֶ֔ה כַּנֹּשֶׁ֕ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר נֹשֶׁ֥א בֽוֹ׃

KJV ³ The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.

OST ³ Le pays sera entièrement vidé et mis au pillage, car l'Éternel a prononcé cet arrêt.

WLC ³ הִבּ֧וֹק ׀ תִּבּ֛וֹק הָאָ֖רֶץ וְהִבּ֣וֹז ׀ תִּבּ֑וֹז כִּ֣י יְהוָ֔ה דִּבֶּ֖ר אֶת־ הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃

KJV ⁴ The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

OST ⁴ Le pays est triste et mort; la terre est morte et languissante; les grands du peuple du pays sont languissants.

WLC ⁴ אָבְלָ֤ה נָֽבְלָה֙ הָאָ֔רֶץ אֻמְלְלָ֥ה נָבְלָ֖ה תֵּבֵ֑ל אֻמְלָ֖לוּ מְר֥וֹם עַם־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ⁵ The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

OST ⁵ Le pays était profané par ses habitants; car ils ont transgressé les lois, ils ont violé l'ordonnance, ils ont enfreint l'alliance éternelle.

WLC ⁵ וְהָאָ֥רֶץ חָנְפָ֖ה תַּ֣חַת יֹשְׁבֶ֑יהָ כִּֽי־ עָבְר֤וּ תוֹרֹת֙ חָ֣לְפוּ חֹ֔ק הֵפֵ֖רוּ בְּרִ֥ית עוֹלָֽם׃

KJV ⁶ Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

OST ⁶ C'est pourquoi la malédiction dévore le pays, et ses habitants portent leur peine; c'est pourquoi les habitants du pays ont été consumés, et il n'est resté que très peu d'hommes.

WLC ⁶ עַל־ כֵּ֗ן אָלָה֙ אָ֣כְלָה אֶ֔רֶץ וַֽיֶּאְשְׁמ֖וּ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי בָ֑הּ עַל־ כֵּ֗ן חָרוּ֙ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי אֶ֔רֶץ וְנִשְׁאַ֥ר אֱנ֖וֹשׁ מִזְעָֽר׃

KJV ⁷ The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.

OST ⁷ Le vin doux pleure, la vigne languit, tous ceux qui avaient le coeur joyeux soupirent;

WLC ⁷ אָבַ֥ל תִּיר֖וֹשׁ אֻמְלְלָה־ גָ֑פֶן נֶאֶנְח֖וּ כָּל־ שִׂמְחֵי־ לֵֽב׃

KJV ⁸ The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.

OST ⁸ Le son joyeux des tambourins a cessé, le bruit de la gaieté a pris fin, le son joyeux de la harpe a cessé;

WLC ⁸ שָׁבַת֙ מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ תֻּפִּ֔ים חָדַ֖ל שְׁא֣וֹן עַלִּיזִ֑ים שָׁבַ֖ת מְשׂ֥וֹשׂ כִּנּֽוֹר׃

KJV ⁹ They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.

OST ⁹ On ne boit plus de vin en chantant; la boisson forte est amère à ceux qui la boivent.

WLC ⁹ בַּשִּׁ֖יר לֹ֣א יִשְׁתּוּ־ יָ֑יִן יֵמַ֥ר שֵׁכָ֖ר לְשֹׁתָֽיו׃

KJV ¹⁰ The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

OST ¹⁰ Elle est détruite, la cité déserte; toute maison est fermée, on n'y entre plus.

WLC ¹⁰ נִשְׁבְּרָ֖ה קִרְיַת־ תֹּ֑הוּ סֻגַּ֥ר כָּל־ בַּ֖יִת מִבּֽוֹא׃

KJV ¹¹ There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

KJV ¹² In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

OST ¹² Il ne reste dans la ville que désolation; la porte tombe en débris sous les coups!

WLC ¹² נִשְׁאַ֥ר בָּעִ֖יר שַׁמָּ֑ה וּשְׁאִיָּ֖ה יֻכַּת־ שָֽׁעַר׃

KJV ¹³ When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.

KJV ¹⁴ They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

KJV ¹⁵ Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

OST ¹⁵ Glorifiez donc l'Éternel aux lieux où naît la lumière; glorifiez le nom de l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, dans les îles de la mer!

KJV ¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

KJV ¹⁷ Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

OST ¹⁷ La terreur, la fosse et le filet vont t'atteindre, habitant du pays!

WLC ¹⁷ פַּ֥חַד וָפַ֖חַת וָפָ֑ח עָלֶ֖יךָ יוֹשֵׁ֥ב הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ¹⁸ And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

OST ¹⁸ Et celui qui fuira au bruit de la terreur, tombera dans la fosse; et qui sera remonté de la fosse, tombera dans le filet. Car les écluses d'en haut s'ouvrent, et les fondements de la terre tremblent.

WLC ¹⁸ וְֽ֠הָיָה הַנָּ֞ס מִקּ֤וֹל הַפַּ֙חַד֙ יִפֹּ֣ל אֶל־ הַפַּ֔חַת וְהָֽעוֹלֶה֙ מִתּ֣וֹךְ הַפַּ֔חַת יִלָּכֵ֖ד בַּפָּ֑ח כִּֽי־ אֲרֻבּ֤וֹת מִמָּרוֹם֙ נִפְתָּ֔חוּ וַֽיִּרְעֲשׁ֖וּ מ֥וֹסְדֵי אָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ¹⁹ The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.

KJV ²⁰ The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

OST ²⁰ La terre chancelle comme un homme ivre; elle vacille comme une cabane; son péché pèse sur elle; elle tombe, et ne se relèvera plus!

WLC ²⁰ נ֣וֹעַ תָּנ֤וּעַ אֶ֙רֶץ֙ כַּשִּׁכּ֔וֹר וְהִֽתְנוֹדְדָ֖ה כַּמְּלוּנָ֑ה וְכָבַ֤ד עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ פִּשְׁעָ֔הּ וְנָפְלָ֖ה וְלֹא־ תֹסִ֥יף קֽוּם׃

KJV ²¹ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

OST ²¹ En ce jour-là, l'Éternel châtiera, en haut, l'armée d'en haut, et sur la terre, les rois de la terre.

WLC ²¹ וְהָיָה֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִפְקֹ֧ד יְהוָ֛ה עַל־ צְבָ֥א הַמָּר֖וֹם בַּמָּר֑וֹם וְעַל־ מַלְכֵ֥י הָאֲדָמָ֖ה עַל־ הָאֲדָמָֽה׃

KJV ²² And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

OST ²² Et ils seront rassemblés captifs dans un cachot, et enfermés dans la prison; et après un grand nombre de jours ils seront châtiés.

WLC ²² וְאֻסְּפ֨וּ אֲסֵפָ֤ה אַסִּיר֙ עַל־ בּ֔וֹר וְסֻגְּר֖וּ עַל־ מַסְגֵּ֑ר וּמֵרֹ֥ב יָמִ֖ים יִפָּקֵֽדוּ׃

KJV ²³ Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

OST ²³ La lune rougira, et le soleil sera honteux, quand l'Éternel des armées régnera sur la montagne de Sion, à Jérusalem; et devant ses anciens resplendira la gloire.

WLC ²³ וְחָֽפְרָה֙ הַלְּבָנָ֔ה וּבוֹשָׁ֖ה הַֽחַמָּ֑ה כִּֽי־ מָלַ֞ךְ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת בְּהַ֤ר צִיּוֹן֙ וּבִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם וְנֶ֥גֶד זְקֵנָ֖יו כָּבֽוֹד׃
