BAN ¹ Lorsque le roi Ezéchias eut entendu cela, il déchira ses vêtements, se couvrit d'un sac et se rendit à la maison de l'Eternel.

KJV ¹ And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

WLC ¹ וַיְהִ֗י כִּשְׁמֹ֙עַ֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ וַיִּקְרַ֖ע אֶת־ בְּגָדָ֑יו וַיִּתְכַּ֣ס בַּשָּׂ֔ק וַיָּבֹ֖א בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ² Et il envoya Eliakim, préfet du palais, Sebna, le secrétaire, et les anciens des prêtres, couverts de sacs, vers le prophète Esaïe, fils d'Amots.

KJV ² And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

WLC ² וַ֠יִּשְׁלַח אֶת־ אֶלְיָקִ֨ים אֲשֶׁר־ עַל־ הַבַּ֜יִת וְאֵ֣ת ׀ שֶׁבְנָ֣א הַסּוֹפֵ֗ר וְאֵת֙ זִקְנֵ֣י הַכֹּהֲנִ֔ים מִתְכַּסִּ֖ים בַּשַּׂקִּ֑ים אֶל־ יְשַֽׁעְיָ֥הוּ בֶן־ אָמ֖וֹץ הַנָּבִֽיא׃

BAN ³ Et ils lui dirent : Ainsi a dit Ezéchias : Ce jour est un jour d'angoisse, de châtiment et d'opprobre ; car l'enfant est prêt à sortir du sein, mais la force manque pour enfanter.

KJV ³ And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

WLC ³ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ יוֹם־ צָרָ֧ה וְתוֹכֵחָ֛ה וּנְאָצָ֖ה הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֣י בָ֤אוּ בָנִים֙ עַד־ מַשְׁבֵּ֔ר וְכֹ֥חַ אַ֖יִן לְלֵדָֽה׃

BAN ⁴ Peut-être l'Eternel, ton Dieu, entendra-t-il les paroles de Rabsaké, que le roi d'Assyrie, son maître, a envoyé pour outrager le Dieu vivant, et l'Eternel, ton Dieu, punira-t-il les paroles qu'il a entendues ; et tu offriras une prière pour le reste du peuple qui subsiste encore !

KJV ⁴ It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.

WLC ⁴ אוּלַ֡י יִשְׁמַע֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ אֵ֣ת ׀ דִּבְרֵ֣י רַב־ שָׁקֵ֗ה אֲשֶׁר֩ שְׁלָח֨וֹ מֶֽלֶךְ־ אַשּׁ֤וּר ׀ אֲדֹנָיו֙ לְחָרֵף֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים חַ֔י וְהוֹכִ֙יחַ֙ בַּדְּבָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁמַ֖ע יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ וְנָשָׂ֣אתָ תְפִלָּ֔ה בְּעַ֥ד הַשְּׁאֵרִ֖ית הַנִּמְצָאָֽה׃

BAN ⁵ Les serviteurs du roi Ezéchias vinrent donc vers Esaïe,

KJV ⁵ So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

WLC ⁵ וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ עַבְדֵ֛י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ אֶל־ יְשַׁעְיָֽהוּ׃

BAN ⁶ et Esaïe leur dit : Vous direz ceci à votre maître : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel : Ne t'effraie point des paroles que tu as entendues et par lesquelles les valets du roi d'Assyrie m'ont blasphémé.

KJV ⁶ And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם֙ יְשַֽׁעְיָ֔הוּ כֹּ֥ה תֹאמְר֖וּן אֶל־ אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֑ם כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה אַל־ תִּירָא֙ מִפְּנֵ֤י הַדְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁמַ֔עְתָּ אֲשֶׁ֧ר גִּדְּפ֛וּ נַעֲרֵ֥י מֶלֶךְ־ אַשּׁ֖וּר אוֹתִֽי׃

BAN ⁷ Voici, je vais mettre en lui un esprit, de sorte qu'en recevant une certaine nouvelle, il retournera dans son pays ; et je le ferai tomber par l'épée dans son pays.

KJV ⁷ Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

WLC ⁷ הִנְנִ֨י נוֹתֵ֥ן בּוֹ֙ ר֔וּחַ וְשָׁמַ֥ע שְׁמוּעָ֖ה וְשָׁ֣ב אֶל־ אַרְצ֑וֹ וְהִפַּלְתִּ֥יו בַּחֶ֖רֶב בְּאַרְצֽוֹ׃

BAN ⁸ Rabsaké s'en retourna et trouva le roi d'Assyrie assiégeant Libna ; car il avait appris qu'il était parti de Lakis.

KJV ⁸ So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

WLC ⁸ וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙ רַב־ שָׁקֵ֔ה וַיִּמְצָא֙ אֶת־ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר נִלְחָ֖ם עַל־ לִבְנָ֑ה כִּ֣י שָׁמַ֔ע כִּ֥י נָסַ֖ע מִלָּכִֽישׁ׃

BAN ⁹ Or, Sanchérib reçut la nouvelle que Tirliaka, roi d'Ethiopie, s'était mis en campagne pour l'attaquer ; apprenant cela, il envoya des ambassadeurs à Ezéchias en disant :

KJV ⁹ And he heard say concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He is come forth to make war with thee. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

WLC ⁹ וַיִּשְׁמַ֗ע עַל־ תִּרְהָ֤קָה מֶֽלֶךְ־ כּוּשׁ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר יָצָ֖א לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם אִתָּ֑ךְ וַיִּשְׁמַע֙ וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל־ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ¹⁰ Vous parlerez ainsi à Ezéchias, roi de Juda, et lui direz : Ne te laisse pas abuser par ton Dieu, en qui tu te confies, disant Jérusalem ne sera point livrée aux mains du roi d'Assyrie.

KJV ¹⁰ Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

WLC ¹⁰ כֹּ֣ה תֹאמְר֗וּן אֶל־ חִזְקִיָּ֤הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אַל־ יַשִּֽׁאֲךָ֣ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתָּ֛ה בּוֹטֵ֥חַ בּ֖וֹ לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹ֤א תִנָּתֵן֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם בְּיַ֖ד מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃

BAN ¹¹ Voici, tu as entendu ce que les rois d'Assyrie ont fait à tous les pays, comment ils les ont exterminés ; et toi, tu serais délivré !

KJV ¹¹ Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?

WLC ¹¹ הִנֵּ֣ה ׀ אַתָּ֣ה שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשׂ֜וּ מַלְכֵ֥י אַשּׁ֛וּר לְכָל־ הָאֲרָצ֖וֹת לְהַחֲרִימָ֑ם וְאַתָּ֖ה תִּנָּצֵֽל׃

BAN ¹² Les ont-ils délivrées, les dieux des nations que mes pères ont détruites : Gozan, Haran, Retseph, et les fils d'Eden, qui sont à Télassar ?

KJV ¹² Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Telassar?

WLC ¹² הַהִצִּ֨ילוּ אוֹתָ֜ם אֱלֹהֵ֤י הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִשְׁחִ֣יתוּ אֲבוֹתַ֔י אֶת־ גּוֹזָ֖ן וְאֶת־ חָרָ֑ן וְרֶ֥צֶף וּבְנֵי־ עֶ֖דֶן אֲשֶׁ֥ר בִּתְלַשָּֽׂר׃

BAN ¹³ Où sont le roi de Hamath, le roi d'Arpad et le roi de la ville de Sépharvaïm, d'Héna et d'Ivva ?

KJV ¹³ Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?

WLC ¹³ אַיֵּ֤ה מֶֽלֶךְ־ חֲמָת֙ וּמֶ֣לֶךְ אַרְפָּ֔ד וּמֶ֖לֶךְ לָעִ֣יר סְפַרְוָ֑יִם הֵנַ֖ע וְעִוָּֽה׃

BAN ¹⁴ Et Ezéchias prit la lettre de la main des envoyés et la lut ; puis il monta à la maison de l'Eternel. Et Ezéchias la déploya devant l'Eternel ;

KJV ¹⁴ And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיִּקַּ֨ח חִזְקִיָּ֧הוּ אֶת־ הַסְּפָרִ֛ים מִיַּ֥ד הַמַּלְאָכִ֖ים וַיִּקְרָאֵ֑הוּ וַיַּ֙עַל֙ בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֔ה וַיִּפְרְשֵׂ֥הוּ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ¹⁵ et Ezéchias fit cette prière à l'Eternel :

KJV ¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,

WLC ¹⁵ וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל֙ חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ אֶל־ יְהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ¹⁶ Eternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël, qui trônes sur les chérubins ! Toi seul es le Dieu de tous les royaumes de la terre ; c'est toi qui as fait les cieux et la terre.

KJV ¹⁶ O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

WLC ¹⁶ יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יֹשֵׁ֣ב הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים אַתָּה־ ה֤וּא הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ לְבַדְּךָ֔ לְכֹ֖ל מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הָאָ֑רֶץ אַתָּ֣ה עָשִׂ֔יתָ אֶת־ הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֶת־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

BAN ¹⁷ Incline l'oreille, ô Eternel, et entends ; ouvre les yeux, ô Eternel, et vois ! Entends toutes les paroles de Sanchérib, qu'il a envoyées pour outrager le Dieu vivant.

KJV ¹⁷ Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.

WLC ¹⁷ הַטֵּ֨ה יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אָזְנְךָ֙ וּֽשְׁמָ֔ע פְּקַ֧ח יְהוָ֛ה עֵינֶ֖ךָ וּרְאֵ֑ה וּשְׁמַ֗ע אֵ֚ת כָּל־ דִּבְרֵ֣י סַנְחֵרִ֔יב אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁלַ֔ח לְחָרֵ֖ף אֱלֹהִ֥ים חָֽי׃

BAN ¹⁸ Il est vrai, ô Eternel, que les rois d'Assyrie ont exterminé tous les pays et leur pays,

KJV ¹⁸ Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries,

WLC ¹⁸ אָמְנָ֖ם יְהוָ֑ה הֶחֱרִ֜יבוּ מַלְכֵ֥י אַשּׁ֛וּר אֶת־ כָּל־ הָאֲרָצ֖וֹת וְאֶת־ אַרְצָֽם׃

BAN ¹⁹ et qu'ils ont jeté au feu leurs dieux ; car ce n'étaient point des dieux, mais des ouvrages de main d'homme, du bois, de la pierre, et ils les ont détruits.

KJV ¹⁹ And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

WLC ¹⁹ וְנָתֹ֥ן אֶת־ אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֖ם בָּאֵ֑שׁ כִּי֩ לֹ֨א אֱלֹהִ֜ים הֵ֗מָּה כִּ֣י אִם־ מַעֲשֵׂ֧ה יְדֵֽי־ אָדָ֛ם עֵ֥ץ וָאֶ֖בֶן וַֽיְאַבְּדֽוּם׃

BAN ²⁰ Et maintenant, Eternel, notre Dieu, sauve-nous de la main de Sanchérib et que tous les royaumes de la terre sachent que toi seul es l'Eternel !

KJV ²⁰ Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.

WLC ²⁰ וְעַתָּה֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ הוֹשִׁיעֵ֖נוּ מִיָד֑וֹ וְיֵֽדְעוּ֙ כָּל־ מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּֽי־ אַתָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה לְבַדֶּֽךָ׃

BAN ²¹ Alors Esaïe, fils d'Amots, envoya dire à Ezéchias : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel, moi, le Dieu d'Israël, que tu as invoqué au sujet de Sanchérib, roi d'Assyrie :

KJV ²¹ Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

WLC ²¹ וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ יְשַֽׁעְיָ֣הוּ בֶן־ אָמ֔וֹץ אֶל־ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר֙ הִתְפַּלַּ֣לְתָּ אֵלַ֔י אֶל־ סַנְחֵרִ֖יב מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃

BAN ²² Voici la parole que l'Eternel a prononcée sur lui :
La vierge, fille de Sion, te méprise, elle se moque de toi ; la fille de Jérusalem hoche la tête derrière toi !

KJV ²² This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

WLC ²² זֶ֣ה הַדָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁר־ דִּבֶּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה עָלָ֑יו בָּזָ֨ה לְךָ֜ לָעֲגָ֣ה לְךָ֗ בְּתוּלַת֙ בַּת־ צִיּ֔וֹן אַחֲרֶ֙יךָ֙ רֹ֣אשׁ הֵנִ֔יעָה בַּ֖ת יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

BAN ²³ Qui as-tu outragé et blasphémé ? contre qui as-tu élevé la voix et porté les yeux en-haut ? Contre le Saint d'Israël.

KJV ²³ Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

WLC ²³ אֶת־ מִ֤י חֵרַ֙פְתָּ֙ וְגִדַּ֔פְתָּ וְעַל־ מִ֖י הֲרִימ֣וֹתָה קּ֑וֹל וַתִּשָּׂ֥א מָר֛וֹם עֵינֶ֖יךָ אֶל־ קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ²⁴ Par tes serviteurs, tu as outragé le Seigneur, et tu as dit : Avec la multitude de mes chars, moi, j'ai gravi le sommet des montagnes, j'ai pénétré dans les profondeurs du Liban ; je couperai ses plus hauts cèdres et ses plus beaux cyprès ; j'atteindrai sa dernière cime, sa forêt la plus belle !

KJV ²⁴ By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel.

WLC ²⁴ בְּיַ֣ד עֲבָדֶיךָ֮ חֵרַ֣פְתָּ ׀ אֲדֹנָי֒ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר בְּרֹ֥ב רִכְבִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י עָלִ֛יתִי מְר֥וֹם הָרִ֖ים יַרְכְּתֵ֣י לְבָנ֑וֹן וְאֶכְרֹ֞ת קוֹמַ֤ת אֲרָזָיו֙ מִבְחַ֣ר בְּרֹשָׁ֔יו וְאָבוֹא֙ מְר֣וֹם קִצּ֔וֹ יַ֖עַר כַּרְמִלּֽוֹ׃

BAN ²⁵ Je creuse, et les eaux jaillissent pour moi ; je dessèche, avec la plante de mes pieds, tous les fleuves d'Egypte !

KJV ²⁵ I have digged, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places.

WLC ²⁵ אֲנִ֥י קַ֖רְתִּי וְשָׁתִ֣יתִי מָ֑יִם וְאַחְרִב֙ בְּכַף־ פְּעָמַ֔י כֹּ֖ל יְאֹרֵ֥י מָצֽוֹר׃

BAN ²⁶ N'as-tu pas appris comment j'ai préparé toutes ces choses et les ai formées dès longtemps, dès les jours d'autrefois ? Maintenant je les fais arriver, en sorte que tu réduises les villes fortifiées en monceaux de ruines ;

KJV ²⁶ Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defenced cities into ruinous heaps.

WLC ²⁶ הֲלֽוֹא־ שָׁמַ֤עְתָּ לְמֵֽרָחוֹק֙ אוֹתָ֣הּ עָשִׂ֔יתִי מִ֥ימֵי קֶ֖דֶם וִיצַרְתִּ֑יהָ עַתָּ֣ה הֲבֵאתִ֔יהָ וּתְהִ֗י לְהַשְׁא֛וֹת גַּלִּ֥ים נִצִּ֖ים עָרִ֥ים בְּצֻרֽוֹת׃

BAN ²⁷ et leurs habitants, les mains tremblantes, ont été épouvantés et confus ; ils sont devenus semblables au gazon des champs, à la verdure des prés, à l'herbe des toits, à un blé encore sans tige.

KJV ²⁷ Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

WLC ²⁷ וְיֹֽשְׁבֵיהֶן֙ קִצְרֵי־ יָ֔ד חַ֖תּוּ וָבֹ֑שׁוּ הָי֞וּ עֵ֤שֶׂב שָׂדֶה֙ וִ֣ירַק דֶּ֔שֶׁא חֲצִ֣יר גַּגּ֔וֹת וּשְׁדֵמָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י קָמָֽה׃

BAN ²⁸ Mais je connais quand tu t'assieds et quand tu sors et quand tu entres, et comment tu es en fureur contre moi ;

KJV ²⁸ But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

WLC ²⁸ וְשִׁבְתְּךָ֛ וְצֵאתְךָ֥ וּבוֹאֲךָ֖ יָדָ֑עְתִּי וְאֵ֖ת הִֽתְרַגֶּזְךָ֥ אֵלָֽי׃

BAN ²⁹ parce que ta fureur et ton arrogance sont montées à mes oreilles, je mettrai mon anneau dans ta narine et mon mors dans ta bouche, et je te ferai retourner par le chemin par lequel tu es venu !

KJV ²⁹ Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

WLC ²⁹ יַ֚עַן הִתְרַגֶּזְךָ֣ אֵלַ֔י וְשַׁאֲנַנְךָ֖ עָלָ֣ה בְאָזְנָ֑י וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י חַחִ֜י בְּאַפֶּ֗ךָ וּמִתְגִּי֙ בִּשְׂפָתֶ֔יךָ וַהֲשִׁ֣יבֹתִ֔יךָ בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁר־ בָּ֥אתָ בָּֽהּ׃

BAN ³⁰ Et ceci te servira de signe : on mange cette année le fruit du grain tombé, et la seconde année ce qui a cru de soi-même ; mais la troisième année vous sèmerez et vous moissonnerez ; vous cultiverez vos vignes et vous en mangerez le fruit.

KJV ³⁰ And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.

WLC ³⁰ וְזֶה־ לְּךָ֣ הָא֔וֹת אָכ֤וֹל הַשָּׁנָה֙ סָפִ֔יחַ וּבַשָּׁנָ֥ה הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית שָׁחִ֑יס וּבַשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֗ית זִרְע֧וּ וְקִצְר֛וּ וְנִטְע֥וּ כְרָמִ֖ים פִרְיָֽם׃

BAN ³¹ Et le reste de la maison de Juda, qui sera réchappé, poussera de nouveau des racines en bas et portera du fruit en haut ;

KJV ³¹ And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:

WLC ³¹ וְיָ֨סְפָ֜ה פְּלֵיטַ֧ת בֵּית־ יְהוּדָ֛ה הַנִּשְׁאָרָ֖ה שֹׁ֣רֶשׁ לְמָ֑טָּה וְעָשָׂ֥ה פְרִ֖י לְמָֽעְלָה׃

BAN ³² car de Jérusalem il sortira un reste, et des réchappés de la montagne de Sion. Le zèle de l'Eternel des armées fera cela !

KJV ³² For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

WLC ³² כִּ֤י מִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ תֵּצֵ֣א שְׁאֵרִ֔ית וּפְלֵיטָ֖ה מֵהַ֣ר צִיּ֑וֹן קִנְאַ֛ת יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־ זֹּֽאת׃

BAN ³³ C'est pourquoi, ainsi a dit l'Eternel au sujet du roi d'Assyrie : Il n'entrera point dans cette ville ; il n'y lancera pas de flèche ; il ne tournera pas contre elle de bouclier ; et il n'élèvera pas de terrasse contre elle ;

KJV ³³ Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.

WLC ³³ לָכֵ֗ן כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר לֹ֤א יָבוֹא֙ אֶל־ הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את וְלֹֽא־ יוֹרֶ֥ה שָׁ֖ם חֵ֑ץ וְלֹֽא־ יְקַדְּמֶ֣נָּה מָגֵ֔ן וְלֹֽא־ יִשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ עֳלֶ֖יהָ סֹלְלָֽה׃

BAN ³⁴ il s'en retournera par le chemin par lequel il est venu, et il n'entrera point dans cette ville, a dit l'Eternel ;

KJV ³⁴ By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

WLC ³⁴ בַּדֶּ֥רֶךְ אֲשֶׁר־ בָּ֖א בָּ֣הּ יָשׁ֑וּב וְאֶל־ הָעִ֥יר הַזֹּ֛את לֹ֥א יָב֖וֹא נְאֻם־ יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ³⁵ je protège cette ville pour la sauver, à cause de moi et à cause de David, mon serviteur.

KJV ³⁵ For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

WLC ³⁵ וְגַנּוֹתִ֛י עַל־ הָעִ֥יר הַזֹּ֖את לְהֽוֹשִׁיעָ֑הּ לְמַֽעֲנִ֔י וּלְמַ֖עַן דָּוִ֥ד עַבְדִּֽי׃

BAN ³⁶ Et l'ange de l'Eternel sortit et frappa, dans le camp des Assyriens, cent quatre-vingt-cinq mille hommes ; et quand on se leva le matin, voilà, c'étaient tous des corps morts.

KJV ³⁶ Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

WLC ³⁶ וַיֵּצֵ֣א ׀ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֗ה וַיַּכֶּה֙ בְּמַחֲנֵ֣ה אַשּׁ֔וּר מֵאָ֛ה וּשְׁמֹנִ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה אָ֑לֶף וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣ימוּ בַבֹּ֔קֶר וְהִנֵּ֥ה כֻלָּ֖ם פְּגָרִ֥ים מֵתִֽים׃

BAN ³⁷ Et Sanchérib, roi d'Assyrie, leva son camp et partit et s'en retourna et demeura à Ninive.

KJV ³⁷ So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

WLC ³⁷ וַיִּסַּ֣ע וַיֵּ֔לֶךְ וַיָּ֖שָׁב סַנְחֵרִ֣יב מֶֽלֶךְ־ אַשּׁ֑וּר וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב בְּנִֽינְוֵֽה׃

BAN ³⁸ Et il arriva, comme il était prosterné dans la maison de Nisroc, son dieu, qu'Adrammélec et Sareetser, ses fils, le tuèrent avec l'épée ; et ils s'enfuirent au pays d'Ararat ; et Asarhaddon, son fils, devint roi à sa place.

KJV ³⁸ And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

WLC ³⁸ וַיְהִי֩ ה֨וּא מִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֜ה בֵּ֣ית ׀ נִסְרֹ֣ךְ אֱלֹהָ֗יו וְֽאַדְרַמֶּ֨לֶךְ וְשַׂרְאֶ֤צֶר בָּנָיו֙ הִכֻּ֣הוּ בַחֶ֔רֶב וְהֵ֥מָּה נִמְלְט֖וּ אֶ֣רֶץ אֲרָרָ֑ט וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֵֽסַר־ חַדֹּ֥ן בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
